Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao (/ˈkɑːmiːlɑː ˈkɑːbeɪjoʊ/; born March 3, 1997), better known simply as Camila Cabello, is an American singer-songwriter. Cabello has been a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony since their formation on The X Factor US in 2012. She has sold over 2.5 million records in the U.S. with Fifth Harmony.
Life and career
2013–present: Success with Fifth Harmony
She auditioned for The X Factor U.S with the song "R.E.S.P.E.C.T." by Aretha Franklin but was later put into girl-group Fifth Harmony. Cabello co-wrote the songs "Don't Want to Dance Alone", "Who Are You", and "Me & My Girls" from Fifth Harmony's debut extended playBetter Together. It has also been reported that Cabello has co-written some songs for LunchMoney Lewis's upcoming album. Mattel has designed a Barbie doll based on Cabello's likeness.
Karla Camila Cabello was born in Cuba on March 3, 1997 to parents Alejandro and Sinuhe Cabello. She has a sister named Sofía. She is of Hispanic descent. By the time she was five years old, Cabello had lived in Havana and Mexico before permanently relocating to Miami, Florida. Growing up she listened to Latin artists such as Celia Cruz and Alejandro Fernandez. She dated fellow singer Austin Mahone in 2014. Cabello is a close friend of Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez.
She is noted for her outspoken support of LGBT people and has shown public support of transgender fans.
