Limp Bizkit is an American nu metal band. The band consists of lead singer Fred Durst, bassist Sam Rivers, a drummer and DJ Lethal -- former guitarist Wes Borland, who was with them for their first three albums, and did the cover art for the last two, left in 2001.
Their career began with their first release, Three Dollar Bill Y'all, which was supported by tours with Soulfly and Cold, as well as playing the Family Values tour. This relatively underground period built the band a respectable reputation as a live band worth seeing, and gave them a large fanbase. The song "Faith", a cover of the George Michael song, was a particular favourite among fans.
Significant Other, the band's second album, was the album that saw Limp Bizkit's popularity begin to explode. However, it was their third, Chocolate Starfish And The Hotdog Flavored Water, that really made them, with the popular singles "Rollin'" and "My Generation", as well as "Take A Look Around", their Mission Impossible II soundtrack contribution.
The band became mired in controversy in 2000 during a tour of Australia with the Big Day Out rock festival. At the Sydney concert, a teenage girl was crushed to death by fans rushing the stage. It was claimed that Durst was urging the crowd on, or at least failed to attempt to calm the crowd. An inquest into the death is continuing (as of January 2002).
