I've been adding off bits and bobs of local history of the English region of my birth (where I spent most of my life until 1993 when I moved to London). | |||
There is a fair amount to be proud of, I suppose, though as with most history it doesn't really foster pride if you look beneath the surface. The Jarrow Crusade, for instance, is a source of pride in my region, but only because at the time my people were so enslaved to their masters that they could be discarded like old boots--and they were. The march was really just a way of saying "we are human, you cannot let them treat us like this." |
