Jeffrey Lynn "Jeff" Goldblum (born October 22, 1952 in Whitaker, Pennsylvania) is a film actor, known for his often quirky, intense or comedic characters (often scientists), distinctive appearance (dark haired and lanky, and at 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) he is one of Hollywood's tallest actors) and his unique, stuttered delivery of lines.
Goldblum, the third son of a Jewish doctor and a radio moderator, moved to New York City at 17 to become an actor. He worked on the stage and studied acting at the renowned Neighborhood Playhouse under the guidance of acting coach Sanford Meisner. He made his Broadway debut in a production of The Two Gentlemen of Verona. He is an excellent jazz piano singer, and declared that should he not act, he would spend his life for music.
Goldblum has had leading roles in films such as The Fly (arguably his most powerful and acclaimed performance) and The Tall Guy. Goldblum's strong supporting roles include those in Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), The Big Chill (1983), Into the Night (1985), Earth Girls Are Easy (1988), Jurassic Park (1993), and Independence Day (1996). He also had a supporting role in the 1984 cult film The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension.
Goldblum was the voice for most of the US Apple commercials, including the ones for the iBook. He also voices some of the US Toyota commercials as well as Procter & Gambles facial cream line.
Goldblum teaches acting at Playhouse West in North Hollywood, along with Robert Carnegie. It was with several actors from this acting company that he improvised and directed the live action short film, Little Surprises, which was nominated for an Academy Award in 1996. Goldblum is rumored to be playing Ian Malcolm in the upcoming film Jurassic Park IV
Personal life
Goldblum has been married twice. He was married to Patricia Gaul from 1980 to 1986. He was later married to Geena Davis from November 1, 1987 to October 1990, with whom he starred in three films, including the comedy Earth Girls Are Easy. He claims to have maintained a good friendship with her in the ensuing years, saying, "she's a wonderful person and a wonderful actress." According to E! Online Goldblum allegedly divorced Geena Davis because she was violent to animals, especially against his dog Roland . He has also been engaged to Laura Dern, with whom he co-starred in Jurassic Park. Goldblum was engaged to Catherine Wreford, a Canadian dancer, as documented in his 2006 mockumentary/documentary Pittsburgh, but is no longer. He has also recently purchased a Taco Bell franchise in Boulder, Colorado.

Trivia
- Jeff Goldblum's only notable catchphrase is the line "Must go faster!", which he has said in at least 2 of his films: during the T. Rex chase scene in Jurassic Park (1993) and the scene where he and Will Smith outfly an explosion in Independence Day (1996).
- However, another one of Goldblum's lines is also gaining notoreity. One of Goldblum's first roles was a hoodlum in the Charles Bronson movie Death Wish. Goldblum's line as he's attacking Paul Kersey's wife - "GODDAMN RICH CUNT! I KILL RICH CUNTS!" - has been turned into an Internet meme and is also frequently featured as a sound clip on the Opie and Anthony show on XM Satellite Radio. The clip has gained so much popularity that it was cleaned up for Opie and Anthony's terrestrial (and FCC compliant) radio show, heard primarily on CBS Radio and Citadel Broadcasting radio stations nationwide. The offending word was replaced with "Vos", a reference to O&A contributor and comedian Rich Vos.
- Jeff Goldblum speaks Hebrew, Spanish, and Finnish fluently. He refuses to learn French because he "considers it to be too easy."
- Jeff Goldblum appears on The Simpsons season 7 DVD commentary for the episode in which he plays a Hollywood agent, A Fish Called Selma.
- He appears briefly in Annie Hall as an (unnamed) actor on the phone with his guru, and says: "I forgot my mantra!"
