Thomas Hannifan is a commentator better known by his stage name Tom Phillips signed to WWE. He currently works as the lead commentator for SmackDown.
Penn State University and Juniata College
Hannifan's first broadcasting experience was as an announcer for a football game his sophomore year of high school, where he also played football and track and field. It was then he immediately knew he wanted to be in sports broadcasting. Hannifan also has a broadcast journalism degree from Penn State University and also spent time calling women’s basketball games for the Big Ten Network while in college. Hannifan was articipated in talk shows and did play-by-play announcing for basketball, soccer, football, baseball and softball during his four years at Penn State. He was also the lead broadcaster for Juniata College basketball and football games in 2011-2012. He describes himself as "lucky and proud to be part of WWE."
WWE (2012-present)
Hannifan conducts backstage interviews for the WWE App on Raw and is the lead announcer on "WWE Superstars” with color commentator Renee Young, and the lead announcer on SmackDown flanked by color commentators Jerry Lawler and Byron Saxton.
