He showed some promise in his bowling with some pace and swing, he has impressed many in the IPL with his bowling figures, in his debut match of IPL 2013 he took 3 wickets for 32 runs against the Royal Challengers Banglore .

He grabbed eyeballs with his slingy action that has troubled many batsmen. Because of his variety in delivering the ball, Bumrah was handed an IPL contract by Mumbai Indians in 2013 even before he made his first-class debut .

Bumrah plays first-class cricket for Gujarat and he made his debut against Vidarbha cricket team during the 2013-14 season. He had a great game indeed, picking up 7 wickets in the match. Eventually, he ended the tournament as the side's leading wicket-taker.

While doing so, he became only the second bowler in the side to pick three wickets on debut.
