Why I just cut this article in half

As you may have noticed, I just took half of this article out. All of the content related to Moto2 and Moto3 is gone, and has instead been moved to a new home: a season article for Moto2 and a season article for Moto3.

The reason for this is that I feel the MotoGP pages have been a bit of a mess, with multiple complex tables, with an article ballooning out in size. The 2013 season article is currently 170,000 kB in length, which is entirely too long. The Manual of Style recommends that mages should "almost certainly" should be divided if they are over 100,000kB in length.

This is a system that is similar to that used by other motorsport championship pages. Formula 1 has its own season page, wth separate season pages for GP2 and GP3. The World Rally Championship has a season article for the WRC, WRC-2, WRC-3 and Junior WRC. And NASCAR has individual pages for each of its tiers.

Using this system also allows us to clean up the article. In its old form, the article would have ten individual tables: one for the calendar, an entry table for each category, a riders' points table for each category and a manufacturers' points category for each table. That's simply too many tables. Tables are visual aids to assist the reader - they're not meant to donimate articles like this. Four tables - calendar, entries, rider points and manufacturer points should be enough. We may also be able to include a summary table showing the pole-sitter, winning rider in the factory class, winning rider in the open class, and the winning manufacturers.

But perhaps most importantly in this case, FIM recognises the winner of each championship as an individual world champion. Maverick Vinales is not just the winner of the Moto3 category; he is the Moto3 World Champion. Likewise Pol Espagaro in Moto2. As each championship is recognised as an individual world title by the governing body, we should recognise them that way, too, with individual articles. Excelent work. Each competition should have it's own article.Rpo.castro (talk) 09:14, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
Disagree completely... The 100kb limit makes no sense. Too small. We dont use 56k modems anymore. motogp classes being divided makes no sense whatsoever and its annoying to switch pages. - Anonymous Misplaced Pages User.
I think it's not correct to stick the "Grand prix motorcycle racing" title to the MotoGP class article only. Even Moto2 and Moto3 articles are wrongly titled "2014 Moto2/3 Series season", without any reference to the world championship status (what means "Moto2/3 series"? National? European? and why "series" since it's an official world championship?). In my opinion they should be named something like "2014 MotoGP World Championship season", "2014 Moto2 World Championship season" etc. Scott DNA (talk) 15:46, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
