Mortal Kombat: Devastation is the third installment in the movie franchise based on the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. Currently, the film's script is still being developed.
Possible storyline
According to Robin Shou, who starred as Liu Kang in the first two films, the most recent script is a prequel focusing on Sub-Zero as the protagonist, with none of the cast from the earlier films returning.
Older rumors claim that Devastation will bypass Annihilation completely, citing the second film's poor performance and reception.
Cast
Chris Casamassa is rumored to return as Scorpion, with Matthias Hues portraying Fujin and Adoni Maropis reprising his role of Quan Chi from Mortal Kombat: Conquest.
Other rumors cite the return of some of the first film's cast, such as Linden Ashby and Christopher Lambert as Johnny Cage and Raiden, respectively. Additional rumors claim that Sandra Hess, from Annihilation, will portray Sonya Blade, rather than Bridgette Wilson from the first film.
However, the film's cast has yet to be officially confirmed.
Crew
Currently, two different directors are rumored to be tied to the third Mortal Kombat film, mink and Christopher Morrison.
Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan are said to be developing the screenplay, and Lawrence Kasanoff will produce.
Like the cast, no crew member has been officially confirmed.
