Also Outside of Sweden

This particular type of music is found all-over northern, central and east Europe. Nothing uniquely Swedish but the Swedish music contribution to this genre is massive. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leauqi (talkcontribs) 20:51, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Lame

It doesn't say anything about its sillyness anywhere in the article... :P --83.248.190.175 20:32, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Yes the article have a rather biazed positive spin as if Dansband was a good thing when it really is the devil incarnated. :D --ChristianKarlsson.se 14:36, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
The articles shall follow a "Neutral point of view", not an "Anti-dansband point of view". For some people, dansband music is the ultimate music. / J 1982 03:21, 3 July 2007 (CEST)
Well, contemporary dance band is nothing like silly, just pointless. Late 70-mid 80 dance band on the other hand.. then we're talking sillyness.. 83.209.100.50 00:30, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Sarnath

Dansband?

Even if I am Swedish I have to ask, "dansband" however could this be an English term? Well, then we can copy all titles from Swedish Misplaced Pages and just translate the text. I'll add "heltäckningsmatta" next. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.236.66.226 (talk) 10:40, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Dansband is a genre and a concept, and shouldn't be translated, just as "rock", "funk" and "country" music shouldn't be literally translated. Since there isn't any real equivalent in English, the original word is retained. 惑乱 分からん * \)/ (\ (< \) (2 /) /)/ * (talk) 18:52, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
On the other hand, there are many similarities between "dansband" and "country music", booth musicaly and cultural. Perhaps this can be considered as a sub-genre? 82.183.224.73 (talk) 08:30, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
There are some relations, but not completely. Although country music could be considered a precursor to dansband, it has also been influenced by other sources such as 50's rock, 60's pop and European schlager music. 惑乱 Wakuran (talk) 14:54, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Schlager

What's the difference between "dansbandmusik" and schlager? --Lalli (talk) 13:22, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

It's hard to explain exactly, but Schlager is more pop-oriented, also their arenas are different, dansband arenas are built for dancing, schlager arenas are built for watching a show. Try to download some samples and judge for yourself. 惑乱 分からん * \)/ (\ (< \) (2 /) /)/ * (talk) 18:54, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

The cache

Perhaps it should be noted that these artists/bands make shitloads of money. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.172.223.220 (talk) 07:31, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

I actually doubt it. The major names, such as Vikingarna, are probably rather well off, but for most bands in the scene, there likely is a lot of hard work and tedious travelling for very moderate pay. The whole scene has been declining since the 70's. 惑乱 Wakuran (talk) 13:51, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

Dance band

I am sure that this is a proper Swedish term - but dance bands were very much in vogue between the Twenties and Fifties in the UK. I am not all sure why there isn't a proper article on them. Phil Tate was one of the leaders; as was Geraldo, and Henry Hall.Peter Shearan (talk) 13:42, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Shouldn't ABBA get some attention here?

Some of the ABBA members have their background in dansband, and the early music of ABBA had a major influence on later dansband. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.14.10.204 (talk) 19:19, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
