Jews for Jesus is an Evangelical Protestant organization founded in 1973 by Moishe Rosen with a goal of converting Jews to a belief in Christianity. It is very important to understand that the members of Jews for Jesus consider themselves to be Jews. They either were born to Jewish mothers, converted to Judaism before becoming Christians, or have married into Jewish families.
Their official mission statement is "to make the messiahship of Jesus an unavoidable issue to our Jewish people worldwide," and the organization claims to be "one of the most extensive evangelistic outreaches to Jewish people in the world today." They have also sent their members to the Ukraine and Russia.
Jews for Jesus is a controversial organization among many American Jews.
