This school formerly known as "The Advanced School of Commerce" and offered full-time programs in business management. After merger of the advanced school of commerce with some independent college in Tehran, the school offers a wide range of graduate-level academic programs and concentrations. This school also is the Iran's first business school that offered the full-time programs on Insurance and Organizational Development. Iranian prominent architect Nader Ardalan chosen to built this institute in 1971 which called Iran Centre for Management Studies. The innovations of this project were one of the first case studies to be taught and archived in the Aga Khan Award for Architecture at Harvard and MIT. Beside these important colleges, many independent college in management and accounting established in Tehran, including the Advanced School of Accounting and Finance of National Iranian Oil Company (1957), the College of Banking (1964), College of Iran Zamin (1969), Tehran College of Insurance (1970), Industrial Management Institute (1970), College of Tourism and Information (1972), Center for Public Management (1972), College of Airpost Training (1974), and International College of Administrative and Commercial Services (1976). After Islamic Revolution these colleges has merged and became an independent colleges under the supervision of Allameh Tabatabai University in 1983. This merger caused that the Allameh Tabatabai University evolved as the most eminent university in humanities and social sciences in Iran. The independent college has named the Faculty of Management and Accounting and offered BS, MBA, and PhD in management and accounting. in 2013, the accounting department of the school became independent college and the school concentrate on management. Nowadays, school grants degree in Strategic Management, Marketing, Insurance, Organizational Development, Human Resources, MIS, Production Management, Operations Research, IT Management and Hospitality Management.
