Frank Ellis
Your move of Prof Frank Ellis to Frank Ellis has resulted in there now being links to Frank Ellis for three other different Frank Ellis' including five links to Canadian Politicians, one to a different academic from British National Party and one to an actor from Two Tars. What do you suggest we do? Maybe another move to Frank Ellis (Radiologist)? --Bduke 01:08, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- You are right. I moved it to Frank Ellis (radiologist). Frank Ellis is now a redirect. When the other Frank Ellises can be identified, it can be made a dab page. Tupsharru 13:55, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- Good. I've made Frank Ellis a disamb page as there were far more articles linking to other Frank Ellis's than to the radiologist. The Canadian Politician might get an article at some point. I have also fixed the real links to the radiologist. --Bduke 23:29, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
33863 Elfriederwin & others
They were all copied from here and I deleted them as copyvio. It had nothing to do with him possibly being the same person. As an example he also copied the 56561 Jaimenomen from the same page. Deleting them as speedy allows someone to recreate the article as a non-copyright version, which to me seems a better idea than blanking, and putting a copyright notice on it so that it can sit for several weeks until someone can get around to reviewing them. In that case nobody can create the article until it's been reviewed. I see that he recreated the 33863 Elfriederwin in a non-copyright version and there would be no reason to delete it. If it ends up at Category:Candidates for speedy deletion I would remove the tag as I do take the time to review articles before I delete them. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 13:19, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- You may be right about the bite. However, he was warned by Yanksox and then instead of stopping for a few minutes and reading the link provided or asking a question, he continued on posting (and reposting) the copyrighted material. I did not know that he worked for Starkenburg-Sternwarte e.V. as the main page is in German. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 08:44, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
- How's that look. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 10:36, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
- No problem. I hope he comes back. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 10:52, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Is there any standard literature on Sweden in the English language?
Hi Tups. In regard to the comment above -- You definitely deserve a barn star for all your long-time contributions!
Ok, I want to inquire if you know of any standard literature on Sweden in the English language? I feel crippled by only being able to use Swedish language material that others can't check. So I'm now checking if you can recommend any kind of material in the English language? The CIA World Factbook was heavily used by our dear Mic, and he used the Brittish Enc. 1911 for older texts, and they make for good foundations of articles, but as the standards have risen these two sources both have their flaws. Any ideas of other sources?
In particular, I'd need English language sources for Sweden, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Emanuel Swedenborg.
/ Fred-Chess 17:36, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
There's been some historical writing in English about Sweden in the 16th-18th centuries, both directed to professional historians and to a more general public. Michael Roberts and Ragnhild Hatton on the Age of Greatness (Hatton's book on Charles XII was translated into Swedish as well) and I'm sure some of Peter Englund's work has been put into English. For Swedenborg, check out the Swedenborg Society (I think they're still based in London, and by now they should have a website), for Linnaeus, the Linnaean Society, also London. The British Library in general is a good place to start for somebody in England.
I'm sure there must be some material on the Nobel family in Russia, since that's where they made their fortune, and branches of the family and business stayed in St Petersburg up to 1917; it would be great if we could link up with somebody at the Russian Misplaced Pages and have an raticle about them in time for Nobel Day, December 10. What's wrong with these people?
Now I really feel impelled to write a few FAs directly for sv.wiki, what a friendly place. THREE people jump all over me for trying to help my mum become a contributor! I get reverted in one minute flat and told "I don't make the rules"... although when I demur, the "rule" quickly dissolves... and does any of them have any notion of restoring the link, or telling me I can? And will my mum ever be able to find the user page she created? Nah. Er, do you go there often? Bishonen | talk 18:23, 25 June 2006 (UTC).
- The other user should have kept away from your obvious good-faith edit, but you should probably have made an edit summary. In any case, I reverted to your version. No, I don't go there very often. The Swedish Misplaced Pages has the odd good article, but for the most part it is a rather dull place. Tupsharru 19:20, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. That's OK about the edit summary and the shoulding, I'm fully clued in and told off, as three people have already kindly mentioned it. (My mum is old, I was in a hurry to place the link while I still had her on the phone.) But I expect it was all code for "How nice that your mum is interested", "Cool that you were able to help her" and "I'll go welcome her". Well, except Tournedos "What you tell us you're an admin for?" (=an economic way of explaining I knew the rules on en., I thought). I reckon that was code for "Don't come here throwing your weight about". Bishonen | talk 19:40, 25 June 2006 (UTC).
Erich Heller
Please help. An Australian highschool student, User:Harro5, has just deleted (at 09:39 on 2 July 2006) my Erich Heller article from my user's subpage. I have given it three months of my life so far. Dear, you need to spring to action. -- Prof02 10:29, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
Harro5
Tups, please see Harro5's recent post on my page. Supposing I e-mail Harro tomorrow and lay out the problem, and you give the professor a crash course in how to click on the direct link, or bookmark his page or something? Is that a fair division of labour? (I have re-deleted and protected the redirect.) Actually it might work best if you wrote to Harro too, since you are eloquent on the subject. Best, Bishonen | talk 01:19, 3 July 2006 (UTC).
Academic fencing
I saw on the talk page of Academic fencing that you were interested in completing and/or improving that article. Apparently User:Kresspahl did not dare to do so. I have just started. It would be nice if someone who is interested in that exotic subject would check if this can be understood by someone who was not born in Central Europe. Best regards, --Rabe! 20:21, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
LC Pages
Thanks for looking into this. My internet connection dropped out while I was composing them. I was trying to have them be subpages of my talk page -- a kind of concept sandbox. I hope to show it to other users later as an idea for development. Will its current place keep it out of everyone else's way? --CTSWyneken 15:44, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Raffelstetten
Tupsharru, you seem to believe there is some importance to this, but nothing links to this page. Is there some reason I should not WP:AFD it. meatclerk 21:53, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- I moved your question and replied at Talk:Raffelstetten. Tupsharru 06:14, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
proposed deletions
The Misplaced Pages procedure for "proposed deletions" mentions nothing about a required edit summary, whereas AfD does. I therefore assumed that it was automatic. And in what article did I propose deletion merely because of the title? Bueller 007 12:06, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- As I said, I thought it was automatic. AfD specifically states that you should create one, whereas prod does not. And seeing as I have reviewed and classified at least 900 Japan-related stubs over the past 3 or 4 days, I was understandably eager to save a little time whereever possible. Perhaps if it's as important as you say, it's a good idea to change the "prod" procedure to indicate that users MUST add edit summaries?
- There should be no problem at all automating that in the Wiki software. It's a simple if statement. "If prod, add 'Deletion of this article has been proposed' to edit summary." You could automatically drop a message on the discussion page of the person who started the article as well.
- If it makes you feel better, I will move the article to AfD. Bueller 007 12:38, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
Misplaced Pages:Requests for arbitration/Eternal Equinox/Workshop
Thank you for your supportive comments here They are appreciated. That Fred Bauder thinks I can be banned instead of Eternal Equinox has caused me to have a severe sense of humour failure. In retrospect, of course instead of making light of Eternal Equinox, I should have taken her very seriously - which is what she wanted - but frankly she and her edits on our talk pages were (at best) a joke - so one could either laugh or cry, and crying has never been my style. That Fred Bauder thinks Bishonen should be "cautioned" is, in short, disgusting. She seems to spend hours and hours trying to create harmony on the site, and takes her responsibilities as an admin 100 times more seriously then most of the others. I think the Arb-com now needs a huge kick, and to rid itself of insulting and incompetent buffoons. I expect I shall stick around Misplaced Pages, but at the moment mu entheusiasm for it is at an all time low. Sorry this is a (sort of) spammed message, but when I saw all of your comments for the first time this evening, I felt a quick response was necessary, but that makes it no less sincere. Thanks once again, it's nice to feel supported. Giano | talk 19:42, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- Gosh! that is just beautiful, very similar to indeed to Winslow Hall which is a page I keep meaning to bring up to FA standard if ever I have the time to go and foto it - how amazing - I had never heard of it - well done Giano | talk 21:11, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- PS Just a moment why is Winslow Hall red? - I wrote the page when I was new here, it has disapeared, it was possibly by Wren - I researched for ages copying transcripts - where the bloody hell has it gone - why has it turned red - I'm getting a feeling and it is not a happy one. it was linked categorised everything was fine - where is it? Who is an admin here who will know? Giano | talk 21:11, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
The Hive
There's a pretty good article on Misplaced Pages, perhaps the best I've read, in the September 2006 issue of The Atlantic Monthly, titled The Hive, written by Marshall Poe, apparently an old acquaintance of yours. --LA2 08:03, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- I had actually read it, but thanks anyway. :-) In case you haven't seen it, there was another good article published in The New Yorker a couple of weeks ago. Tupsharru 09:52, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- I keep a list over at http://susning.nu/Wikipedia --LA2 10:04, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
Would you spare a minute to respond to an RfC?
I've now written an RfC to the Christopher Gillberg article. I think it would need some third opinions. I turn to you because I know you are a friend of correct and neutral information. So if you have a minute to spare, Talk:Christopher_Gillberg#Request_for_Comment:_Scientific_misconduct_.2F_credible_sources would benefit from your input.
Gratefully, Fred-Chess 19:00, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
PS. it will probably take more than one minute, but I don't think it will take more than 30 minutes.
- I have taken a quick look and may get back to it in a few days, but the issue looks complicated. Tupsharru 18:42, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- It is very unfortunate that the Swedish Wikipedians' Notice Board is completely dead, it would be perfect for this case. I think that "Swedish" users had just to different interests to be grouped. Me and Alarm were interested in geography so it worked well as long as he was here, but after that... It should still be possible to create something out of it, I think...
- I haven't been on English Misplaced Pages much lately (almost exclusively on Commons) so I haven't caught up with what's happened here and I hardly have any friends here at the moment so no-one to ask on how to proceed.

Sorry I got the SEB link wrong on the Wallenberg foundation page, I didn't know the pre-merger Stockholm page existed, and was just trying to fix the flipped link I replaced. Thanks for catching my mistake. jugander (t) 03:17, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Ciskei
Hello, Tup !
In regard to PROD and Ciskei, in what way does the lack of sources NOT qualify Ciskei for deletion? Can you enlighten me a little bit here?
Sincerely,

Diploma mills
I just put up some less than notable diploma mills for AfD, including École supérieure Robert de Sorbon and the ones linked to International Council for Accrediting Alternate and Theological Studies. Arbusto 06:05, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
St. Clements University (Diploma mill)
I put that article up for afd at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/St. Clements University, and want to know if you can find some information about? I didn't really have any luck, as of now it fails WP:V. Arbusto 17:12, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

AfD on Manchester councillor
Hi, I've brought up this AfD: Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Abid Chohan, which you had previously commented on a batch of Manchester councillors including Mr Chohan. I think he is one of the least notable entries. Perhaps you feel like commenting? JASpencer 14:11, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Tony Stigsson
Nice to see you cleared up the Swedish Misplaced Pages entry on the notorious Tony Stigsson, this is the kind of story that always attracts uncritical rehashing of what the tabloids are saying. I'm doubling between the Eng and Swede Misplaced Pages too, and will be looking a bit at what's happening with the Stigsson entries in both editions; they're both going to expand in the near future as the investigation and the discussion of his future are up again. Procedures and processes
Hi Tupsharry, are you well informed with procedures and processes around here? I have discovered a user whose user contributions are almost entirely - or as far as I can see, actually entirely - consisting of editing and creating pages relating to himself, his activitites and the very narrow field in which he is active. The article about himself claims he is the auctority in Canada in this field - he is the source for that. The article about himself is currently on AfD, but hardly anyone seems to notice that particular AfD. I don't really know what to do. I have been pointed to WP:AUTO, but how should I actually go about this? Write on his talk and point to AP:AUTO and WP:VANITY? What about the existing articles? Is content ever removed because it was written by the subject himself? I'd like to remove some links to his websites he put in some articles etc... but I don't want to be accused of being a wiki-stalker and actually, I am very very tired of trying to do the right thing without much support from others. Do you have any suggestions for me?
I could drop half a dozen of links here, but I won't do that unless you think you might be interested in at least looking at them. // habj 17:21, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- A bit nebulous... I think that if independent reliable sources can be found supporting some modest notability, even if not as great as he thinks himself, the article(s) should be rewritten in accordance with what is verifiable. (If he is an academic, which is the impression you give me, you should check Google Books and Google Scholar, as well as other citation databases, electronic journals and that kind of thing.) If there appears to be no way to verify the content, the articles have to be deleted.
- I think pointing him to WP:AUTO and clarifying the need for sources independent of himself, in accordance with WP:RS and WP:V, should be the first step. If he ignores you and/or edit-wars about the issue, you should probably take it to WP:AN/I. Tupsharru 07:10, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. I dropped a note on his talk. In case you like to drop an eye, the real-life person is Mike Salisbury. I'm not asking you to do anything about it, though. We'll see what happens. // habj 10:36, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Cylinda afd
Hi, I closed it as keep (you made the only comment). You mentioned that it should be moved, but I'm not really certain about it since I've seen products of the Cylinda brand (in Finland), know about Asko, but have never heard of "Asko Cylinda" (and the article title is Cylinda in the Swedish wikipedia). If you still think it's better to have the article under Asko Cylinda, feel free to move it though. Thanks. - Bobet 10:23, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
