You can help!). Sometimes I forget that I was copying and pasting something else, and sometimes, that accidentally carries over to my edit summary. Examples can be seen here: and . RFA questions

You have some unanswered questions on your RfA - perhaps you'd consider answering them before I vote. Thanks. --Mcginnly | Natter 20:33, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Just a quick note - I added another question just now (the first time I've used it but it's a key mistake I've seen several admins do lately). —Wknight94 (talk) 18:21, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
Okay, I've improved my question at your RFA. Sorry, I haven't yet perfected my pop quiz question... :( —Wknight94 (talk) 21:33, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
LOL, nice job, you got it! I've found three times lately where an admin has forgotten to check the history of articles marked for speedy and they missed that the article was vandalized and replaced with something ridiculous with a speedy tag. When the admin forgets to check the article history in a case like that and just deletes away, it's almost impossible to find since all hints of the article are removed from everyone's user contributions. All someone might notice is a red link in their watch list or a red link somewhere else. Finding other articles vandalized similarly by the vandal would be literally impossible since they didn't actually do the deletion. You'd need to look through the deletion logs of every admin. It's a real problem here. —Wknight94 (talk) 23:16, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Zune Ellen Degeneres portion deletion

Well, Nishkid, I deleted that portion of the Zune page because I felt that no page should have one-sentence portions. I simply put that sentence at the end of, but seperated from, the rest of the criticisms portion, because, from an aesthetic point of view, it seemed more fitting to show that, despite its criticisms, the Zune has still been able to enter pop culture. I'm sorry that you felt that I was wrong, but I still believe that I was right in deleting that portion.

                                                                        Sincerely,
                                                                           Anonymous
I wasn't referring to the Ellen DeGeneres section of the article. I was referring to the removal of {{citationneeded}}. You removed it from the article (maybe accidentally), and that's why I warned you. --Nishkid64 21:49, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Hey Nishkid, thank you for supporting my recent RfA. It finished with an amazing final tally of 160/4/1. I really appreciate your support. Cheers, Sarah Ewart (Talk) 22:09, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Zuen

Oh. Oops. That was an accident. Sorry. I'll try to fix that with an actual citation.

Zune

Nevermind. Could've sworn I'd seen an article criticizing the color...

RfA questions

Hi there, I've added some specifics for you to chew on regarding my question at RfA. If you'd like to give them some consideration, that would be great.--Mcginnly | Natter 23:41, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Hey Nish

How do you join Vandalproof? I can't stand vandals. Clay4president 00:43, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Hey Clay. Long time no see. Umm...you can request permission to gain access to VandalProof here. You qualify to use it, so just add your name to the list, and they'll give you clearance in a day or two (unless they are all busy or something). --Nishkid64 01:16, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks Nish. Clay4president 22:21, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Welcome?

I've been participating/contributing for 21 months, nearly 2 years, and doing my best. Suddenly now I get slapped with a newbie welcome page. I'm curious what I might have done that you disapproved of or that otherwise made you feel I was in need of instruction.

I gave it to you because no one had previously edited your talk page. I didn't know that you have been editing for such a long time, so don't take it personal or anything. I was just welcoming what I thought was a relatively new user. --Nishkid64 14:51, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Depose president of taiwan

Depose the president of taiwan should'nt be removed becuz he is corrupted — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.104.141.18 (talkcontribs)

I don't care if you think he is corrupt. You just don't add your own personal comments into articles even if you think they are right. --Nishkid64 23:40, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

The Halo's RfA

Nishkid64...
Thank you very much for the constructive criticism in your oppose comment in my request for adminship. Ultimately, no consensus was reached, and I failed to be promoted, but I am very grateful for your coments. I will strive to better myself in all areas, especially Mainspace.
Thε Halo

Hey there, thanks for the encouragement :) And, of course, all the best wishes with your own RfA (in fact, I don't think I've voted yet....) Thε Halo 20:10, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

That edit was for real.

It was just step one in expanding the Vanguard Bandits page. I've edited on Misplaced Pages before (mainly on the Pittsburgh Steelers page). I've played this game a ton of times, and I want to bring the article up to snuff.

Sorry, but it looked like vandalism to me. I'm not suggesting you revert back to your previous edit, but you should instead re-write your additions into a more "encyclopedic" form. Thanks! --Nishkid64 00:21, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

Portal:American football

Sure, first you steal my baseball portal and now American football!?! Just kidding; I was behind on updating the sections in any case, so good on ya. I may rework the article, image, and biography sections—I usually rewrite entirely the biography, article, and image text so as to summarize the articles the sections reference (which articles, then, I undertake to improve); I hope you'll not mind, but feel free, of course, to let me know if you do. Thanks for reminding me that Am fb needs some new DYK and quotations as well. If, btw, you want to take over "responsibility" for the baseball portal now, that'd be quite fine with me. I do, FWIW, try to add at least two items to the DYK and news sections that focus primarily on baseball outside the United States, lest the portal should become too America-centric (of course, MLB is the world's best and most prominent baseball league—and truly an international one—so I think it's quite fine for us to focus on the American majors). At the moment I am the only person who maintains the American football, basketball, chess, golf, tennis, ice hockey, and cycling portals, and I'm quite fine with that; I restrict much of my time to portal space but also along the way happen upon articles to which I may make improvements). If, though, you are interested in one or more of those (American football, for example), you should surely let me know (although you seem to have your hands full reviving quite successfully some moribund portals). No one, of course, owns a portal, but, as you seem to appreciate, most maintenance (news sections notwithstanding) really requires only one editor, and so I don't want us to duplicate our efforts. Drop me a line at your convenience... :) Joe 23:32, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Mr. Lefty's RfA thanks

Hi, Nishkid64, and thanks for supporting me in my recent request for adminship, which succeeded with a final tally of 70/4/4. I hope I can live up to your expectations, and if there's ever anything you need, you know where to find me! --Mr. Lefty Talk to me! 00:09, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

You mentioned on the proposed project page that you'd created a temporary tennis wikiproject page. You have a link for that? --Dantheox 06:34, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Your RFA

Yes, I noticed your apologies. I still voted oppose, and that stands. To post such a comment first time round is unacceptable IMO for an admin, no matter how many apologies you make later. Moreschi 20:37, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Congratulations

Though like the rest of us you're not perfect, those participating in your RfA have placed their trust in you to be an admin. Do your best to live up to that, as I'm sure you will. Use the new tools conservatively, especially at first, and re-read the relevant policies before taking action. It's better to warn politely than inflame things and don't block unless it's needed. If you get stressed, take a break before hitting save or block, etc. After you get the hang of it, dig in and help out with the backlogs. - Taxman 22:08, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Well done on your status change to admin - please ask if you have any questions regarding the use of the admin powers. Regards, (aeropagitica) 22:56, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Congrats! Remember that you are a very good editor, and now that you are a new admin, WP:BITE applies here too. Proceed with caution, ask questions if you are not sure on something. Usually getting more people involved will get answers in a better method. Enjoy your promotion! Later - JungleCat talk/contrib 23:50, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Congratulations! You will find my reply on your RfA comment on my talk page. Equendil Talk 23:58, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Congratulations! Well deserved! - Mike 00:51, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Congrats, Nishkid. Picaroon9288 01:31, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Congrats, do us proud! I know you will think about the criticisms in your Rfa, but don't let them break your spirit. I think you'll be a better admin for having to weather a storm or two early. It's a tough process and you did well. It's a tough job and you'll do great. Dina 02:08, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

More congratulations! It looked like a tough RfA from where I was standing, so I hope you've got through it more or less intact :) Enjoy the new tools responsibly! — riana_dzasta wreak havoc|damage report 02:45, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Congratulations

I am glad you are now an administrator, you seem like a good person, and definitly sutible for a job such as this.--Seadog.M.S 01:18, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Congrats, now get to work! (carefully of course) :) --Andeh 11:47, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Sorry

I'm sorry. I had posted the vandal before only a day ago, I figured the page would be remembered. I'm sorry for any inconvience it might have caused. Thank you.Ganfon 01:36, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Ummm

Do you just look for vandalism on Vandalproof or is there a special setting to detect vandalism? Clay4president 01:40, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

It's basically a live feed for recent changes on Misplaced Pages. You just click links and see vandalism. --Nishkid64 14:17, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Re: Longtail stingray

Sorry if I sound like a pest on my second day as admin, but I just wanted to remind you that you should check the article history before deleting a page. I noticed that you deleted Longtail stingray because it was a blank page, but when I went back to see the history of the article, I saw that someone blanked the article yesterday, and then Crzrussian tagged it for speedy deletion. I restored the page, though. You can see the log here. Thanks! --Nishkid64 19:51, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Now is the time to take a break from admin duties! Regards, (aeropagitica) 19:55, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Longtail stingray

Congrats to our newest sysop. Longtail stingray was deleted under G7, because it was blanked by its creator. Please redelete. - CrazyRussian talk/email 20:02, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Woops! My bad, Crzrussian. I really got to check my eyes. But actually...it shouldn't be deleted. It's a valid re-direct link, and I don't know why the creator blanked it. --Nishkid64 20:07, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
I've been working Special:Shortpages about as long as you've been a Wikipedian. I get through several dozen {{db-g7}} cases a week. Essentially, they're entitled to have it deleted if no-one else substantially contributed to it. It's part of our my Wiki philosophy. I certainly don't know enough about Stingrays to tell which name should redir to which species, and neither do you, I assume. We have CSD G7 for that very reason. Go ahead and restore it if you do the research and confirm the naming. Cheers. - CrazyRussian talk/email 20:11, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
