This station is currently (], ]) undergoing renovation. Construction contractors have demolished the westbound building, erected a temporary platform covering the northernmost track, and poured the foundation columns for the new building. Westbound trains currently use the center track. The platform has a number of bus-stop-like shelters along its length, plus a number of LCD monitors that display westbound train information every weekday evening during peak hours.

Newark Broad Street Station is a historic New Jersey Transit commuter rail station in Newark, New Jersey. Built in 1906 by the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad to serve its line from Hoboken to Denville, the station's historic architecture includes an elegant clock tower and a brick and stone façade on the station's main building.

Renovations

This station is currently (August 21, 2006) undergoing renovation. Construction contractors have demolished the westbound building, erected a temporary platform covering the northernmost track, and poured the foundation columns for the new building. Westbound trains currently use the center track. The platform has a number of bus-stop-like shelters along its length, plus a number of LCD monitors that display westbound train information every weekday evening during peak hours.

New Jersey Transit Rail Service

Broad Street Station is currently served by the Morristown Line and the Gladstone Branch of the Morris and Essex Lines, and the Montclair-Boonton Line.

New Jersey Transit Bus Service

Buses 11, 13, 27, 28, 29, 39, 41, 43, 72, 76, 78, and 108 stop regularly at this station in both directions.

Newark Light Rail Line

This station is the northern terminus of the Newark Light Rail line from Newark Penn Station. Service on this line opened on July 17, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
