Suicide Squad 2 is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics antihero team Suicide Squad. It is intended to be the sequel to 2016's Suicide Squad and an installment in the DC Extended Universe. The film will be directed by David Ayer and stars Will Smith.

Production

In March 2016, it was announced that Warner Bros. would bring director David Ayer and actor Will Smith back for a Suicide Squad sequel, to be shot in 2017 after the pair completed filming another project, Bright, in 2016. The following month, Ayer expressed an interest in making the sequel R-rated. Karen Fukuhara has stated that she wants to explore Katana's backstory in the sequel.
