Help
I uploaded this image. It needs to illustrate line #44, Reese Street Historic District, in National Register of Historic Places listings in Clarke County, Georgia, but I can't get the formatting right. (Tables have never been my forte here.) Help? LadyofShalott 00:42, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- No problemo. APK whisper in my ear 04:20, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, I swear I thought I tried exactly what you did, and got a wrong-looking result. Oh well. LadyofShalott 16:22, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- :-) You're welcome. APK whisper in my ear 17:15, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
I've barely started a draft in my userspace for Hill FBC. I wonder if it might be better to do the whole district though. Do you have any experience with articles about districts, rather than discrete properties? LadyofShalott 17:46, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- The only district articles I've started were stubs back in 2008/2009. I've found, depending on the nomination form, there can be an overwhelming amount of information about lots of buildings (the more recent listings tend to be more thorough, like this novel for Washington Heights Historic District). So I've found it confusing as to where to start. :-/ That's why I usually stick to individual listings, minus these Civil War monuments I've been writing. The nomination form for the Reese Street Historic District is a short one though, so you might have a much easier time writing it. (not saying you couldn't write a great one using a long form, natch) APK whisper in my ear 19:06, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for that link! (How do you find those?) I'm not sure how I'm going to proceed - district or just the church, but either way, that helps. LadyofShalott 16:01, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
- Look on my user page under "easy links" and you'll find this one. It's a great tool by User:Elkman that provides links to NRHP nomination forms (for ones that have been digitized by the National Park Service, that is), not to mention an infobox and other helpful content like categories, etc. APK whisper in my ear 16:06, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
- I looked on the Georgia Department of Natural Resources' Historic Preservation Division site and found this which should come in handy. APK whisper in my ear 16:16, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
- @LadyofShalott: If you decide to write an article on the district, here's a start whenever you feel like it. APK whisper in my ear 23:25, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
- Lovely! I will build upon that. Meanwhile, I've put a stub for just the church at Hill First Baptist Church. I'll try to improve both, figuring a merger can be done later or not as seems best. LadyofShalott 17:57, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

Good to see you back
Few days late, and a few dollars short, and all, but still. (I'm a bit oblivious at the best of times, to say the least.) Many's the time I've regretted your loss from these precincts. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoLo dicono a Signa. 18:15, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks! It's good to be back. APK whisper in my ear 19:06, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- You out in Winchester now? Nice area. I don't know if you keep up with the NRHP listings for DC, but there have been some additions over the past year that have not yet, to my knowledge, had articles written about them. If you're interested in working your magic...
- Also, if you're looking for places to go on a photo-tour, there are a lot of things in the Shenandoah Valley which need photographing. I've done what I can in Rappahannock and Madison Counties, but there are a lot of gaps that want filling. (Had a chance to photograph this property from the road below it, but I didn't know it for what it was and so let it lie. It's a fascinating house - maybe someday I'll expand the article on it a tad.)
- Incidentally, I saw your exchange above on the subject of DYK. I'm sorry to agree with you (well, not because it's you, but because of the subject), but I do...I stopped contributing there long ago because it became more trouble than it was worth. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoLo dicono a Signa. 19:52, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah, my partner and I moved to Frederick County in 2013. (it's a big change from Dupont, that's for sure, but he's from this area) I'll take a look at some of the more recent D.C. listings when I finish my current work on D.C. Civil War monuments. I noticed there are a lot of Shenandoah Valley articles that need photographs. When I have more free time (and when it's warmer), I hope to take more photos. I was in the hospital for two months (July-August) and didn't start back at work until November, so I'm still kind of in recuperation mode and not going out much other than work and necessary errands. About DYK, it would be nice if the process was more simple like in olden days. I enjoyed contributing and reviewing articles there. APK whisper in my ear 22:15, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- I know points farther south myself, more than Frederick County - let me know if you need any suggestions for stuff to look at down in the Valley. I can think of a lot of stuff there that wants looking at, improving, that sort of thing. I suspect there's a lot in Clarke County that needs to be photographed.

Samir Becic (subject of a delete in 2012. Has literally 50 sources independent of him in major US and German newspapers and fitness trade journals)
APK,
You're on to something here. I'm not saying Kino's off or wasn't right in 2012. But A LOT has changed in three years-- especially independent, third-party press coverage in secondary sources for Samir Becic. It was premature to delete by fiat the page, now, in 2015. Can you please help me lobby this through?
I am politely requesting that you review the Samir Becic article at AFC and bring it live.
I posted the below on Kino's wall, especially given his clear "spite" towards "SPAs" and "IP" users. We're people too. Some of us are damn smart, too, and know Wiki rules with a quick read. This page should be live man.
== I get it. Some people are legit and not legit. Some people are "Too Early." But this warrants a review. I'm a fellow Ivy Leaguer-- no I didn't go to Yale-- but you're not working with an idiot here. I'm a lot more like you than the rest of the general public. Thanks for handling.2601:E:280:1C00:4D5E:4F3A:560A:36D9 (talk) 01:58, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

Suppressing Legitimate Information
Since when is negative information considered poor press on Misplaced Pages? The page you reverted multiple times was cited by more than 40 links to verified resources and claims that are also being verified. Why would you revive the edits on the page as written when it is, by itself, nothing more than self glorification Spam? This is important as you are actually assisting the individual in his actions. The page was selected for deletion two years ago because of this same situation. Why now revive one that is only an obvious smoke screen to push down legitimate reviews, complaints and press of the individual Joseph Chinnock. As I wrote before, all information within the page was cited accurately, yet you chopped it and kept a page that is cited off of the individual's personal blogs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Reportingfakes (talk • contribs)
- Read WP:BLP. You're adding defamatory content using unreliable sources. That is against Misplaced Pages policy. If you have a problem with this person, Misplaced Pages is not the place to deal with it. Take it elsewhere. I'll nominate the page for deletion since it was previously deleted, but do not continue adding defamatory material or you will be blocked. APK whisper in my ear 06:11, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
Museum hacks and museum edits
Hello there!
Upcoming events:
- February 6–8: The third annual ArtBytes Hackathon at the Walters Art Museum! This year Wikimedia DC is partnering with the Walters for a hack-a-thon at the intersection of art and technology, and I would like to see Wikimedia well represented.
- February 11: The monthly WikiSalon, same place as usual. RSVP on Meetup or just show up!
- February 15: Wiki Loves Small Museums in Ocean City. Mary Mark Ockerbloom, with support from Wikimedia DC, will be leading a workshop at the Small Museum Association Conference on how they can contribute to Misplaced Pages. Tons of representatives from GLAM institutions will be present, and we are looking for volunteers. If you would like to help out, check out "Information for Volunteers".
I am also pleased to announce events for Wikimedia DC Black History Month with Howard University and NPR. Details on those events soon.
If you have any questions or have any requests, please email me at james.harewikimediadc.org.

Wikimedia DC celebrates Black History Month, and more!
Hello again!
Not even a week ago I sent out a message talking about upcoming events in DC. Guess what? There are more events coming up in February.
First, as a reminder, there is a WikiSalon on February 11 (RSVP here or just show up) and Wiki Loves Small Museums at the Small Museum Association Conference on February 15 (more information here).
Now, I am very pleased to announce:
- Tuesday, February 17 from 10 AM to 3 PM there will be #WikiTurgy at the University of Maryland. Join fellow theatre enthusiasts for a “mass act of public dramaturgy!”
- Thursday, February 19 from 10 AM to 4 PM we are hosting the Howard University Black History Edit-a-Thon. We are working in partnership with the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center to improve Misplaced Pages’s coverage of African-American and African diasporic history.
- Tuesday, February 24 from 6 PM to 8 PM we have the Black History Month “First Edit” at NPR. Help improve Misplaced Pages and help others make their first edit to Misplaced Pages!
- Finally, our monthly dinner meetup is on Saturday, February 28.
There is going to be a lot going on, and I hope you can come to some of the events!
If you have any questions or need any special accommodations, please let me know.
Regards,

- You're welcome. It was an odd choice to be nominated for speedy deletion. Thanks for the welcome back. Things are...different (some good, some bad) around here for someone who has been away a few years. But it's nice to be back and write about random things in DC. Speaking of the District, yes, I no longer live there. I miss Dupont and Gomorrah (especially my favorite museum), but it's a lot cheaper to live out here and most people tend be very friendly. The recently created article Royal College (Panadura.) should in fact be deleted rather than be a redirect, it is simply a replica of a previously deleted article Royal College (Panadura), which the use has added a colon to the title within the brackets, so that it doesn't appear as a recreation of a deleted article. It would appear that all this is simply to try and get around the fact that the user was orginally blocked for his edits on Panadura Royal College. Dan arndt (talk) 09:39, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
- @Dan arndt: Ok. I redirected it before finding out the user was a sock. I've tagged it again, but feel free to change the reasoning if you think it's not correct. APK whisper in my ear 09:44, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
- Fully support the speedy delete however the editor has previously removed the tag twice without making any changes or contesting the speedy delete.Dan arndt (talk) 09:49, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
More abandoned User Pages Full of Porn
Could you check ANI for some more of these I have listed. I am not very familiar with the Speedy delete you tagged them with. Thanks 172.56.8.170 (talk) 13:21, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
- A long conversation was started about this at ANI. It seems to have been handled by other users. APK whisper in my ear 19:47, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
