Background information

Maryland's unique recipe was brought over from the USA in 1956. It is now the UK's best selling cookie.

Flavours

The flavours available for Maryland Cookies are:

  • Choc Chip.
  • Double Choc.
  • Choc Chip & Hazlenut
  • Choc Chip & Coconut
  • Fudge Brownie

Package/Wrapping

A normal sized box is about 22.5 x 5.5 x 6.0 cubic cm. It clearly states that Maryland Cookies are "The ORIGINAL Cookie". The cookies are wrapped in a thin cellophane coating which is hard to break and often results in one or two broken cookies.

Fun facts

Over 12 Billion Maryland cookies are sold worldwide each year. This is enough cookies to stretch right across America, from the Pacific, through the state of Maryland, to the Atlantic Ocean.

There are an average of 18.863 cookies in an average, normal sized, cookie box.

In 1982, a small importer of Maryland Cookies in Norway was convicted for smuggling drugs inside the cookie boxes. The drugs were put together with the cookies and resealed with a new cellophane coating to prevent police dogs from finding them. The amount of drugs was pretty small, so the jail sentence was a short one.
