AIDBot (yet again)

Hi Dijxtra, When WP:AID was moved to WP:ARCAID, AIDBot broke ("Checked for running processes. 1 processes currently running, including the current process. Getting page Misplaced Pages:Article Improvement Drive DBG> Misplaced Pages:Article Improvement Drive is redirect to Misplaced Pages:Article Creation and Improvement Drive The bot crashed."). Could you take a look into it and just change the page it processes? --Draicone 12:54, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. I wouldn't be too sure that just changing the page would do it actually; although I'm not sure how the bot works. If you're busy, I'm a C++/php/js developer so I could take a look at it and see what adjustments need to be made if you're happy to give me a copy of the source. The only issue is that WP:ARCAID may have a slightly different layout than WP:AID; I'm not sure how the bot would handle this. Don't worry about the bot though, I may just remove it from WP:AID/M. --Draicone 23:03, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Correct

If you are correct, inform user:Hurricane Angel about this deletion ! If Hurricane Angel will delete warning again, i will remove warning again in my talk page!--PIO 15:57, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Sure thing. I see you reverted him, and if he does that again, I will revert him personaly. --Dijxtra 16:34, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Report

I would like to report User Shannon Hyde and Arbiter for making rude and vulgar attacks on my discussion page. Thank you very much.

THE MILJAKINATOR 11:00, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

User:Asterion already warned him. If he attacks you again, report it to me again. --Dijxtra 11:09, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Islands

Hi there, it is good list you are making. The most obvious thing is that you need to sort out the references. (BTW, I'd like to see the source that counted 698 islands, 389 rocks and 78 reefs). In the lead I would explain more about the 66 islands with villages (formely inhabited islands?) Also, would add some history: how long people lived there, if some islands were deserted or re-inhabited. Other areas to think about is economy, political stuff, what role do those islands play in mainland Croatia, I suspect they have tourism indutry. Other thing is population density. I don't think you need 3 digits after the dot. One would do just fine. Also, I don't particularly like the color coded density. Just unneccessary. Also, add some pics. Island articles have bunches of them. Renata 13:21, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Yes, that's article stuff if you will write a long passage on it. But if you just mention couple sentences - it's perfect for lead. Also, I was just giving you ideas, I dunno what can you come up with. Renata 15:07, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Tonino "Dog Lover" Picula AKA "Why The Hell I Am The Mayor?"

User PlO

Hi Dijxtra, I believe I am one of the most mature editors on Misplaced Pages and find it a personal attack on myself that a child like PlO wants to brand my user talk with that garbage. He was being very useless on the Josip Broz Tito discussion, at which point I told him to "shutup". As a matter of fact, if you follow his "discussions" closely, they're pretty much just a bunch instigating sarcastic comments...

I think it's very obvious why he is trying so hard to keep that warning on my page, and I'm sure you'll agree. That is after all why he went straight to a Croatian Wikipedian administrator. Anyways, he is both a sock puppet and almost rarely contributes anything useful (among hiding large edits as minor edits).

I will remove his edit once again, because I will never take him seriously, nor let him troll my personal talk page. Sound fair?--Hurricane Angel 01:42, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Your list IS worthwhile despite some deletionsists' point of view

The list (List_of_cameo_appearances) you created is/was up for deletion. I want you to know there is a place for it: http://wikitistics.com . No one will be able to nominate it for deletion because it fits one simple rule: it's a statistic, list, or figure. Some people think these websites should encompass the same scope of a book- we don't. Good luck with your endeavors!Joe 03:01, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Hm, now, see, I don't really care what happens with that list. I didn't create it, I just removed the stuff from Cameo appearance to the new page: . I too don't think that's a usable list so I don't have anything against it being deleted... if you whish, feel free to move it to wikitistics.com. Thanks for the note, anyway. --Dijxtra 07:56, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Adam Ireton - Deleted

Hi Dijxtra, Can you please explain why the entry about Adam Ireton was deleted? Thanks, -- --Bobby Hurley III 09:31, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Because Adam doesn't seem to be notable. If you wish, I can undelete the article and send it to afd... --Dijxtra 16:25, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
Hi Dijxtra, That would be great. Please undelete and send the Adam Ireton article to AFD. --Bobby Hurley III 04:38, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
Done. --Dijxtra 20:47, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Cheers! --Bobby Hurley III 04:50, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Mystic Nation

Hi, I wasn't aware that being listed on AFD disqualifies an article from CSD. You removed the db-band tag before any objections to the speedy deletion were raised. Articles have been tagged and speedy deleted before while on AFD (for example this, this and this). Is there a policy against tagging articles for CSD while on AFD? Thanks. Molerat 19:15, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

No, there isn't. I just thought that since it is on AfD, I just might as well remove the tag. Since if the article deserves deleting, it will be deleted throught AfD. If you feel it really should be speedied, readd the tag, I won't remove it. --Dijxtra 20:10, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, I won't readd the tag as an editor has raised an objection to its speedy deletion on AFD. Molerat 20:47, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Panda vandal

Hi,

Look at the contributions of this guy. He is obsessed with pandas and writes stupid stories about pandas on many pages. Since he has permanent IP address, I suggest to give him one last warning and then to block him for one months, for a start. --Ante Perkovic 15:01, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

Done. I noticed him earlier, but forgot to warn him, thanks for reminding me. --Dijxtra 15:32, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
E moj Ante, kako je lepo imati velikog brata administratora kojem uvek možeš da se potužiš kad te neko dira. ccc :)))) PANONIAN (talk) 00:25, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Nije li to lijepo... Nije to shvatio samo Ante, nego recimo i Asterion kojemu je isto jasno cemu sluze administratori (, , , ). Ako imas neki problem cije rijesenje zahtjeva sysop ovlasti, vrlo rado cu ti pomoci.
:) PANONIAN (talk) 12:16, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Eh, eh, iznenadio si me, nisam ocekivao salu nakon sto si me optuzio da sam los administrator ;-) --Dijxtra 12:18, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Recimo da ti dajem šansu da se popraviš. Hehehe. PANONIAN (talk) 16:15, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Offensive

Would you consider "fucking Croats" written by User:Luka_Jacov at User_talk:PANONIAN highly offensive? --HolyRomanEmperor 13:56, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Hm. Let me put it this way. I consider "fucking Croats" written at User_talk:PANONIAN highly offensive, and I have already warned one user for this: . But, I don't see firm proof that Luka wrote that. --Dijxtra 14:08, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
It was not written by Luka, but by an anonymous user: http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=User_talk%3APANONIAN&diff=74296090&oldid=74025392 Luka just wrote his answer to me below this comment. PANONIAN (talk) 16:13, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Ugh, my bad. I'm sorry (I hope that Luka will be able to forgive). --HolyRomanEmperor 08:55, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing

Hi. Please respond on my talk page, using :'s under your previous comment. Anyway, in regards to the {{merge}} tag, now that you have expanded the article a bit, I don't mind it too much. It would be nice to see why it is considered notable: how many students go there; more famous/important alumni; etc. . I do, however, strongly object to its title. There are probably thousands of departments and faculties in various universities with exactly the same title. See UC Berkeley College of Engineering -- the title is very specific (and that's an article about a whole group of departments, none of which have their own article). Thanks for having discussed with me before removing the tag outright! --Storkk 13:26, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Also please note EECS --Storkk 13:27, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
For consistency in WP, I believe the University name comes before the faculty, which would make it something like University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing which is horribly long. It might be best if the University has some kind of 2 or 3 letter abbreviation that it actually uses (thus, "UC Berkeley ..." for sub-colleges, but "University of California at Berkeley" for the main page), something like "SuZ Faculty ..." or "UZ", whatever the school uses. I do feel quite strongly that Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing should not point to a faculty of the University of Zagreb, even if there are no conflicts yet. Thanks for your input, --Storkk 14:12, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
You may have a point with your Google search. I'll leave the title up to your discretion. If you leave it as it is, please have a disambiguation {{For}}-type tag that points to EECS or something similar. Since this discussion doesnt pertain to the merge tags anymore (but to naming), i'll remove them now. --Storkk 14:16, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Problem

E pa pošto si se ponudio da mi pomogneš ako imam neki problem onda da te pitam jel može šta da se uradi u vezi ovog bugarskog nacionaliste koji uklanja članke iz kategorije "History of the Republic of Macedonia": http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Ohrid_Literary_School&diff=75119402&oldid=75119306 PANONIAN (talk) 17:34, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Yeah but those are different entities, not simply histories. Plus you should know the issues relating the names of "Macedonia" and the "Republic of Macedonia". There's no region of France or region of Portugal whatsoever.   /FunkyFly.talk_  22:15, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Right right, thats why there are no categories of European countries in Roman Empire?   /FunkyFly.talk_  22:20, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Oh now you're just splitting hairs. Your argument does not hold.   /FunkyFly.talk_  22:27, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Precedents? Hardly a stanadard way of adding categories.   /FunkyFly.talk_  22:38, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
I don't agree we've got any precedent too. It's completely anachronistic to categorize it as "History of the Republic of Macedonia", even as "History of Macedonia" (the region), when it in fact didn't exist back then ("Macedonia" was a different region in Thrace in the Middle Ages). Also, we don't include the University of Constantinople in "History of Turkey" just because Constantinople/Istanbul is today part of that country, right? In brief, I don't find your arguments convincing. TodorBozhinov 11:17, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Hey man, are you still interested in a second opinion? Sorry but I was offline for much of yesterday. - FrancisTyers · 12:19, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Ideally, it should be an improvement to an existing article, such as expanding a stub, citing sources, etc.. In certain instances, I will approve a new historical article if it covers a major topic that is not yet covered on Misplaced Pages. Those shoudl be cleared with me first. Other than those exceptions, the focus is really on improving and sourcing existing articles. Danny 14:59, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Whoops

Sorry. I just simply forgot to remove the tag. Done. --Woohookitty 14:49, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

Vandal from permanent IP

Hi, pleaee look at these contributions. This idiot wes warned before and I think it deserves longer block. --Ante P.

He got a 4 day block... I'd say that's enough for now. If he continues to behave badly after this block expires, we'll do a longer block. --Dijxtra 15:15, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Boris is going crazy again

Hi,

Boris is out of control. He just moved Croatian War of Independence to War in the Republic of Serb Krajina.

You remember how close he was to be banned permanently? I believe it's the time to restart the proces. It's no miracle that he got banned indefinitely on serbian wiki.

Please, since you are an admin, do something about this. Thanks. --Ante Perkovic 00:12, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

P.S.

user:Marinko has even tried ti warn him, but he just deleted the warning. I see all this as pure disruption of wikipedia. This kid is not completely sane and I don't think we should baby-sit him here. --Ante Perkovic 06:29, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

RE: Backlog

I already clean out backlog. A few days ago I spent a solid hour deleting images (though that was fantastically boring and haven't touched it since), and I always nip into CAT:CSD when it's backlogged, because I think that's quite important. I'm more than happy to deal with requested moves, but it looks really complicated... -- Steel 10:32, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

I'll check that out later then. I guess I should start with the oldest request? -- Steel 11:14, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
I did check your contribs ;)
Anyway, moves were something I was planning to do anyway, but I got scared off when I looked at the page. -- Steel 11:20, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Re #Helping out with the backlog

Hi Dijxtra,
Thanks for the invite above – is it a subst:ed template...?  I'll continue my occasional WP:RM updating and intend to start closing and actioning old WP:CfDs, but I'm also wishing to spend more of my Misplaced Pages time adding content to the encyclopedia. Best wishes, David Kernow (talk) 22:02, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

No, it's not a template, it's a good old copy/paste...
...because if every of our 1000 admins spent just 1 minute a day clearing backlogs, we'd have no backlogs at all ;-)
Good point!  Thanks for your reply. Yours, David (talk) 01:08, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Thank you Dijxtra!

I would like to thank you for your continuing efforts to resolve the naming issue according to Misplaced Pages standards. Your useful comments and isights expressed in the surveys are much appreciated. I wish you happy editing. RedZebra 12:34, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

No problem, glad to help. I just hope nobody will call me a bloody nationalist because of this... :-) --Dijxtra 12:38, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
LOL. I shouldn't worry about it if I were you as your arguments are magisterial. Cheers. RedZebra 12:46, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Page move of The Second Coming (TV drama) to The Second Coming (TV serial)

Thanks for completing the page move per WP:RQM... can you move the Talk page too, please? It's also blocked by having an existing history. Best, --MCB 17:48, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Done. --Dijxtra 18:28, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
Thanks! --MCB 01:10, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

Gatineau move...

Why did you move it, there was no clear consensus... Please answer on my talk page --Deenoe 22:05, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Normally for Requested moves, I thought we wanted more clear consensus, which is more like 70-80%. --Deenoe 00:54, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Laughing Man on Yugoslav wars

Hi. I'm having trouble editing Yugoslav wars because of continuous disruptions from User:Laughing Man. He just reverts anything he doesn't fancy. I tried argumenting on the article's Talk page, leaving messages on his Talk page, rewriting reverted segments to try to fix whatever he may object to, but nothing seems to work. He won't say a word and just trollishly pushes his POV. I have let him have his way on minor things, but I put my foot down on listing sides of the ethnic conflict (the "mostly Serbs" part). I just hate to see bullying win. And it seems it's almost all he does on WP.

So... do you think you could help? --Hrvoje Šimić 16:21, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Forget it. He just apologized: User talk:Hrvoje Simic#Re: Yugoslav wars -- Hrvoje Šimić 18:02, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Ooops. Sorry. There, it should be good now. --Dijxtra 17:28, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

Deleted move request: Love, Shine a Light

Hi, Please tell me what you think was missing from my move request. The only topic on Talk:Love, Shine a Light is a discussion of the moves, so I felt to create a redundant section title would be pointless. AlmostReadytoFly 17:22, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

A place for the survey is missing. --Dijxtra 17:26, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
I felt it already had "any form that is reasonable for administrators to follow". I also feel it would have served more purpose to create the section with the template, if you felt it was needed. Never mind, I will repost using the template. AlmostReadytoFly 17:30, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

Afrika paprika and others...

...look what they did to Operation Storm. I was finally getting to admire how beautifully a NPOV article was being presented in-betweens of Serbian overextensions of their sufferings, demonizing of Croatia on one side and Croatian extreme patriotism, nationalism and religious zeal on the other (+neutral international community), but now the article's entirely broken, and User:Afrika paprika keeps deleting the fact tha Serbia commemorates the date to the killing and the exiled... Check out also Ivana Milicevic and the article's history when you've got free time. --HolyRomanEmperor 22:25, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

I see ChrisO already warned him. If he messes with Operation Storm once again warn him that he will be blocked if he does that again (please quote the diff so I can make sure I'm not blocking him for something you warned him before). If he does it after you warned him, I'll block him.
As for Ivana Miličević, can you sumarise the discussion? How many of them support Afrika Paprika? If he is the only one, then he's breaking the consensus, and I'll warn him, then warn him again, then block him. Now, is there a consensus around the nationality, or somebody else supports Afrika Paprika? --Dijxtra 22:42, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
How nice that you two are conspiring against me.
conspire  /kənˈspaɪər/
–verb (used without object)
to agree together, esp. secretly, to do something wrong, evil, or illegal
We are not agreeing to do something wrong, evil or illegal, esp. not secretly since we're doing it on my talk page. --Dijxtra 11:52, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
I'd say that talking about how you will report me and what actions will you take into measure on your talk page away from pages that are suited for such things are most definately conspiring. Afrika Paprika 13:19, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
And which pages are suited for such things? I think that talk page of an administrator is just about a perfect page to discuss such issues. --Dijxtra 14:13, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Didn't know that. I see it more fitting that if you have someone to report about something you do it on the very page where it must be done...not going to a mod and making agreements what you will do and how. Afrika Paprika 15:38, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Well, I obviously didn't watch Operation Storm and Ivana Miličević pages. And HRE wanted to report to me about what was going. Where do you go when you want to report something to an admin? On that admin's talk page. So HRE did that. Nothing conspirative there... --Dijxtra 16:11, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
You see HolyRomanEmperor cannot bear the fact I confronted him on his biased, fallacious and revisionist articles about Pagania, Zachlumia, Travunia and Dioclea that he now runs around and spies on me so he can remove me.
This is a personal attack. You can get blocked for saying things like that. --Dijxtra 11:52, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
What about his personal attacks? You don't mind those? Afrika Paprika 13:20, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Feel free to report those to me, and I'll mind about them. --Dijxtra 14:13, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
I do not want to report it. That is the difference between him and me. I will not report him because he named me an 'Internet Troll' in heat of the discussion. Afrika Paprika 15:38, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Fine by me. He has a right to report you. You have a right to report him. But, if you do not want to do something, don't stop others from doing that. --Dijxtra 16:11, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
The Operation Storm artcle is an article of disputable accuarcy as it claims ridiculous things: 1. That there was an 'ethnic cleansng' referring to the article which says nothing of the sort and 2. constant mention of the supposed "Krajina region" and "Krajina Serbs". The first is incorrect due to fact Serbs left because their army and their leaders told them so and this is confirmed fact...there are document to confirm it. And the second is wrong because no such region exists in Croatia nor has ever existed and every mention of "Krajina" is actually greater Serbian extremism.

That is a severe offense. If you do that again when ChrisO's block expires, I'll block you again for removing content from Misplaced Pages. If some piece of information is sourced out leave it alone or you will be blocked. If some piece of information is not sourced out and you think that it is false, do not remove it but put {{fact}} right next to it. If you continue removing information from Misplaced Pages, you will be blocked.
Misplaced Pages has rules. Follow them if you want to edit Misplaced Pages. --Dijxtra 11:52, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Your threats are ridiculous and do not have any effect on me. It is not relevant what I think indeed...it is relevant that the article is biased and that the very sources provided there do not support the enforced thesis. This article is anything but NPOV. Afrika Paprika 13:22, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Those are not threaths, those are warnings. When an administrator talks like that to you, then those are called warnings. --Dijxtra 14:13, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
As for Ivana Milicevic we have a source which says she is Croatian actress and she claims it herself...she mentions nothing even close to supposed 'Bosnian' which is mind you territorial designation and we already have her birthplace up there so anyone can conlude that for themselves.
Good. So she is born in Bosnia. And she is of Croatian descent. Therefore, both "Croatian" and "Bosnian actress of Croatian descent" are verifable. In cases like that, when both pieces of information are verifable, you are supposed to abide to WP:CONSENSUS. It seems like you were the only one supporting "Croatian", and many editors supported "Bosnian actress of Croatian descent". Therefore, you are not allowed to revert. If you continue to break consensus after your block expires, you will be blocked. --Dijxtra 11:52, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
She is not "of Croatian descent" but IS CROATIAN.
And, how does the fact that she is Croatian refrain her from being of Croatian descent? --Dijxtra 14:13, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Let me give you and example: American of Croatian descent, German of Croatian descent, etc. Don't you agree that this is very much different than actually being Croatian which she is? I would say so. I tried to be a more forthcoming and made it more neutral but they deleted it....HRE included. I would be satisfied if it stood Bosnian-born Croatian actress or something similar...but 'of Croatian descent' just isn't right. By such construct you imply that in Bosnia there lives the supposed nation of Bosnian which is not. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a state of three ethnic communities: Croats, Serbs and Bosniaks. She is a Croat. Afrika Paprika 15:41, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Are you saying that Croats who live in Croatia are not of Croatian descent? Well, of which descent are they then if not of Croatian? --Dijxtra 16:11, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
There is not one source which refers to her as 'Bosnian actress'.
Sure there isn't: , , , , , , . --Dijxtra 14:13, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
There is a source which confirms her as 'Croatian actress'. Please see your remarks above about verifiability. Also if you look at the talk page you will see that most if not all people support my view. Again your 'threats' are ridiculous. Afrika Paprika 13:23, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
I also never stated that "Bosnians do not exist" as HRE accused me of...not here though but on DragonFly page (I think). The original article said she is "American-Bosnian" actress of Croatian descent. It was not me who changed it into "American of Croatian descent", "Croatian actress" or "of Croatian descent". I was only there to point some facts but constant editing by memebers who at the end of their reply on talk page write "Allahu Akbar" and refuse to refer to facts made me took more active role there.
And, the guy who refused to refer to facts and just went around issuing takbirs is now blocked because he refused to follow Misplaced Pages rules. Learn from that. --Dijxtra 11:52, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
I do follow Misplaced Pages rules so your implying that I do not is hillarious. What I do not know so well is how to bend the rules and manipulate them like a true master that HRE is - manipulating and twisting Misplaced Pages rules like he does. Afrika Paprika 13:26, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
I say you don't obey the rules. ChrisO says you don't obey the rules. And, we are administrators because we know the rules. Just keep knocking your head against the wall if you wish, but I advise you to read the rules and stick to it if you wish to edit Misplaced Pages. --Dijxtra 14:13, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
What about HRE's constant breaking of the rules? Isn't it strange that I am breaking the rules(which I am not saying I don't) but he doesn't? If I was breaking 3RR rule so did he yet the admnistrator who blocked me says he doesn't thought the history page is clear as day. Is that how administrators work here? Taking sides? Afrika Paprika 15:45, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Don't ask me, you are wrong for that. You don't want to report him. report him and he will be dealt with. --Dijxtra 16:11, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
I would also like to refer to mention Pagania, Zahumlje and the rest of the medieval southern Dalmatian principalities. You see HRE is pushing only one-sided articles and Serbian propaganda here. I am not saying that is his style because I've seen him being neutral in other articles but he does show tendency for fallacy and revisionism especially in articles referred here. These principalities could not be claimed as Serbian, Croatian or Zimbabwean...only as Paganian, Zachlumian, etc. Why? Because the sources are contraditicing. It would be like claiming Wendic/Polabian principalities were Polish or Czech. His constant reference and pushing of the DAI version, which mind you is based on the contraditcing article to itself in fact, is just plain wrong and he has shown no reason or will to compromise. Read his-enforced article and read my and judge for yourself which one is more NPOV. Afrika Paprika 00:18, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
I will take your remarks into consideration when you start abiding to Misplaced Pages rules. (BTW, yes, I know that HRE is sometimes hard to work with, but I don't have intention to help you combat him before you fix your ill behaviour) --Dijxtra 11:52, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
But you have intention to help him combat me. How interesting.
Yes, I do. I have every intention to help anybody combat people who break Misplaced Pages rules. You still haven't providet any evidence of him breaking any rule. He has provided such evidence for you. That's how things work. --Dijxtra 14:13, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
I didn't report him, not provided the evidence. The evidence is there for everyone to see. He is breaking the NPOV policy of wikipedia, has broke the citing and 3RR rules...yet only I am blocked and he is not. How can anyone justify his enforcment of the supposed "Serbian character" of Southern Dalmatian princiapalities when these lacked such denominations? The only which can be associated with Serbia and Croatia(for comparison) are Rascia(Serbian) and Croatian medieval state. All other in early-medieval period: Ragusan Republic, Doclea, Zachlumia, Pagania, etc. were simply Slavic princiapalities. If there weren't various imperialistic intrusions in South Slavic area we would most likely today have one unified South Slavic state....not like Yugoslavia mind you but something far more similar to Spain or Italy or Germany. As a historian I cannot allow such things to happen even if it means acting as a total idiot and breaking the rules. Afrika Paprika 15:49, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
I don't know, I'm not a historian. If he is breaking NPOV, then cite the sources that state NPOV. If he removes the sources, then contact me and I'll warn him. If he broke 3RR, report him here. --Dijxtra 16:11, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
I never asked you help...I ask that you act neutral and rebuff his ridiculous claim. Although I realize that is most futile call on my behalf because it is clear you are biased towards him and that you two know each other. I knew before that Misplaced Pages is ridiculous but now I know it for sure. Afrika Paprika 13:27, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
If you find Misplaced Pages ridicolous, then feel free to leave. --Dijxtra 14:13, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
I will not leave and I will not give up on reverting his revisions. Be sure of that. Afrika Paprika 15:50, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
I am not conspiring - you encouraged me on User_talk:Afrika paprika to freely report you to anyone I want and that you won't care. Operation Storm: 1. "Ethnic cleansing" occured; any overexension how the Croat nation, the state of Croatia and/or the wholesome government of Croatia has unitedly and generally organised ethnic cleansing of Serbs of Croatia is plain nonsence - however, ethnic cleansing of Serbs - even on a small scale - did occur, as it occured in almost every other part of Yugoslavia during the wars. 2. "Krajina" is a geo-historical region of Croatia and the "Krajina Serbs" are the Serbs that inhabit it. However, none of these is the subject - this diff of yours is. There, what you conducted is a biggo bad faith removal - a. k. a. vandalism as per Misplaced Pages:Vandalism. I generally agree that Pagania is a bit one-sided written - however, I can't make any progress with Afrika.
Yes I did and as you can see you reporting me will not have any effect on my zeal or ability to edit articles. As for Operation storm you have not one valid and neutral NPOV article which will confirm that the supposed "ethnic cleansing" occured. What you do have is a document from Serbian terrorists leadership which says explicitly that all paramilitary forces AND POPULATION must withdraw. So they left. If there was an "ethnic cleansing" the Serbian leadership is to blame not Croatia nor the 'Operation Storm. And second there is no such thing as "Krajina region", there never was. Show me one valid historical of such entity existing...just one. You will not find it. And what progress are you talking about? I called upon you to reach the agreement, a consensus. Panonian made a perfect comporomise and then you came again and start enforcing the one-sided version which you know openly admit. Afrika Paprika 13:32, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Regarding Ivana Milicevic - I don't think that anyone supports him. Mainly, he kept replacing "Bosnian actress of Croatian descent" (my suggestion was "Bosnian Croat") with "Croatian actress". Even User:Ante Perkovic made a rather interesting note on his talk page regarding this, stating how he was finally proud that there were little or almost no Croat vandals and internet trolls when compared to Serbian ones - and Afrika harshly refused all his suggestions.
You think wrong. Refer to talk page and see for yourself that couple of persons already expressed sympathy and agrees with my stanpoint. Yours? No one. We have a source which explicitly states she is 'Croatian actress'. We have none stating she is 'Bosnian actress'. And Ante Perkovic's comments which have nothing to do with the facts are irrelevant, he made no suggestions...he tried to enforce invalid version just like you and bunch of other "Allahu Akbar trolls". Afrika Paprika 13:33, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
I'm sorry to troubly you now - but I hope that you can make up the differences between Afrika paprika and the rest of us (especially me). --HolyRomanEmperor 11:29, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
By your constant whining to others and reporting me for minor breach of rules that will be hard to achieve. Afrika Paprika 13:35, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Yes, if Ante and you reached an agreement, then it must be a hell of a consensus :-) Therefore, I'm reverting to Ante's version. --Dijxtra 11:52, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
He opened a sockpuppet - User:Zrinski (almost 100% sure) as a "reinforcement" in the edit wars. --HolyRomanEmperor 11:54, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
What about your "friends" (read socketpuppets)? Laughing Man? Bunch of other undesignated IPs? All those supported YOU? As I said you are good with manipulating the rules... Afrika Paprika 13:37, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Refer to WP:RFCU ASAP. I will post a warning on his talk page and revert him. If he does something like that again, I will block him for 24 hours. You inform me of how RFCU ended, if he is confirmed I'll indefblock him. --Dijxtra 12:00, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Croats

I have a question. The Croatian World Congress states that there are 4.5 million Croats outside Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina (making altogether 9,000,000 million Croats in the world. Although this fulfills the WP:CITE rule, I still think this a little unimaginable. A similiar thing with the 12,000,000/11,000,000 figure for Serbs. Is it OK to put the notice like that (because the Serbian Unity Congress has been valued as insuficient for the Serbs article - the claim of 300,000 Chicago Serbs). --HolyRomanEmperor 13:50, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Dunno, ask at Talk:Croats and try to reach a consensus about if that link is WP:RS. I myself don't know anything about the reliability of the site... --Dijxtra 13:53, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Ah you mean "a consensus" like you reached at Ivana Miliceic page where the source is clearly disregarded? How do you even have the nerve to call yourself upon the rules of Misplaced Pages when you two are blatantly breaking them as it suits you.... Afrika Paprika 12:02, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
If you think that I'm breaking rules of Misplaced Pages, feel free to report me anywhere. In the meantime, do something useful. List of inhabited islands of Croatia still has 6 redlinks. Feel free to make them blue. --Dijxtra 14:17, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
...Nah - it obeys WP:CITE and I don't really have arguement on that. However, this has now given free hands to the (in)famous inflations on Serbs. :)
P. S. - here's Afrika paprika as an anon. --HolyRomanEmperor 14:08, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I warned him on his talk page and sprotected the article he vandalises. I don't want to block him so he can have his say. --Dijxtra 14:17, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Look at the history of your talk page. He officially admitted that he () is Afrika paprika. Editing while your account is banned is not allowed - it's almost as if sockpuppetry. I think this qualifies for a block of the IP. --HolyRomanEmperor 14:18, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I know it's obvious, but he is a ADSL user, and blocking him won't do any good. He just has to reconnect to change his IP, and then somebody else could accidentaly be autoblocked (me, for instance, since we use the same ADLS provider :-) ) as a sideeffect. --Dijxtra 14:22, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

The Sad News incident

Good that you reminded me - speak of the devil, a similiar thing happened to me a little earlier, if memory serves me well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HolyRomanEmperor (talkcontribs)

You still don't trust me? --HolyRomanEmperor 16:15, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Nope. --Dijxtra 16:17, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Any way I can influence to change that opinion? --HolyRomanEmperor 16:34, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Hmmm... not quite. The whole thing just smells fishy and I don't know what would make me get rid of the smell :-) But, hey, you can't say you suffer because I don't belive you, can you? I really treat you as any other user. At least I give my best. --Dijxtra 16:48, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
You're right over there - that actually comes as a shock - thanks anyway! I think that time will tell you (when you get to know me better) - I've also decided to tell a little more about myself, so that no occasion of "proving" starts to get troublesome. --HolyRomanEmperor 16:56, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Oh - and I checked out some of those islands - and made Zverinac. --HolyRomanEmperor 17:42, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Ivana

I didn't realize it until I had already started to edit the article. But I don't think there is anything objectionable in my edits; it still says she is born in Bosnia and is an ethnic Croat, which seems be the major contention.--Cúchullain /c 07:49, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Afrika paprika

Afrika paprika said "Greater Serb shit" on Talk:Pagania. My original idea was to continue the discussion after his block expires - but now I'm starting to think that that's impossible. --HolyRomanEmperor 15:10, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Whatever. It's not impossible to talk with anybody. It's just questionable if you think it's worth it. BTW, he broke the WP:CIVIL before the block, so no sence in reporting it now. --Dijxtra 16:06, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
OK - I just see a high potential in Afrika; I think that if he could read a little of Misplaced Pages's policies and change a little his attitude - he could become a productive member of the society. Actually, he broke WP:CIVIL after the block. However, as it's unlikely that I am able to influence him - I ask you. --HolyRomanEmperor 17:35, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

I didn't even notice that. I think that he voted while I was saving the old version, before his vote. Nothing intentional. --HolyRomanEmperor 18:37, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

History Delete

Hi I would like to delete some posts that had my IP number showing...even if deleted in discussion the Ip is still on History section. Any way of protecting my privacy and deleting where my ip is on history.

Not big deal...i don't need to hide the ip number but others hide theirs so maybe i should too ...just thought it would be good for privacy.

Can you name a example in which somebody hid his IP?

If i give you the number can you delete it from the site?

No, things just don't work that way. If you look at the bottom of this page, you will see that Misplaced Pages is licenced under GNU Free Documentation License. And, if you read the licence, you'll figure out that the edits you made to Misplaced Pages are not yours. When you clisked the "Save page" button, you agreed to the sentence which you can find just above the button: "You agree to license your contributions under the GFDL." And, by agreeing to the licence, you have revoked your right to delete your edit. I'm very sorry, but you just can have your edits deleted. --Dijxtra 08:30, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

I have changed my preferences to try out Croatian & Serbian iekav - and noticed a rather odd thingy. While it translates all buttons, it leaves my preferences in the upper-right in English. Could we do something 'bout it? --PaxEquilibrium 00:28, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Mirko Norac

Thanks for your interest in your role played with the Mirko Norac article. I was in the process of reading the Afd about it and was in the middle of leaving a reply that I thought it should be kept but edited, made neutral or etc in the case that it wasn't neutral. Right as I tried to leave my reply I saw that Adam Bishop had deleted it I think on the grounds for being bad faith. I hope you don't mind but I undeleted the article and did my best to edit it and make it neutral

Personally, I'd had no knowledge of Mirko Norac and am neutral as far as to whatever his or his followers or dejectors have to say about him. But in all due respect I hate seeing one's ideas censored. I think we should encourage others to make Misplaced Pages the best we can. If what I've submitted is neutral, I hope that not anyone else reverts it to an unneutral article.

Thanks again and feel free to check out my work on the public access television article where I make numerous contributions. DavidWJohnson 18:13, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Re: Where to request help from WP:MILHIST members?

Hi,

Re: list

It's pretty good. I'd suggest you convert all those external links in the table to footnotes. Additionally, for all the external links you should fill as many parameters as you can of the {{cite web}} template. You could also have a look at User:Rune.welsh/FLC for other things I tend to look at during an FLC nom. Regards -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ 15:21, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

That's not really an issue. We have some lists with pretty large reference sections (e.g. List of vegetable oils) It is possible to use a "div" tag to reduce the size of the section to 75% or so as well. -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ 15:29, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Yes

Lost it - but no matter. It looks like its in good hands (no imposter, impersonator or such). It just didn't seem righteous to occupy a username just because I wore it once upon a time. I hope you're not angry. --PaxEquilibrium 20:28, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Sorry - I wasn't aware that this was a policy of Misplaced Pages. My apologees. I think that it was CrnaGora - but I could be wrong. Note HRE about this. --PaxEquilibrium 20:43, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Glad to see you're working on fixing some bad edits on articles to do with Croats and Croatia.

Keep up the good work.

So long and GOOD LUCK.

Thanks for good wishes. --Dijxtra 08:22, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

--Dijxtra 08:22, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Had Enough

Thanks for the reply. Regarding the comment:

Thank you for your kind words, but I think I've had enough. I see that people here just lack a prospective. For instance, this edit comment: remove second sentence from intro: someone had to be the youngest col., and the "duke" thing appears to be of minimal importance

Excatly! I'm glad you picked up on that. That night or the next day I realized I'd wanted to point that out. That pretty much sums it up don't you think? Not important because "somebody" had to be the youngest col., and the fact that he became a duke to be of "minimal" importance? That's like an American saying that fact that John F. Kennedy being the youngest president isn't important because somebody had to be the youngest president. Or, like saying that an American receiving the presidential medal of recogination, which I think is the highest honor an American can receive, to be of minimal importance. Any children's text book with an article on these people would point out this.

So it's with extreme pity on behalf of my fellow Americans that I in-part agree with your conclusions. One, it's not so much you that was wrong but them. Two, I agree with your Croatian sentiments and think an objective article about Mirko Norac is deserving there. Three, I wouldn't delete the American article completely even though you were the creator of it. Like I said someday it could be respected, but then again it could just as easily be erased today. I would separate yourself from it and claim dishonor ship of it indefinitely but not definitely until a better time would present itself. Therefore, I think your choice to leave the original article note at the top of the discussion page was good.

Please don't become jaded, resentful, or unloving towards all things considering this learning experience. It's not simply an American fallacy but a fallacy of all mankind. All we can do is love our neighbor as ourself. Please keep me informed of your work. Your brother in Christ, DavidWJohnson 19:07, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Alto Adige / South Tyrol mess

I wonder whether you could give me your views on the ongoing problem with these articles. I'm not actually talking about contents or denominations, but the level of disruptions these are experiencing. It's not just copy and paste page moves. There are other things going on too: Personal attacks on an involved admin, lack of good faith and possibly sockpuppets (I find hard to believe someone's first edit would be a "vote" on a RM survey). If you can, please have a look at Talk:Province of Bolzano (Bozen), Talk:Communes of South Tyrol and Misplaced Pages:Administrators'_noticeboard#copy.2Bpaste_of_three_articles. I've been "asked" by one of the sides to mediate on this but I suspect foul play going on. Personally, I've no strong opinion on this and was happy to respect the small consensus that was reached last time. I'm getting this Kosovo feeling all over :( Asterion 20:42, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Just a quick question, since I can't find "demografics" section in South Tyrol article: what's that with German language? Are Austrians majority, large minority or did Austirans own the province from forever and lost it recently to Italy? What is the case here? I just ask for some insight because this is all quite new for me. --Dijxtra 20:58, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
