Gary Renard (born 1951) is the author of the books The Disappearance of the Universe (2004), Your Immortal Reality (2006), and Love Has Forgotten No One (2013), which books' stated purpose is to reawaken interest in and clarify the core principles of the 1976 spiritual text A Course In Miracles (ACIM).
Books
In The Disappearance of the Universe, Renard recounts, in dialogue and commentary, a series of 17 appearances by two ascended masters over the course of nine years, from 1992 until just after the World Trade Center disaster of 2001. The two ascended masters call themselves Pursah and Arten (not their real names), and were once two disciples of Jesus: Thomas and Thaddeus. Renard says the encounters with Arten and Pursah were his first introduction to A Course in Miracles (ACIM). The material in The Disappearance of the Universe and Renard's two subsequent books is consistent with the teachings of A Course in Miracles as taught by ACIM teacher Kenneth Wapnick, though it stirred some controversy within some more conservative parts of the ACIM community.
Renard's second book, Your Immortal Reality (2006), is a continuation of the first book with the same format and type of dialogue with the two masters that is found in The Disappearance of the Universe. Love Has Forgotten No One (2013) originally due in mid-2008, but delayed until October 2013 completed the trilogy. All three books were published by Hay House. Renard then said in his e-newsletter that he is currently working on a fourth book.
According to Renard, his three books were not channeled in the conventional sense of the word, since they derive from in-person appearances by the sources, but the core content is represented as the authorship of Arten and Pursah. Renard says he was told that Arten and Pursah would not appear to people other than him, because his teachers did not want their message to be changed by others.
Personal life
After his purported encounters with the ascended masters and being a musician, Renard focused as spokesperson and teacher in relation to A Course in Miracles. In 2007 Renard divorced his first wife, Karen Renard. In 2009 he remarried to musician and therapist, Cindy Lora-Renard. He moved from Maine to southern California. Renard currently travels and teaches in numerous worldwide locations, has a semi-regular podcast, and has hosted several ACIM-themed ship cruises. He has always wanted to move to Hawaii.
