The State of Things is the second EP by the British rock band Turin Brakes and their first release for Source Records. It was released on 7" vinyl and CD. The songs on the EP were taken from the recording sessions for The Optimist LP. The title track, the only song from this EP to appear on the first album, therefore appears in the same version.

Track listing

  1. "The Boss" - released on reissue of the album Ether Song
  2. "Balham to Brooklyn"
  3. "All Away (Instrumental)"
  4. "State of Things" - released on the album The Optimist
