Alexander Cunningham

I have serious doubts about the provenance of the supposed portrait of Alexander Cunningham, the archaeologist. That site mentioned as a source is a low-quality blog and when one looks around one finds that the image is taken from http://mcbrideandcunningham.blogspot.com/ and that refers to an Alexander Cunningham who was a brick mason. Florence Mildred White.

Hello Victuallers, Thank you for putting forward your views in the Teahouse. I accept you are quite correct in moving my text from my Mildred White article if that is what you wanted to do, but it was a bit of a shock to see parts of my hard work pop up in another article ! And, I have to he honest, I think some of the removed parts are vital in explaining MW in an encyclopedic way. You will see I have had a lot of problems with this article and I am still working on it to improve the 'non primary' sources but it is slow and time consuming, but I continue. I appreciate your offer of help should I get further issues and may well come back to you for advice. TimothyWF (talk) 21:13, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

I can see why you included the bits about "the bigger picture" but actually the wiki has very little about the bigger picture in you case. You should be able to make reference to the history of women in Policing in the article and link that to a more detailed description. As it is you had created a very good "stand alone" article .... but the wiki articles are not (meant to be) stand alone. Their wonderful feature is that you can burrow down to find more detail and this means that each article can concentrate on its story. In your case a very important biography.... but she was not the only important player and other organisations were important too. Anyway .... I do appreciate the note and I do realise that the wiki way is a shock..... but thats because it is a new way of working. We can be better than we could be alone. (1000 people will read your text next month in the new improved article - Well done!) All the best. Are you going to be at Wikimania? Victuallers (talk) 21:33, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Czia!

This is more than four years ago but you asked us to translate a few Hungarian articles; I think we did but have little record on our talk pages as we tend to clear them down regularly. But we both live in Hungary now and if you want a word either ask User:Monkap, my wife, or me, and we can probably have a stab at it. We tend as we must to keep a separate identity on WP, which is mostly for the best, but occasionally if you leave it logged in she or me edits as the other. That is not bad faith or sockpuppeting, I assure you. Si Trew (talk) 22:16, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the note Simon. I'll put this offer on the list. Is Hungarian your first language? Victuallers (talk) 22:38, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for September 16

Greenside Mine

Hi Victuallers Thanks for looking over the new article I'm working on, and for nominating it for DYK. I don't understand the stuff on the talk page though! What does "OK? before GA?" mean? And the stuff about the DYK nomination means nothing to me. Perhaps that doesn't matter, unless some response is needed from me! Anyway, thanks again Silence-is-infinite (talk) 20:59, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

Florence Mildred White

Hello Victuallers. I have been doing some more research on my article on Florence Mildred White, the first documented policewoman in England. I have found several sources relating to policewomen generally which are more suitable for the Women in Law Enforcement article than my White article which I would be pleased to forward to you if you want them. I am preparing a further section on White in her Talk, the result of further data. TimothyWF (talk) 19:12, 18 October 2014 (UTC)

Male vs. women writers

I saw your point here regarding the categorization of male vs. women writers. Just to note...we do in fact have categories such as Category:American male writers and Category:American male novelists. I don't know much about their origins, but I've begun using them as well. They fly under the radar, but they exist. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoLo dicono a Signa. 23:37, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

DYK

Thank you for your comments on my talk page. Actually it was you who first encouraged me and sparked my interest in DYK by nominating my first article Cefn Golau back in 2010 when I was a novice. That in turn led to my enthusiasm for Misplaced Pages. Thanks. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:13, 1 November 2014 (UTC) Thats brilliant I never realised.
