Child's Play is an upcoming horror film written by Tyler Burton Smith and directed by Lars Klevberg. It is a reboot of the 1988 film of the same name and serves as the eight installment in the Child's Play franchise. It stars Brian Tyree Henry, Aubrey Plaza, and Gabriel Bateman.

By July 2018, Collider reported that a modern-day version of Child's Play, a reboot, is in development at MGM, with Polaroid filmmaker Lars Klevberg directing it, Tyler Burton Smith writing the script, and Seth Grahame-Smith and Katzenberg producing it.

Principal photography began in September 2018 in Vancouver.

David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith will serve as producers, after previously co-producing It feature film adaptation. The plot will reportedly feature a group of kids, similar to Stranger Things, and a hi-tech version of the Good Guy Doll.

Filming
