The monastery church St. Troitsa
In north-west direction from the village of Dushintsi in a beech forest is the place Manastir (eng.: monastery).
According to some historical sources there was a small orthodoxal monastery built and existed during
the Second Bulgarian Kingdom (XI - XIV). In our days there is only a little chapel remained. The church had been
destroyed a lot of times during the Otomans Yoke pereod. It was restored last in 1892 and sanctified in 1900.
Few metres in front of the main entrance two venerable trees rise - a beech and an ash. By the local legend
they had growed just where turkish soldiers slayed the prettiest maiden of Erul - Buka (eng.: beech) and
her beloved Jasen (eng.: ashl). By another legend in time of a previous restoring of the chapel in 1832
the builders had immured the shade of a native girl in the roots. The last inhabitant of the church -
the monk Old Metodi, who died in 1958 - had been seeing lots of times the spirit of the girl, dressed in white
at night-time in the woods.
