Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao (born March 3, 1997) is a Cuban-American singer, known as a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony. In 2012, Cabello auditioned as a solo act for the American version of The X Factor. After being eliminated as a solo performer, Camila was brought back into the competition, along with four other female contestants, to form a girl group (back then known as LYLAS, 1432 and now Fifth Harmony). She is half Cuban and half Mexican.
Life and career
1997–2012: Early life and The X Factor USA
Cabello was born in Cojimar, Cuba, to Sinuhe Cabello, who is of Cuban descent, and Alejandro Cabello, who is of Mexican descent. She lived there until she was five years old and moved to Mexico for a short period. She and her mother then moved to Miami to settle where Cabello, who spoke only Spanish, learned English on her own. She attended Miami Palmetto High School though she withdrew in the middle of her 2012-2013 year of school and went homeschooling.
Her mother recalls that instead of a traditional quinceanera party, Cabello wanted to audition for the X-Factor. She auditioned for The X-Factor in 2012, as a solo act in Greensboro, North Carolina Cabello made it as far as the bootcamp rounds. Simon Cowell decided to use Cabello and other young women who were cut in these rounds to create all-female pop groups. Cabello's audition and bootcamp performances for X Factor were not shown on the show due to copyright issues. The group that Camila was placed into named themselves Fifth Harmony.
2013–present: Success with Fifth Harmony
She auditioned for The X Factor U.S with the song "R.E.S.P.E.C.T." by Aretha Franklin but was later put into girl-group Fifth Harmony. Cabello co-wrote the songs "Don't Want to Dance Alone", "Who Are You", and "Me & My Girls" from Fifth Harmony's debut extended play Better Together. It has also been reported that Cabello has co-written some songs for LunchMoney Lewis's upcoming album. Mattel has designed a Barbie doll based on Cabello's likeness.

Cabello has repeatedly cited Ed Sheeran and Demi Lovato as sources of inspiration. She's also stated Alejandro Sanz, Luis Miguel and David Bisbal as some of her Latin musical influences.
Personal life
Karla Camila Cabello was born in Cuba on March 3, 1997 to parents Alejandro and Sinuhe Cabello. She has a sister named Sofía. She is of Hispanic descent.
By the time she was five years old, Cabello had lived in Havana and Mexico before permanently relocating to Miami, Florida. Growing up she listened to Latin artists such as Celia Cruz and Alejandro Fernandez. Cabello is a friend of Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift, and has supported the latter's complaint to Apple Inc. over payment from streaming sales.
She is noted for her outspoken support of LGBT people and has shown public support of transgender fans.
