Nickolas Varvaris (born 25 May 1974) is an Australian politician. He has been a Liberal member of the Australian House of Representatives, representing the Division of Barton in New South Wales since September 2013, having achieved a swing of over 7% to the government.

Early years and background

Varvaris was born a twin child in a Greek migrant family of five children, in Sydney, New South Wales. A BBus (UTS), CPA graduate, he owned his own local business before entering politics. He was also a councillor of the Kogarah City Council from 1999 and was the mayor from 2008. During his mayoralty the Sydney suburb of Kogarah was upgraded to city status and won the international award of the most livable city in its category.

He is married with two children.

2016 Federal Redistribution

As part of the process of seats redistribution, the electoral commission received hundreds of submissions by constituents supporting retaining the Barton boundaries. These included two written by his parents and numerous Greek Australians.
