Revision as of 18:05, 11 November 2017
This non-free media file should be replaced with a smaller version to comply with Misplaced Pages's non-free content policy and United States copyright law. According to Misplaced Pages's policy for non-free content, the amount of copyrighted work used under fair use should be as little as possible. In particular, non-free media on Misplaced Pages should not be usable as substitutes for the original work. A high-resolution non-free image is questionable fair use and may be deleted per Misplaced Pages's copyright policy.
In most cases, this reduction will occur automatically: simply wait a while and a bot will resize the image file according to the guideline at WP:IMAGERES. When an automatic reduction does not occur or a manual reduction is desired, the size of an image may be reduced in an image editing program or by saving and re-uploading a suitably sized thumbnail. Once a reduced version of this file has been uploaded: Please replace this template with {{subst:orphaned non-free revisions}} (through source edit) or {{orphaned non-free revisions|date=26 December 2024}} (through VisualEditor or Twinkle).Fair usetrue |
Summary
Description |
This is a poster for The Road to Guantánamo. |
---|---|
Source | |
Article | |
Portion used |
The entire poster: because the image is poster art, a form of product packaging or service marketing, the entire image is needed to identify the product or service, properly convey the meaning and branding intended, and avoid tarnishing or misrepresenting the image. |
Low resolution? |
The copy is of sufficient resolution for commentary and identification but lower resolution than the original poster. Copies made from it will be of inferior quality, unsuitable as counterfeit artwork, pirate versions or for uses that would compete with the commercial purpose of the original artwork. |
Purpose of use |
Main infobox. The image is used for identification in the context of critical commentary of the work, product or service for which it serves as poster art. It makes a significant contribution to the user's understanding of the article, which could not practically be conveyed by words alone. The image is placed in the infobox at the top of the article discussing the work, to show the primary visual image associated with the work, and to help the user quickly identify the work, product or service and know they have found what they are looking for. Use for this purpose does not compete with the purposes of the original artwork, namely the creator providing graphic design services, and in turn the marketing of the promoted item. |
Replaceable? |
As film poster art, the image is not replaceable by free content; any other image that shows the same artwork or poster would also be copyrighted, and any version that is not true to the original would be inadequate for identification or commentary. |
Other information |
Use of the poster art in the article complies with Misplaced Pages non-free content policy and fair use under United States copyright law as described above. |
Fair useFair use of copyrighted material in the context of The Road to Guantanamo//en.wikipedia.org/File:Road_to_guantanamo_rejected_poster.jpgtrue |
