On 29 September 2017, a stampede broke out at Elphinstone railway station in Mumbai, India. At least 22 people were killed and 39 injured in the stampede. The incident took place around 10.30 am during rush hour near a ticket window between the Parel railway station and Elphinstone railway station.

Piyush Goyal, the Minister of Railways (India)announced compensation of ₹10 lac for the victims.
