If you wish to contact me, the quickest and easiest way is to use This Talk Page. If I am logged into Misplaced Pages, which is likely if I am awake, I will see the new messages flag and respond as quickly as I can. Please use my email link only as a last resort Note well-- I believe Misplaced Pages communications should be as transparent as possible. I will post any email related to Misplaced Pages on my talk page. I will respond on the emailer's Talk Page. It is very unlikely that I will respond via email, as that would not be transparent.

Thanks for uploading Image:JamesOblinger.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Misplaced Pages articles constitutes fair use.

You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Re:Closing Afd's
I'm not trying to discouraging, but usually non-admins can only close AfD discussions that result in a basic unanimous vote for keep. AfD discussions that reach a consensus of delete are usually handled by admins. Just telling you from personal experience, hehe. However, regarding the AfD closing templates. I personally don't use the templates. I just copy and paste the coding from previously closed AfD's (the top and bottom template) and then I add the result of the AfD and my signature. So, if you see AfD's that have accumulated a lot of keep votes versus delete votes (after at least a few days), you can speedy close the AfD nomination, and remove the AfD nom from the article page. Keep up the good work, though! =) --Nishkid64 01:27, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

RfB With A Smile :)
My chances for RfA
Hello, I am messaging you and a couple of other people that participated in my RfA back in May. I am considering making another request soon, but before I do I wanted to get some opinions on my chances.
Last time I applied you opposed based on lack of experience. Looking back I agree with this assessment. I now have over 3400 edits and a further 5 months experience. If I were to nominate myself again, would you still object based on my experience? Thanks for the help, I appreciate the information. HighInBC 17:34, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, I'm at work so I haven't the time to look things over, but I should be able to tomorrow or Tuesday. I don't reommend self-nom because self-nom's tend not to do as well. Thanks for asking me my opinion. I'll look over your contribs and talk page and get back to you by Tuesday this time. Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 00:35, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Wow thank you, that is a thorough review. Helpfull too. Regarding some of your questions, I am experienced with admin tools through my own wiki which runs mediawiki software too. Of course I have also read the wikipedia policies and guidelines on the subject as well. I am not a member of the Mediation Committee or the Mediation Cabal but I will look into it, I do often offer third opinions though. I am reviewing the contributions of the people I welcome and give critisism and encouragement as needed, aswell as keeping them on my watchlist for a couple weeks.
I am going to take your advice in participating more in *fD and contacting Tone and Tyrenius. I will also wait a while and try to find a nominator first.
You have been very helpfull, I can tell you put alot of effort into my request and it was well worth waiting for. Let me know if you ever need a third opinion or another brain. HighInBC 19:13, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- You are very welcome. Happy to help.Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 21:19, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale
Hello Dlohcierekim. Would you mind adding fair use rationales as described here to the remaining images here? I believe they're all your uploads, and/or you've contributed to them. Thank you! --Fang Aili 22:42, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- lol, see what happens when you try to help(kidding)? Seriously though, the same rational can be used for many of those images. HighInBC 22:59, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, if they are fair use uploads, they are not mine. All I do is make them small enough to be below the 300 X 300 threshold. I was not brave enough to figure out what the rationale of the original uploader was. Frankly, I find the whole fair use thing unbearably confusing. They seem too valuable and useful to delete out of hand, but the idea sure seems tempting.
- Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I don't understand fair use well eonough to correctly tag images originally uploaded by others.Shrinking them seemed like a worthy goal, so that's what I did.
- I get around my ignorance by using mostly images I create myself. The one exception is ]], the image of a map I added to the Timeline of Largo history as User:Mikereichold. I scanned an image from a newspaper clipping in my local library's map collection. Hopefully, my rationale is sufficient, or the image would have to go. Thanks. Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 02:34, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, actually, the link is red and I can't figure it out. Anyway, if it's going to cause too much disruption, maybe I should just stop shrinking the fair use images. Wish I understood fair use better, but I keep going cross-eyed over it.Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 02:40, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for helping out, really. I think cropping them down does help, but they still need a fuller fair use rationale. I just saw your name on a bunch of images and thought you might like a chance to correct them. To be honest I don't fully understand image policy, but I think very few people do. :) So I just try to do the best I can. Cheers and happy editing, Fang Aili 18:06, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- What I find frustrating is I don't see any of the fair use ratinales as necessarily relevant. That's when I get frustrated, say , "just delte them all!" Then I feel bad because I love images and believe they realy improve the articles. If anyone could provide an expalnation I can understand . . . .Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 19:38, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- I think it's because Misplaced Pages is getting more sensitive about copyright issues. We want to close any legal holes we can.. hence the rationales and tags and everything. Images are a really sticky issue in general, or so I gather. I'm not anything close to an expert on it, though. --Fang Aili 21:29, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
WP:RFA/Cynical
Thank you for contributing to my RFA. Unfortunately it failed (final tally 26/17/3). As a result of the concerns raised in my RFA, I intend to undergo coaching, get involved in the welcoming committee and try to further improve the quality of my contributions to AFD and RFA. All the best. Cynical 14:58, 19 October 2006 (UTC) |
Remembering how to redirect
The first line of a redirect needs to be #REDIRECT ] or #redirect ] , with double square brackets around the name of the page you want to redirect to. :-) FreplySpang 00:45, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, you are fast. I got an edit conflict after I figured it out. Thanks again!Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 00:47, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
Steve Mazzagatti
I'm still pretty new to Misplaced Pages and this was the first one I've created, but I thought he would be a significant person? My google search returned 1080 results, and I see him on TV all the time. Is the article okay?
- But Herb Dean and John McCarthy (referee) are both referees too so I thought it would be okay? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dumbwhiteguy777 (talk • contribs) (moved to bottom for better flow Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 00:52, 20 October 2006 (UTC))

A humble request for your opinion
Hello! I hope you are feeling fine. Recently, you expressed an oppose opinion with regards to my RfA. I would like to thank your feedback on this but I need another critical feedback from you. If you could spare a few minutes to voice any concerns you may be having with regards to my contributions to this project since my last RfA on this page, I would be most grateful. Once again, thank you for your time! --Siva1979 06:07, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
Just so you know
I actually copy pasted that from someone elses page. Would you change your mind if I changed my talk page?--HamedogTalk| 12:47, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, but then the closing AfD thing came up. If this doesn't succeed, heed my advice and your next RfA will probably be ok.Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 14:34, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well it seemed like any editor could close an AfD based on the comments. I was trying to please people--HamedogTalk| 14:38, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, dear. This brings up two points. Admins must not worry about pleasing people. It's a thankless job, and admin's generally displease someone at some time or another. The other problem is just plain not knowing policy. I got carried away and did the same thing a few weeks ago-- scared me off AfD's for a while. Take part in AfD debates for a while. Then ask an admin for some pointers on how to be helpful in closing. (Which I did not do.) Once admins see they can trust your judgment, they will be likely to help with your next nom. Don't get discouraged. You just need more experience.Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 14:45, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
