Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Current requests for increase in protection level

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Article has been persistently targeted by single purpose accounts for months. Every few months new accounts pop up and "whitewash" the article, removing all negative commentary. The article has done the rounds at Misplaced Pages:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive833#David_Bergstein, Misplaced Pages:Conflict_of_interest/Noticeboard/Archive_73#David_Bergstein and Misplaced Pages:Sockpuppet investigations/LevilRowe/Archive. It all basically comes back to same thing though: new accounts removing all negative (and sourced commentary). It would be best to keep newly registered accounts permanently off the article. Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Keeps on getting recreated. Wgolf (talk) 18:03, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. Yopie (talk) 17:01, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Will also take a look at the users and block/open a SPI as needed. Bjelleklang - talk 18:22, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

    Template:Prussian princes (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – One person with many puppets (always new, one purpose) is pushing some hoax. Yopie (talk) 16:59, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

Permanent semi-protection: Ips and new accounts are still continuing to vandalize the article. I won't edit the article until it is protected, to avoid an edit war. Lippolop (talk) 16:51, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

    Hour record (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection: Disruptive IP edits made to the page. The page will be seeing an increase in traffic due to relaxation of the rules governing the Hour record in cycling - the format for the sections of the article has been discussed on the talk page an a persistent IP ignores this discussion and re-arranges the article as they see fit. Any help will be appreciated. XyZAn (talk) 16:07, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

America's Got Talent-related articles and template

Temporary semi-protection: High level of vandalism from IP/unconfirmed users. The vandalism mainly takes the form of a delusion about this U.S. NBC program originating from Singapore, and specifically in Season 3, about a different performer winning the contest (contradicted by NBC's website). Note that seasons 7-9 haven't received this type of vandalism, but I figure they should be included just in case. Stevie is the man! 16:16, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

Exodus: Gods and Kings (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection: Persistent IP vandalism and IP biased editing – Various forms; for example various IPs consistently removed movie from fantasy genre (presumably influenced by their religious beliefs), no reason ever given. Has occurred numerous times. As well as other forms of persistent IP vandalism such as today; changing a statement of National Media council in UAE from "so we will not release it in the UAE" to "so we are too butthurt to release it in the UAE" etc. Due to religious nature of article, I believe a non-temporary semi-protection would be appropriate, regardless it needs some level of semi-protection. • Good evening.
As much as I'm against censorship - I'm begging you to put some kind of protection to this page. It's being again and again vandalized by both unregistered members and "real" contributors. Misplaced Pages is NOT the right place for slander, spreading of unproven/untrue information and personal opinions!
    Best Regards, NaturalHeaven1979 (talk) 19:07, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Deor (talk) 15:40, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Further information: Misplaced Pages:Edit requests Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Fulfilled/denied requests

A rolling archive of the last seven days of protection requests can be found at Misplaced Pages:Requests for page protection/Rolling archive.
