Why did you un-redirect Middlesex Freeway and Bergen-Passaic Expressway? They cover the same road as the articles they were redirected to.

There should also be a source for the names actually extending along the full route if you're going to add that. --SPUI (talk - don't use sorted stub templates!) 23:36, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:JohnFitchParkway.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:JohnFitchParkway.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Misplaced Pages's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Fair use rationale for Image:Battle_of_Bajor.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Battle_of_Bajor.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Misplaced Pages articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 01:34, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Image:USS_Odyssey_Destroyed.jpg

I have tagged Image:USS_Odyssey_Destroyed.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Misplaced Pages policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Battle of Chin'Toka.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Battle of Chin'Toka.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:35, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Well, you got most of it right. The only part you missed was the "preloaded debate". You can use this template so that AfD listings will be formatted properly:

Undoing reverts

I meant no disrespect by saying that there's a history of undoing reverts of a few highways. I gave two examples where it had been done before and just went ahead and undid it like the rest until we can have a discussion about it. I somewhat figured you might get upset over me saying a "history" of it, but I couldn't find any resistance to those reverts in the past, so I just brought attention back to the topic. If there needs to be a separate Trenton Freeway article, then let's discuss it at Talk:U.S. Route 1 in New Jersey#Merging Trenton Freeway. The main question will be: does the Trenton Frwy have enough information to warrant a seperate article and pass WP:N? --Triadian (talk) 04:31, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Pinelands Revert

I looked at my photo on another monitor and saw the grain, so I will not revert it. BUT! First, unless you have some sort of special job at Misplaced Pages, you shouldn't be unilaterally deleting other's donated work!At the very least, you should give some sort of notice of your intent and explanation. For example, how 'bout asking me to replace my own photo with a less grainy version, which I could do and would have been pleased to correct??? You are very wrong about everything other than it being grainy! I have decades of professional experience to back up my case for which photo is a better view. You and I know the view from that tower. So, you see your photo with that vision in mind. The reader has no sense of what a scrub (I believe) pine looks like looking at your photo. Mine shows the tree in the foreground and the background offers what yours shows -- pines as far as the eye can see. I have shots from all angles up there. This is one shows what we're talking about -- what the (individual) pines look like -- plus shows the impressive (IMHO) landscape. AND -- Are you the person who said the caption is *opinion*? Again, backed with related credentials -- a degree and years of professional experience I can tell you there is no OPINION/POV in "In the U.S's. most densely populated state , Pinelands National Reserve is shown stretching across sandy soil towards the beaches around Atlantic City . The country’s first National Reserve , also known as the Pine Barrens , encompasses over one-million acres in seven southern New Jersey counties , serving as quite a contrast to the state's more familiar city atmosphere , in its New York suburbs." I presume it's the tail end of that that you feel is opinion. Is it NOT a contrast? Do most people think of N.J. as a tree filled place? Aren't you in Nevada and a meteorologist? (Cool job! But not exactly qualifying you to be a photo OR text editing czar. Although, ironically, I'm pretty sure I could predict the weather more accurately! But, surely I digress.) Most of my life has been spent in N.J. and in my travels over 50+ years, as well as keenly watching media portrayals of our frequently bashed state, to say "more familiar city atmosphere" (meaning simply that roughly 51% or more -- one can *safely* understate -- think of N.J. that way) is truly fact. I realize the scientific equivalent wouldn't cut it, but this isn't science -- writing is more of an art. And -- in my opinion -- scientists and artists are at opposite ends of the spectrum). Oh, ANDdddd, sorry about the "Bozo" remark -- I just think what you do takes some nerve. Sincerely, the actual Bozo who posted a photo that appears grainy (although on only few monitors) photo. I'll try to fix it and repost it where it was, leaving yours as well.

Eureka Airport (Nevada)

Hello. This is in response to your question on my talk page. I removed KP68 from Eureka Airport (Nevada) because it is not the airport's ICAO location indicator. If an airport in the 48 contiguous United States is assigned an ICAO location indicator, it is always the letter K followed by the 3-character FAA location identifier (05U for Eureka Airport). As for P68 (or KP68) showing up in Google searches, that appears to be an ID used by the National Weather Service for the Eureka Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS), not for the airport. -- Zyxw (talk) 04:42, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

New Jersey Turnpike vs. I-95

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on New Jersey Turnpike. Users are expected to collaborate with others and avoid editing disruptively.

In particular, the three-revert rule states that:

  1. Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to edit war, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Acps110 15:39, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

I-95/New Jersey Turnpike

It seems that we've been having a disagreement as to where the Turnpike offically ends. I'm confused as to why you think it ends at US 46 when it's offically part of the turnpike.

It is part of the Turnpike for at least three reasons: 1) On the website map, that portion north of US 46 is highlighted in green meaning that it's officially part of the Turnpike (where it ends at the Fletcher Ave overpass. 2) The maintenance of the road is that of the turnpike authority (lane markers, signage, etc). In addition, there's a sign on the expressway that says "END NJTP" in Fort Lee, which officially designates the northern of the turnpike. 3) According to Turnpike documentation, that part is officially classified as the mainline of the turnpike. Graupel hatnote

Famartin, please familiarise yourself with the WP guidelines about disambiguation hatnotes. Hatnotes are to be used to clarify ambiguity between articles, not topics. A reader looking for the Graupel article, through the search engine or by following a link, has no chances to end up by mistake on the Ice pellets article instead, which is why there is no need for a hatnote. On the other hand, a reader looking for the rock band Hail might well end up on the Hail article instead, which is why a hatnote pointing to Hail (disambiguation) is appropriate.
If related topics like graupel and ice pellets are at risk of confusion and the See also section is deemed inadequate to clarify it, then a clarification could be added in the article lead. If you don't agree with these set guidelines, please take the matter to the relevant talk page. --Giuliopp (talk) 01:20, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge

Hi, I think you made a good suggestion to tone down one of the assertions made in one of the articles, and to find a citation for it. With best wishes, Bigturtle (talk) 18:22, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

Todt Hill

I see that the Geology of National Parks page you cited supports the change from "Atlantic Coastal Plain" to eastern seaboard. The problem is that the citation I provided - the book Mannahatta - is where the words "Atlantic Coastal Plain" are found - so with your change that citation would have to be removed. I think you would have to find a different source to confirm that Todt HIll is the highest place on the eastern seaboard - an issue that has been discussed on the Todt Hill talk page. Princeton

I'm reaching out to you here to try to consolidate the conversation about consolidating the municipalities. I had posted the following at Talk:Princeton, New Jersey and I suggest that all of the discussion of the new and former municipalities be consolidated there. The new Princeton is a successor to both the former municipalities of Princeton Borough and Princeton Township. While the new Princeton is also a borough, it was formed ab initio in 2013, as described in the Profile of Princeton on the new borough's website which states that "It is composed of the former Township of Princeton and Borough of Princeton which consolidated effective January, 2013 and is now known as Princeton." It may seem hard to appreciate, but the 2013 creation date is accurate. Alansohn (talk) 18:29, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

I had posted the same merge discussion on the Princeton talk page, and consolidated both of our sections after clicking save and seeing that we had duplicated our efforts. Please see my changes and confirm that my revisions did not change your intended meaning. Alansohn (talk) 18:48, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

Byzantine Empire lead

I think you fail to understand the point I was trying to make in my edit summaries. It's not about whether "Byzantine Empire" really was or wasn't the correct name of that entity. It's a point of grammar. Your sentence is grammatically inconsistent. Please look up use-mention distinction. A sentence of the form The XYZ is a name given to ... is never logically correct. If you wanted to talk about the names of things, it would have to be either XYZ is a name given to ... or "XYZ" is a name given to..., with the term marked as a quoted item and without the preceding "the". Once you use "the", you are not talking about a name, but you are using the name, and that means you are talking about the thing itself. A thing is not a name.

Of course I don't disagree about the fact as such that "Byzantine Empire" is a later terminology, but I do also disagree about the idea that it has to be in the very first sentence. We are clarifying this just two sentences further down, still in the lead paragraph; that is quite sufficient. Fut.Perf. 00:42, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

Re: NJTP ramp opening dates

Thank you for your insight. Now that you mention it, Exit 7A probably doesn't need a new opening date. However, Exit 8 really should have it because the old exit has now been replaced with a brand new one. Thoughts? Mlaurenti (talk) 14:18, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

Almost forgot...I intentionally changed the mile marker for Exit 8 because the new ramp has been relocated almost 0.1 miles south of old one. Let me know. Thanks. Mlaurenti (talk) 14:20, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

Crataegus 'Crimson Cloud'

Hi, that fine photo of this cultivar that you've added to the Crataegus page prompted me to look up the book "Hawthorns and medlars" by Phipps et al. 2003. That book lists that cultivar as belonging to C. monogyna rather than C. laevigata, and I can confirm from both your image and the one in the book that the leaves do indeed look like C. monogyna and not like C. laevigata. Proposed deletion of List of county routes in Elko County, Nevada

The article List of county routes in Elko County, Nevada has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG; no demonstration of notability

While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Freezing rain

Hi,

If a mixture of rain and snow is better than rain and snow mixed, why the name of the article is then rain and snow mixed?

Pierre cb (talk) 23:47, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

Honestly I couldn't tell you, as I didn't start that article. The name works in some instances as is, but in others is clumsy compared to "a mixture of rain and snow". I don't think its a big deal to have the altered phrase; in English they are identical in meaning. Famartin (talk) 23:55, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

Edits to Nevada State Route 233

Martin, I have mixed feelings about the edits you made to Nevada State Route 233. You are correct that the literal route of the Califoria trail was several miles north of the route of this road (but not dozens of miles), and as such that wording of that section was poor. However, the article was accurate in stating that Interstate 80 follows the California trail across most of Nevada, because of the Humboldt River. Also, looking at this map , which admittedly is on a personal webpage, but is the closest thing I could find to a map of the California trail showing modern highways online, it is fairly clear that SR-233 is indeed the closest paved road that approximates the route of the CA trail in this part of Nevada. The Benchmark atlas used as the source confirms this. Not sure how to better word that, have any ideas? Dave (talk) 23:57, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

It really doesn't follow the California Trail in any way. It does follow the transcontinental railroad, that's true, which is why I left it. However, the California Trail diverges north of Interstate 80 at Wells, way over by Exit 350, while NV-233 diverges at Exit 378, almost 30 miles further east. The trail remains well to the northwest of NV-233. Examine northeastern Nevada on this NDOT highway map, which shows both roads and the California Trail, and see just how far apart they area (and how much closer the railroad is). http://www.nevadadot.com/uploadedFiles/NDOT/Traveler_Info/Maps/NevadaHighwayMap2011-12.pdf Famartin (talk) 00:06, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
Also note that in Nevada, most of the California Trail is actually closer to US 93 than NV 233. Famartin (talk) 00:10, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
I see your point. On a second glance it really depends on how far one zooms out or in to determine which one "more closely follows". If you zoom out so that part of Utah is visible, it does look like SR233 is closer, but once you zoom out to include Idaho, US 93 is the better choice. So you're probably right to remove that content, cheers, Dave (talk) 04:05, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

Jackpot Time Zone ==

I am not sure I see anything posted in Jackpot as a fact. You have a reference which says that it is illegal to ignore official time zones, and yet we have clear evidence that the airport is running in Mountain Time. The Faa doesn't make arbitrary decisions without some kind of authority. I realize what the fed register says. I feel like you have evidence to defend your case, but not facts.

There seems to be no legal quantity called "unofficial". I can set my personal clocks to Beijing time, but to set the post office, post highway signs, change maps, change Faa, etc. there must be something official. Pacomartin (talk) 18:28, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

You do ot delete a talk page discussion

You are on notice that you do not delete a talk page discussion and you have violated the three edit WP rule!66.74.176.59 (talk) 02:23, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

Actually, what you don't do is wander Misplaced Pages with an anonymous IP and "soap box" about the use of certain language, as you are doing. Log in with a real account like an honest and responsible person, or stop editing. Famartin (talk) 02:31, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

I'm not taking sides on the wording here, but your edits at Talk:Hopewell Township, Mercer County, New Jersey put you well past WP:3RR, closer to six by my count. I fail to see anything here that justifies removal of a talk page comment, even if you deem this to be a "soap box" issue. Alansohn (talk) 03:05, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

But you are takings and not making much of a headway as to resolving what is the problem--correcting a statement of text that is incorrect, based on statements of the time that we now know is incorrect. What do you think WP has to gain in the long run? A you did it so why bring up the issue claim or seeing that the perception of the time is corrected. That is not a soap box. That is the WP presenting the truth.66.74.176.59 (talk) 03:14, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
