Sayeed Salahudeen (real name, Mohammed Yusuf Shah) is the head of the Hizbul Mujahideen, the most prominent Islamic militant organisation in Kashmir. Pro India people call him a terrorist while pro Pakistan people, a freedom fighter.

He left the democratic political system in 1989 when polls (according to him) were rigged by the Indian government to stop the victory of an opposition pro freedom alliance, Muslim Muttahida Mahaz (MMM) party. He then formed a militant organisation with the help of Shamsulhaq, Maqbool Alai, Abdullah Bangro,Majeed Daar and others.
