Ok, thanks for explaining yourself. I have reverted my edits. --Khoikhoi 03:07, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
Hey, what the...?
OK, what's with the fake "You have new messages" banner on your userpage? You had me fooled! Do you want me to get you blocked for disruption of the project by causing a 16-year-old to have a heart attack? ;) --D-Day 17:26, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Tassos Papadopoulos.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Tassos Papadopoulos.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Misplaced Pages (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. SteinbDJ 19:12, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
Spyros Kyprianou
Hi UNFanatic.
I've made a few updates to the infobox about Spyros Kyprianou. However, I can't find a good source for his exact term of office. Archbishop Makarios died on 3 August 1977, and I've found a reference that Kyprianou was elected on 10 September . Kyrianous' infobox says 3 September 1977. Do you know if he simply assumed office upon Makarios death or did he have to wait to assume office? The same source states that George Vassiliou became president on 14 February 1988, so I presume Kyprianou's term of office ended the same day?
BTW, PIO has images of the missing Cypriot presidents . Best regards --Valentinian 11:01, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
impulse control 'Cyprus' and 'Macedonia'
I would tentatively argue that it seems unfair that we should identify 'Cyprus' with the southern 'Republic of Cyprus' and leave out the unrecognised TRNC. Just as it is wrong to encourage people identifying 'Macedonia' with the fy Republic of Macedonia and leave out the historical Greek province of Macedonia. What does it mean to be a Cypriot or a Macedonian? It used to mean to be Greek, but the world has moved on. It seems to me that some Cypriots want to present themselves as nothing bu Cypriot or Greek or British or Greek Cypriot according to what benefits them most and they might end up in nowhereland (this is obviously no reference to you UNFanatic, whom I don't know).Politis 17:22, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

- Hello again and sorry for taking so long to respond (exams exams exams). I can't say I understand what you mean in your reply... There have been no revert wars in the article so far and there is no POV tag anywhere. And in no way did I try to make you revert your edits, the contrary. The only thing I tried to do was to contructively criticize them, make a few suggestions and the like. I would go ahead and bring your edits back and try to improve them if I didn'thave an exam on Databases the day after tomorrow! (damn' those Boyce-Codd Normal Forms!) I hope I have not offended you in any way. --Michalis Famelis 23:40, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
Happy for you
Thanks for your message. I understand and respect how you feel about Greece. But as far as I am concerned, Greeks paied a heavy price against the junta and other oppressors; they do not need the (southern) Republic of Cyprus - one of the richest countries in the world - milking them financially and abusinig them emotionally. Also, I hope you are active in making sure that the Cypriots of the ROC stop abusing Greek diplomatic support. Also, please make sure that the Cyprus issue stops dominating Greek diaspora organisations and Greek lobbies, it simply uses up their valuable time and they could concentrating on important Hellenic issues. If you are a Greek Cypriot and are angry against the Greeks, make your voice heard, LOUD and CLEAR; this is the only way to make the two countries come to their senses. Politis 20:31, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
It is obvious that we both dislike "right wing monarchists and coupists". I just feel that the ROC establishment (the koumbarokratia) is abusing Greece, it is abusing the Greek lobbies and it is abusing the fears of ordinary Greek Cypriots. I might be wrong, but that is how I see things right now. I feel that the koumbarokratia is using, for its own benefit, the presence of Turkish occupation troops in the north. Today we can argue that the troops benefit them almost as much as they benefit the Ankara military establishment. I am sure you have nothing against Greeks (you are presumably a member of the Hellenic world) and I have many Greek Cypriot friends, but you are probably angry at people who, in your opinion, lack understanding of the situation in Cyprus. I will think about how to express any future observations on Cyprus without upsetting anyone.Politis 21:01, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Flag.jpeg
Thanks for uploading Image:Flag.jpeg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Misplaced Pages because of copyright law (see Misplaced Pages's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Misplaced Pages are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Shyam 08:36, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

Hey UNFanatic,
If we have the Greek name on Kırklareli, Mersin, Samsun, Amasya, and Sakarya, we have to have the Turkish name on Chios. This is just to be fair. I hope you understand. --Khoikhoi 04:45, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

Cyprus
I think that the article about TRNC is quite balanced, although we could mention the UN Resolution 550 in the history section.it is already stated in the the beginning of the article that it is about and internationally unrecognised breakaway state created after a turkish invasion.i think,it would be better not to fill the first paragraph with the UN resolutions(which ,btw, are many!).It would be important additional information if these things were added as No5 in history section.Kai kati allo, mias kai milas ellinika...sto user page sou eida kati pragmata pou tha mporousan na ekliftoun enantion tis Elladas, kanw lathos?--Hectorian 13:32, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
Gr-Tr board
Hello! Are you still interested in the Greek and Turkish wikipedians board of cooperation? I think we have mustered enough people to get this started, but since it's been quite some time, it would be nice to have a confirmation by the people who have shown interest, before going official. Please leave a note (affrimative or negative) in the proposed project talk page. --Michalis Famelis 16:55, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Wikiproject Cyprus
What will be my responsibilities if I will be a member of such a project? About categorizing, I spent a month and I have categorized everything related with Cyprus. I don't suppose it needs further categorizations. --KRBN 23:48, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
I have included everything related with Cyprus into Category:Cyprus --KRBN 00:03, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Hi. If you want to create such a project it should be at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Cyprus, i.e. in the Misplaced Pages name space. I deleted . Good luck! Punkmorten 22:55, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
First of all, the Cypriots who have emigrated to other cities, will not be included directly to category:Cypriot people but to the Category:People of Cypriot descent. That happens to all the people who have emigrated. For example, Tracey Emin will belong to British people of Cypriot descent. Really the Category:People of Cypriot descent and its subcategories, is the only one that needs expansion (the others include ALL the articles related to Cyprus). Few months ago, I did a big effort by creating it and populating it. However, unfortunatelly one idiot put the category:British people of Cypriot descent- which was including more than 45 articles- under deletion, despite that there were similar categories relating to American, Australians, etc.. Recently it has been recreated again but it has only 9 articles and needs big expansion.
There is an article of Greek Cypriot diaspora and Turkish Cypriot as well. There is article also for List of cities, towns and villages in Cyprus, so rename what you wrote on Cyprus Tasks, List of Cities in Cyprus. Also, in my opinion, the articles Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots and List of Cypriots must be included on the WikiProject Cyprus tasks. The same about articles related to Sport in Cyprus.
You have included an article 3 times; List of Cypriot Archbishops, List of Archbishops of Cyprus, Archbishop of Cyprus.
Check the category:Cyprus and its sub-category, you can find almost all the articles.
Good Luck and I can help you in anything you want. --KRBN 10:42, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Your VandalProof Application
Dear UNFanatic,
Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that at this time you do not meet the minimum requirement of 250 edits to mainspace articles (see under main here). Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. - Glen 08:06, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
Dear UNFanatic
Dear UNFanatic, it'll be a pleasure to help you with your request, and I'll take the opportunity to congratulate you on your great new initiative. You can rest assured I'll try my best to help you with it, although I'd like to know if you merely want me to enhance the visual appearance of the Project's page, or you're also in need of a general build up; i.e. templates, nav bar and such. I can of course also lend a hand with these, if needed, tho I'll need additional info in that case. For the moment I'll focus on the Project's main page layout and design, if that's ok with you - just give me a day or two, please, k, hun? I'll get back to you asap :) Hugs, Phaedriel ♥ The Wiki Soundtrack!♪ - 20:07, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the response on the Kyrenia article. Please though remember to assume good faith. I was not attacking and I didn't really expect a response that demanded to know who I work for. That's irrelevent. If it's best left alone then ok.Mallanox 09:27, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Welcome!
Welcome!Hi, and welcome to the Countries WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Misplaced Pages's coverage of counties.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Starting some new articles? See some model pages such as Cambodia!
- Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every country article in Misplaced Pages.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! User:Shy1520 21:42, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
