Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    Derek Smart (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Will someone please add full protection to the Derek Smart page please? For many months now it has been the target of edit waring and it doesn't seem to be getting any better; especially with the anons. The latest edit I did is the most current based on recent revisions by most of us editing that page. Supreme_Cmdr 20:23, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

    User:AOL account (edit|links|history|logs)

Would someone mind semiprotecting my user page, not talk, but just the user page itself, apparently extended contact with AOL IPs makes one a vandalism target--AOL account 15:18, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

semiprotected. I didn't put a sprotect template on it atm, but can if you'd like. Syrthiss 15:24, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

    Jane Harman (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection: new and anonymous users are set on reverting this article to a completely inappropriate, non-neutral version. I edited and posted my comments on the talk page, but there is no apparent desire to constructively deal with the problems. A temporary restriction on editing by these new and anonymous users seems like the only recourse. --Padjet1 13:38, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

    Laurynas Gucevičius (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Full protection. The article is a battlefield for people quarrelling over his nationality. As long as everyone stayed cool and civil, adding new info to the article, it was all nice and fine. However, lately the war (I'm taking part in, BTW) has reached the stage where people remove sources from the article when they do not confirm their views, which is not the right thing to do. How about some time for cooling? //Halibutt 09:10, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Yes this page should be protected. Especially that Masulis part, until Hallibutt provides and cites verifyable scientific article on that matter. Because now its Hallibutts POV v cited source and scientific interpetation of that source.Encyclopaedia Editing Dude 09:52, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
Hmmm... Your interpretation is scientific, right? Anyway, both sides agree apparently, so this seems like a clear case. //Halibutt 16:36, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
I'm not a participant of this circus, so I recommend both parties to go play elsewhere. No protection for this article is recommended. --Ghirla 16:40, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

    Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Jeffree Star (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

I am somewhat familiar on who Jeffree Star is and I'm not a fan, and I know he is bizarre and strange and deemed obscene, and labeled a "media whore" and "attention whore" but there should at least be an article about him. There are curious people who might want to know who he is. He has over a million fans, and has been a phenomeon on MySpace, and will become a signed musician. There are some comparable people that are controversial such as Paris Hilton, Marilyn Manson, Tila Tequila (also a MySpace phenomeon), and many others that have Misplaced Pages articles.

Why keep the article deleted and protected. At least make it semi-protected.--grejlen - talk 22:51, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Current requests for significant edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Hilda Toledano (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Her real name was Maria Pia de Saxe Coburg Braganza. In really she was the daughter of the king Charles of Portugal. This was the definitive sentence of the Sacra Romana Rota, the most important tribunal for cattolich birth. So the doubts of many wiki user that use this page for vandalism are groundless because the official document states she was daughter of the king. So she is a real pretender. Please delete in this page the link to "impostor pretender" because this affirmation is false. And please so stop with this protection and in this page write only official and objective documented facts and not doubts or personal opinion because this is a encyclopedia and not a talk page. Semi-protect An anonymous user is engaging in an edit war over a picture. I am currently trying to settle the matter in the talk page. Making him register to edit will help communication. Xuanwu 07:29, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

It looks like a regular content dispute to me, Xuanwu, and we can't use sprotect in such cases, because it puts the anon at a disadvantage. He may actually be right about the image. I'm not sure you can claim fair use for a Simpsons image on an article that's not about the Simpsons (though I'm no fair-use expert, so I could be wrong). SlimVirgin 07:47, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

    Mosque (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

The current version of this article appears to be protected by a hacking program that removes any edit and adds an insulting comment:

.....THERE..PHEW! IT'S A GOOD THING THAT THERE'S MORE THAN A BILLION MUSLIMS IN THIS WORLD AND THEY TOO HAVE THE ABILITY TO READ AND EDIT WIKIPEDIA.....

Here is my text that was automatically removed - repeatedly:

However, the Iberian Peninsula is one of few regions in the world that was once held by a Muslim government but recaptured by non-Muslims. A similar process occured in the Balkans following the collapse of Ottoman Muslim rule between 1878 and 1912.

Hagia Sophia in Constantinople, however, is now a museum and the whitwashed frescoes on its interior walls have been restored.

I modified the first sentense to reflect that Spain wasn't a majority Muslim country (it wasn't), and added the other two. They are not controversial. 68.5.64.178 00:46, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

    2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

semi-protection Due to the ongoin escalation of the conflict many anons constantly edit this high traffic page who appear unfamiliar with wiki policy and npov guidelines, perhaps it would be best to limit editing of this important current event to established users. --NEMT 19:23, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

I checked the logs for that page, and it doesn't seem to be protected, why? Myrtone () 15:06, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
I just checked on the page, and it is semi-protected. The cause it doesn't appear on the logs above is that the veritable article is at World of Warcraft (capitalized Warcraft). Lectonar 15:17, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

    Firebender (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

    Template:Southern Baptists (edit | ] | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

According to my review of its history, this remplate has never been vandalized. At one point, an anonymous user added some links under the "baptist doctrine" section that User:Diezba felt were unwarrented (I haven't studied the matter), but this was certainly not vandalism. As the semi-protection policy states that it should not be used preemptively (pace Bush), then I propose that this template lose semi-protect status. --Zantastik talk 20:14, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

    Kosovo War (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection I request a semi-protection of this article as one anonymous user uses many IP accounts to make personal attacks, and to add unsourced and controversial statements to the Kosovo War article. Attemts to have a civil debate based on sourced information have failed. A long term semi-protection would force that user to register, so he could be instructed about the rules of Misplaced Pages by me and by other wikipedians. Attemts to have a civil debate based on sourced information have failed. An attemt to ask other wikipedians for assistance has also failed. I do not think a full protection of this article would be necessary or helpful. See the talk page and history page of the Kosovo War article for details on the revert war. Thank you for your time.
