Jews for Jesus is an Evangelical Protestant organization founded in 1973 by Moishe Rosen. The organization claims that it is possible to believe in Jesus and still remain a Jew; this is referred to as a Messianic Judaism. However, others claim that they simply want to convert Jews to a belief in Christianity.
Jews for Jesus claim that all their missionaries are Jewish; critics say many never were. It is a controversial organization especially among American Jewry, and provokes hostility.
