Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT) (Template:Lang-hi), formerly Delhi Institute of Technology (DIT) (Template:Lang-hi), is one of the top engineering colleges in India. Established in 1983, it is an autonomous institution of the Government of Delhi. The campus is situated at Azad Hind Fauj Marg, Sector - 3, Dwarka, New Delhi. It is the only engineering college under University of Delhi after the formation of erstwhile DCE to DTU.

Towards meeting the growing demand of manpower in the field of technology, the then Delhi Administration, with the approval of Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Govt. of India, established a new Engineering College by the name of Delhi Institute of Technology (DIT) in July, 1983. it is done

In the year 1983, the Institute started with the academic program at UG level in the area of Electronics & Communication Engineering with an intake of 45 Students under the Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi. New programs in the areas of Computer Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, and Manufacturing Processes & Automation Engineering were added subsequently. Administrative autonomy was granted to the institute in 1986. The Institute was registered as a Society in the name of "Delhi Institute of Technology" (DIT) on 12 June 1987 under the Societies Registration Act No. XXI of 1860 (Registration No. S-17742 of 1987). The Institute initiated Ph.D. programs in 1989 and also formulated a number of PG programs, four of which were approved by the AICTE in the year 1994. The Institute has been and is affiliated to University of Delhi for all its UG, PG and Ph.D. programs.

The Institute was formally inaugurated in its own new campus in Dwarka, New Delhi, 23 January 1997 by Atal Bihari Vajpayee , former Prime Minister of India. The Institute was renamed as "Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology" (NSIT) in the year 1997 vide a Gazette notificatioN.

Campus

NSIT has a beautifully landscaped and fully residential campus, sprawling 145 acres of land. A wide range of facilities including faculty & staff residences, hostels, cooperative mess, sports complex, banks, post office, shopping complex is available. A prominent feature of NSIT’s campus is the vast expanse of flora & fauna that envelopes its entirety. The lush green campus welcomes a diverse community of students, faculty, staff & visitors in its midst. The campus is divided into clusters of buildings. The academic area chiefly comprises the main building and various departmental annexes.

Cultural and Non-acadamic Activities

The annual cultural festival Moksha, usually held in the month of March is an event hosted by the students and the largest of its kind in Delhi region. The most attractive feature of this 3-day event are the influential personalities who have graced the festival like Manish Sisodia, Dr. Kumar Vishwas,. Moksha is well known for holding the best cultural competitions, games and musical concerts to draw out the best talent in the Delhi region.

Cultural activities like dramatics, Speaking, Literary Arts, Music and Fine Arts also mark an important feature in the life of a student of NSIT. Speaking and Literary Arts have always been very popular in the student community with students actively participating in quizzing, writing and debating activities. NSIT is well known name in the quizzing fraternity of the country and performed very well on National level..

Mode of admission

Until 2009, NSIT admitted students through the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) along with Delhi College of Engineering (now Delhi Technological University ). Later, both colleges admitted students via the All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE). Since the renaming of the same in 2013, students are now admitted through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-MAINS).The college year after year sees better quality of students with a cut off bars raising every year continuing to add to legacy of college.The medium of instruction for all the courses at the university is English.
