This non-free media file should be replaced with a smaller version to comply with Misplaced Pages's non-free content policy and United States copyright law. According to Misplaced Pages's policy for non-free content, the amount of copyrighted work used under fair use should be as little as possible. In particular, non-free media on Misplaced Pages should not be usable as substitutes for the original work. A high-resolution non-free image is questionable fair use and may be deleted per Misplaced Pages's copyright policy.

In most cases, this reduction will occur automatically: simply wait a while and a bot will resize the image file according to the guideline at WP:IMAGERES. When an automatic reduction does not occur or a manual reduction is desired, the size of an image may be reduced in an image editing program or by saving and re-uploading a suitably sized thumbnail.

Once a reduced version of this file has been uploaded: Please replace this template with {{subst:orphaned non-free revisions}} (through source edit) or {{orphaned non-free revisions|date=28 December 2024}} (through VisualEditor or Twinkle).Fair usetrue

A screenshot from the music video for the Pink single "Stupid Girls" (2006). Image copyright is owned by LaFace Records.

CopyrightedThis image is a screenshot from a copyrighted music video or promotional video for a music artist, and the copyright for it is most likely held by the producers of the video and possibly also by the music artist. It is believed that the use of a limited number of low-resolution screenshots
  • for identification and critical commentary on the music video in question
  • where no free equivalent is available or could be created that would adequately give the same information,
  • on the English-language Misplaced Pages, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation,
qualifies as fair use under the copyright law of the United States. Any other uses of this image, on Misplaced Pages or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Misplaced Pages:Non-free content for more information.
AttentionTo the uploader:
  1. Please add a detailed non-free use rationale for each article the image is used in, which must also declare compliance with the other parts of the non-free content criteria, as well as the source of the work and copyright information.
  2. For example non-free use rationales, see Misplaced Pages:Use rationale examples.
  3. This tag should only be used for music video screenshots. Do not use it for other purposes.
To patrollers and administrators: If this image has an appropriate rationale please append |image has rationale=yes as a parameter to the license template.

Rationale of fair use for Stupid Girls

The image Stupid girls.jpg is being linked here; though the picture is originally copyright, I (Extraordinary Machine 23:01, 1 January 2007 (UTC)) feel it is covered by fair use because:

  1. The image is a screenshot from a promotional music video originally created by LaFace Records, and intended for wide distribution.
  2. The image is of lower resolution than the original screenshot (copies made from it will be of inferior quality).
  3. The image does not limit the copyright owners' rights to distribute the single or music video in any way.
  4. For an article containing discussions of a music video, a screenshot is arguably the most important image that could be included. This is a screenshot from the video, intended by LaFace Records for wide distribution. As such, it has future historical significance, and is a more appropriate choice than any other image available.
  5. Its inclusion in the article is important because it suggests something of the video's style.
  6. The image is being used for informational purposes only, and its use is not believed to detract from the original single or music video in any way.
