Cheltenham Girls High School is a local comprehensive high school in Cheltenham, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was established in 1958. The principal is Ms Susan Marshall as of Term 2, 2003.
History
Cheltenham Girls High School was founded by Bessie Mitchell in 1958. It is located on the former residential estate of the Vicars family, who donated the land for the purpose of building a School. A stained glass window from the original house is now located in the school foyer. Miss Mitchell was awarded an MBE for her services to education. She died in 1998.
A former principal, Mrs Margaret Shore, died of cancer in 2003 shortly after being diagnosed and resigning from her position. The current principal is Ms Susan Marshall. Cheltenham Girls is best known for being a student collective of catty, shallow and bitchy teenage girls whose, main concern are the shortness of their school uniform, the height of their socks and hair, their layors of hair and of course, group politics. The level of bullying at the school is constantly high with a weak to none-existent bullying policy set down by the staff. There is also no attention and focus given to depressed and/or mentally ill students, with the staff's general solution to such problems would be a reccomendation for the student to leave the school.
