Hello, MacRusgail. After an alert by NeilN, I've taken a look at your recent editing. It's obvious you aren't enjoying Misplaced Pages right now. I'm sorry. But that doesn't excuse the rudeness from you that I see for instance , and (nasty assumption of bad faith there). Jbhunley, who has been editing both competently and in good faith, and has extended several olive branches to you, doesn't deserve having ''their'' editing experience soured to such an extent. I'm also sorry to see you've been blowing off the very reasonable warnings and explanations from Neil. It shouldn't actually take an admin or a block threat to convince you that you need to follow our policies and guidelines. But since nothing else has helped, I'm hereby warning you: any more personal attacks and I'll ]. I don't like the idea, especially since you've been here since 2005 and have a clean block log, but you really need to pull in your horns. ] | ] 15:42, 25 May 2015 (UTC).

American bias

Thanks for contributing. I entirely agree regarding List of sports team names and mascots derived from indigenous peoples, but cannot help being 100% American (33% Scottish, 33% Irish, 33% German, 1% Indigenous); and not even a sports fan but a science nerd. I only re-wrote the opening section since it is relevant to my other interests.FriendlyFred (talk) 15:47, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for response. In some places it's a bit difficult working out who's indigenous and who's not. There's certainly a few other teams knocking about. I found several more ice hockey teams such as the Winnipeg Warriors. -MacRùsgail (talk) 15:52, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 31

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Aberdeen, Washington, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page New York School (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Tidying private school articles.

Thanks for taking an interest- there is a lot of dross that needs to be culled. However you have been going OTT with the 'Another private school article obviously written by staff i.e. conflict of interest'. There are several points to consider. I have been patrolling several of these articles for many years- and I would encourage members of staff to get involved, as most of the dire rubbish and extreme POVs appears to have been put there by bored pupils (future Wikipedians).

Conflict of interest on Misplaced Pages is a complex topic and is encouraged where personally I would rule it out. If the member of staff is correcting facts that is brilliant- they indeed have access to the expensive school histories that are only otherwise found in the designated libraries. If they start using 'adjectives' the case becomes more border line. If they c&p advertising copy that is ill advised but not necessarily CofI. We have to test primary and secondary sources. I would say that if it is taken from the pupils planner- that is a secondary source so permissable. If if comes from the staff planner that is Primary source unless these are issued to supply teachers of self-employed peri's when it slides into secondary source. The true primary source will be documents written for the board of governors.

You can tell the integrity of the member of staff by checking whether he has published a statement of a possible conflict on his user talk page and on the article talk page.

Part of our potential user base is outside the UK and loves Harry Potter articles, and cannot see a problem with just writing about the elite. A secondary modern school is beyonf their grip- but it is these people who make the final decision. They cannot see that the new science block has anything to do with the donor issuing zero-hours contracts, bedroom tax or systemic asset stripping.

In a very non-wikipedian way of talking, I need you to continue to sift through the pile and extract the puff words and rm unreferenced clap-trap, but equally we do need to find an example of a miscreant before we jump to an assumption. In cases where I have already be monitoring I may revert some of your tags- but I feel you should self revert if you cannot name the suspect.

Yes I did teach in the state sector as a career mostly in schools in difficult areas of the inner city- and my children went to state comprehensives not being allow a choice in the matter. Back to creating an encyclopedia. -- Clem Rutter (talk) 17:33, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi MacRùsgail- sorry to hear that you've had some bad experiences that would make you avoid a meetups. I really hope you'll reconsider in the future! We have the WMUK interim CEO here today and he would be particularly interested in talking to you and hearing your experiences and perspective. Also given your Gaelic background, you'd be a particularly interesting Wikimedian to have involved. Hopefully we'll see you sometime in the future? ACrockford (talk) 13:24, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

You are a very welcome guest at a Manchester Meetup too. Look forward to buying you a pint.-- Clem Rutter (talk) 18:26, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

Rugby union in Serbia

There is a problem with the standard format for "rugby union in X" articles as per the infobox at the right. Serbia has never played at any of:

It's box ticking of the worst kind to list these as "National Competitions" for most countries and, moreover it's false and misleading information.

I didn't revert your restoration of the Serbian list but all these lists where not applicable should be removed.

What I have reverted is your removal of the SRU logo. It has a valid fair use rationale and is more applicable to the Rugby in Serbia article that a 97 year old photo from Britain. If there is another suitable picture available that is actually of rugby in Serbia then by all means replace it. -- Ham105 (talk) 21:39, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

In answer to the last point, I think that the SRU should be its own article, as this is really an overview of the sport, not specifically about the union. From experience, I find that logos are often deleted from articles which are not specifically about them.
I favour the use of the ninety seven year old picture personally, because it shows how far back the history of the sport goes back in the area. Rather than being portrayed as a recent introduction.
I'll take a look at the box.-MacRùsgail (talk) 14:27, 10 February 2015 (UTC) p.s. Regarding these - Rugby World Cup, Rugby World Cup Sevens & IRB Sevens World Series - Serbia goes into the qualifiers for all of these, as it is an IRB member as far as I can tell, so yes, they qualify. There's still nothing in the article about the national team though.

Non-European dowsing

To spare other editors on what may (to most people) be a minor point, I thought I would move the discussion here. You refer to "overlap" between dowsing and feng shui. I would call the two complementary, but I am puzzled about "massive overlap." That would mean that practitioners of traditional feng shui are practicing dowsing to some extent, and vice versa. There are many definitions of dowsing (it's a rather difficult thing to pin down), but I am not familiar with any practice of traditional feng shui that could reasonably be called dowsing. My knowledge of feng shui is very limited, but from what I understand, it interprets the flow of subtle energy based on the visible aspects of landscape and architecture. Today, of course, at least in the west, I expect that there are many practitioners who combine the two. I have been looking for solid evidence of dowsing anywhere in the world that pre-dates the documented rise of the practice in central Europe of the 1500s, but I have not (yet) found any. If you could point some out to me, such as a part of the traditional practice of feng shui that is dowsing, I would be grateful. Thanks. Plazak (talk) 15:06, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

Cornish people

"Erm, no" is a bit dismissive, isn't it? You re-added an unnecessary redlink. I'm well aware of the Cornish position - hopefully my wording is an acceptable compromise given that (like it or not - I'm sure you don't) Cornwall is administered as part of England. Ghmyrtle (talk) 14:58, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

"Great Britain", "UK" etc, suits both political positions on this matter, whereas yours just consciously pisses off one side.-MacRùsgail (talk) 15:00, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

Hello

Nice work at the list article. Please will you tell me the reason why this is a redlink? --Dweller (talk) 10:35, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

FYI

Following up on your comments from the talkpage, there was in fact a relisting and is ongoing discussion here. --Epeefleche (talk) 03:13, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
