A man who has lived for

20 years

in his enemy's country, work in the most dangerous profession in history, not for money, not for power or influence but for his country Egypt and the great Arab homeland. Most information about him is still confidential until this very day. He wasn't afraid of death, spent twenty years carrying his life in his hands, was not afraid of anything but God. An adventurer in a sea of events and political conflicts. He is Refaat Ali Sleeman Al-Gammal Also know as Raafat Al-Haggan in Egypt and as Jack Bitton in Israel .

According to the Egyptian Intelligence, He moved to Israel working for the Egyptian Intelligence in 1954. Then he became a bright character in the Israeili Society and made a lot of commercial projects. According to the Egyptian Story, He provided the egyptian intelligence with very important information while keeping his tourism company as a front. Some of them were information about the Six-Day_War and he had a very important role in Yom_Kippur_War by providing Egypt with detailed Engineering information about Bar Lev Line. ElGamal is considered a national hero in Egypt who worked for 20 years with great success in Israel.

On the other side, Israel replied saying that the information published by the Egyptian Intelligence is pure fiction and very complicated and that the Egyptians should be proud to make such story. But after the pressure of the Israeili press, The Mosaad said that they were feeling a great Breakthrough in the top of the Israeili Security System but they never suspected Jack Bitton (Refaat ElGamal).

The Israeili Press started then to find out the truth about Bitton. An israeili newspaper wrote that Jack Bitton was an egyptian jew born in El Mansoura in 1919. He Arrived to Israel in 1955 then left it for the last time in 1973 making a lot of friendships with people like Golda_Meir and Moshe_Dayan.

His Early Life

Born in the city "Damietta" in the "Arab Republic of Egypt" in July 1st, 1927 where his father worked in the coal trade, his mother was a housewife from a decent family. She spoke English and French in addition to Arabic of course. He learned English and French in a private school. In 1963, his father died leaving the big brother "Samy" responsible for the family, then the whole family moved to Cairo where a new chapter of Raafat's life began.

Raafat's character wasn't a responsible character: he was a careless student who never cared much for his studies, so his family decided to roll him in the intermediate school of commerce where he was astonished by the british and impressed by their struggle against the onslaught of the Nazi. And because he who loves a society tries to learn everything about it, Refaat learnt English very well, and copied the british accent. He also learnt French very well. And these were the first blocks in buliding the most famous Egyptian spy ever.

He graduated in 1946 and applied for a job as an accountant in an oil company working in the although there were so many people who applied for this job He was choosen probably because he knows both English and French then he was fired as he was accused of stealing money from the company. He moved from one job to another and eventually he worked as an assitant for an accounting officer in the ship Horus. Only two weeks after work he left Egypt for the first time in his life on Horus. Horus travelled to Naples, Genoa, Marseille, Barcelona, Tangier and eventually the ship stopped at Liverpool's port to perform some repairs then it was supposed to travel to Mumbai

There in Liverpool he found an interesting offer to work in a tourism company, Later he moved to the USA without a Visa or a Green Card, The Immigration Authorities started to run after him which forced him to move to Canada then to Germany where The Egyptian Consul accused him of selling his passport and refused to give him a Travel document then the German Police arrested him and decided to deport him to Egypt. Refaat is back to Egypt without nither a job nor a passprt, He felt despair until he had the chance to work in the Company of Suez_Canal which suits him and his languages but this job required papers, documents and identity so Refaat began to invade the lower world and met a deceiver who gave him fale passport with the name "Ali Mostafa" then he managed to get the Job, his life seemed stable.

Then the revolution of 1952 broke out, The british felt worried and realized that the Egyptians sympathize with the new System then they started to revise their documents which made Refaat worried so he left the job and got a new false passport for a swiss journalist and he kept living like this from a name to another until he got arrested by a british officer while he was travelling to Libya after the political changes in 1953. When he got arrested, he was carrying a british passport but the british officer thought he was jewish then he was given to the Egyptian Intelligence which started an invistigation with him as a jewish.

His start as a spy

The main charge of ElGamal was being a jewish officer named "David Artson". At the same time, he was carrying a british passport with the name of "Danial Caldwell", They also found cheques signed with the name "Refaat Elgamal" with him and he also spoke Arabic fluently. The officer "Hassan Hosny" from the secret police was responsible for the invsitigation, After a long invistigation, ElGamal confessed his true identity and his whole story and how he merged with the jews then it was found that the Jews don't suspect even for a second that he's not one of them.
