Thanks for catching my double vote; I regret to observe that it's the second dv I've committed this week, but I'll certainly be more careful in the future... :) Joe 21:04, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Listed images for speedy deletion
Hello Srikeit,
Sorry about this, but I just listed two of your images for speedy deletion, namely Image:Dravid.jpg and Image:Irfan pathan.jpg. The licence terms you specified for them were not accurate. One was actually cc-by-nc and one was cc-by-nc-sa, both of which are non-free licences that we can't use. Creative Commons licences are confusing. You have to be very careful which one is which.
Of course, you could try and persuade the photographers to licence their work under a different licence, one that isn't for non-commercial use only, but you may not be successful.
Yours,
Stephen Turner (Talk) 13:38, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- You wrote: Hi Stephen, thanks for & correcting my error. I have myself deleted the images in question. Frankly, I still don't understand the problem with the images but I explicitly trust your judgement & am sure you must be correct. Just to be on the safe side, I'll just upload GFDL stuff from now on ;-) BTW how have you been?Good to see you & Jguk back. Bodes well the cricket project! Cheers! Srikeit 17:39, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your message, Srikeit. Basically, Misplaced Pages is not allowed to use images marked "for non-commercial use only", because we might want to be able to sell or licence our content later.
- Many CC licences are OK, and there's no reason to stop using them. Just make sure it's one of the licences on the permitted list not the forbidden list. The bad ones are the ones containing nc (non-commercial) or nd (no derivatives). And of course make sure that it has the right licence tag.
- To answer your other question, I'm fine, thank you. I took a month's wikibreak but I'm back now, although contributing a bit less than I did a few months ago.

Did you know? was updated. On 29 August, 2006, a fact from the article Art in Puerto Rico, which you recently nominated, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page. |

Did you see see the Harbhajan DYK yesterday evening? They offered him the job Deputy Superintendent of Punjab Police!!! We need to help Tintin with the Indian bios so that he can feel free to become an admin! Blnguyen | rant-line 05:43, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
- If you get round to it, could you withdraw the AfD on the person who broke the reocrd for memorising pi please? It is unanimously surviving, so better to delist it so we can use it for DYK. Thanks, Blnguyen | rant-line 01:29, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Hey
The Notorious B.L.N. told me a brilliantly funny story about you (I was laughing for a good *hour*, and am chuckling again :-D ). E-mail on the way to confirm -- Samir धर्म 10:26, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
RfA thanks
Thank you very much for participating in my RFA, which closed successfully today with a result of (62/18/3). I will go very carefully at first, trying to make sure I don't mess up too badly using the tools, and will begin by re-reading all the high-quality feedback I received during the process, not least from those who opposed me. Any further advice/guidance will be gratefully accepted. I hope I will live up to your trust! Guinnog 14:50, 30 August 2006 (UTC)} |
Ahmedabad Textile Industry's Research Association
On 1 September, 2006, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Ahmedabad Textile Industry's Research Association, which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page. |
- Very nice article and picture. Enjoyed the read. I have to visit Ahmedabad; I never have, but my dad lived in Ahmedabad for a while working on a "top secret" satellite project when he worked for ISRO in the late 1960's -- Samir धर्म 08:13, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- Hey. Great article. Got 2 shocks. One on seeing an Ahmedabad related article on DYK not created by me and the other shock was seeing that the article was created by you. I was telling Andy about this the other day. What do you think about a wikiproject for Ahmedabad/Gujarat? - Aksi_great (talk - review me) 16:54, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
spelling mistake
Hi Srikeit, spelling mistake in the first entry on T:DYK. Speciemen --> specimen -- Lost 18:56, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- Hey thanks for attributing that to me, but to be truthful, it wasnt me who noticed it. I merely copied it from WP:VPA to WPT:DYK (man I love these shortcuts:)).. When nobody corrected, I thought I'll tell u -- Lost 19:05, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- Hey, that's a cool longcut!! -- Lost 04:56, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

DYK archiving
Hi Srikeit, thanks for your efforts in keeping DYK updated. Just a minor request: when adding old items to the talk page archive, can you remember to include a link to the featured image after the fact text. (see current listings where I've added Ahmedabad Textile Industry's Research Association). When moved to the permanent archives the images are converted to be displayed. Thanks. --Cactus.man ✍ 11:19, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Long-Overdue RfA Thanks from Alphachimp
Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which was successful with a an overwhelmingly flattering and deeply humbling total of 138/2/2 (putting me #10 on the RfA WP:100). I guess infinite monkey theorem has been officially proven. Chimps really can get somewhere on Misplaced Pages.
With new buttons come great responsibility, and I'll try my best to live up to your expectations. If you need assistance with something, don't hesitate to swing by my talk page or email me (trust me, I do respond :)). The same goes for any complaints or comments in regard to my administrative actions. Remember, I'm here for you. (Thanks go to Blnguyen for the incredible photo to the right.) alphaChimp 05:39, 3 September 2006 (UTC) |
- Extreme primate indeed :). alphaChimp 05:39, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
subhash bose
I saw that you blocked Subhash bose for 3RR on Atal bihari vajpayee. I dont think he was wrong. May be you could reconsider his block. Please note that I am not defending his previous actions.nids(♂) 19:51, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- I am asking this for myself (I dodnt even violate 1RR except in rare cases). Does 3RR apply in cases of obvious vandalism. I have read the wiki policies, but this point is still not clear to me. nids(♂) 20:46, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- Subhash sometimes does get out of line, but one week is adventurous for reverting vandalism by Holywarrior. A summary of Holywarrior's first 6 edits is here, where he vandalized a section on Vajpayee and put unencyclopedic mumbo jumbo on the page. You may also want to look at the goings on of Holywarrior here.Bakaman Bakatalk 21:56, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
Winhunter's RfA thanks

An alien!
First Bhadani's a pimp (see my talk page), now I'm an alien? It's been a weird day! Hope all is well at school, sorry for scooping your DYK update. I've got my second Royal College exam next week (a massive three day event Sept 20-21-22) and have cancelled my patients for a week to study. The good part is that I get to go to my hometown (Ottawa) to write it! Woo hoo! When I wrote my first specialty exam in internal medicine 1.5 years ago, my old high school friends (from 12 years ago now, I'm so old!!!) and I ended up at the casino until 1 AM the night before the exam. Bad form. Still got high honours though. Cheers -- Samir धर्म 18:20, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Request
Someone has gone and made entries in Wiktionary for most of the words on Wiktionary:List of Hindi words all Wiktionaries should have, but it doesn't appear to be all correct or with the most common terms. I've been working on it with my dictionary, but do you mind taking a look at a section or two to check if they are correct and maybe add a couple missing ones? Thanks for all your help so far. फिर मिलेंगे. :) - Taxman 23:01, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
