Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Current requests for protection
Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Tadeusz Kantor (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Article is facing edit war. A source detailing the mistaken notion of Kantor's father being Jewish on a German theatre lexicon is being ignored as "less reliable" than the actual German theatre lexicon. No legitimate reasons are being presented why the theatre lexicon should be thought of as correct even after it is proven to be wrongly assumptuous, and instead the article is facing random reverts. 04:51, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Anna's Taqueria (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection IP vandal 24.91.56.77 has edited the article dozens of times to remove anything critical and to turn the page into an advertisement. — ShadowHalo 04:39, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Morrison Christian Academy (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection. This article had been plagued with the edits of 220.191.79.* for a week now. He had been adding in questionable clauses that border on the verge of vandalism or is already vandalism (his Oct 21 was pure vandalism, as pointed out by User:Axlq). I had tried to reason with him and resolve the conflict with him in the Talk page, even leaving a message in his IP talk page that he should try to discuss his views before putting it on the main page. He responded to me for a time but now does not listen and continues to edit the page to his radical viewpoints. Many Misplaced Pages authors had reverted it back (User:Asdf1248, User:Chinesetaipei, User:219.81.231.226, and User:219.86.98.19) but 220.191.79.* continues undeterred. Requesting semi-protection so the integrity of the article could be upheld from the constant vandalism of that user. Chrissu 03:45, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Current requests for unprotection
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
LAN Gaming Center (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Its been like a week now and also they blocked my ip of 66.93.251.114 so I can't dispute... help 4.231.201.116 05:16, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Democratic Underground (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
I believe that this dispute is over now that the person who started it has been discovered to be a troll using an open proxy. BenBurch 02:19, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Operation Gladio (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
This is the weakest "edit war" ever. The real political articles would never be unprotected if this qualifies as an edit war. Please unprotect so that we can implement reliable sources and remove references to unreliable ones. --Tbeatty 20:44, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Brahma Kumaris (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Request for Unprotected because currently there is more vandalism by the registered user Riveros11 and more editors are needed for a balanced view vs a Brahma Kumaris PR Advertisement view. Note that protection has bein in place since November 5th. Regards TalkAbout 03:32, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Joe Lieberman (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Page was protected over a day ago. No justification was given; no discussion was initiated on the talk page. There were several (not many) reverts of a potentially objectionable phrase about an 'anti-Palestine' lobby, but the protecting admin preserved that phrase (another admin subseq rem under WP:BLP. There was also discussion and editing about Lieberman's party affiliation. Discussion has continued, and editing just resumed (on the protected page) through an admin-proxy. All that protection is doing is damping discussion. Perhaps semi-protection is called for if the 'anti-Palestine' usage reappears. Jd2718 05:14, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Current requests for significant edits to a protected page
ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
Playstation 3 (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
The Playstation 3 page has been vandalized yet it appears to be protected.
- The thing is that the original article PlayStation 3 which has been protected and not the above redirect page. I've just protected it. -- Szvest 14:33, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Fully protected. This is just to make sure the bot archives this. -- Steel 16:25, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Fulfilled/denied requests
Deir Yassin massacre (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Requesting full protection due to an edit war. John254 22:21, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Frank Lampard (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection - Repeated vandalism by numerous IPs. At least 70 edits over the last half hour. --snowolfD4 20:56, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
World Wrestling Entertainment (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Requesting semi-protection. Recent/Heavy vandalism from anon's falsifying information, adding rumors, and adding nonsense. --I c e d K o l a 20:32, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Kim Jong-il (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection - Virtually, all edits in the past few days were unconstructive and vandalism and there were quite a lot too. Maybe semi-protection will help here even if a minority of vandalism edits are from registered users.--JForget 19:05, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Lifespring (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-Protection - I requested this earlier, and it was removed for some reason, without either being confirmed or denied. There are several people who are vandalising this page, removing paragraphs with multiple sources, simply because they don't like the content. It is not possible to discuss this with them, since one is an anon IP address. Both users have been warned multiple times. It is becoming frustrating, since when I revert the page to the unvandalised form, I lose all of the copy edits. A little help would be sincerely appreciated. Jeffpw 11:24, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Declined. Semi-protection will not solve this problem. -- Steel 12:09, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Well then, what will????????????????? The removal of sourced information by anonymous users who won't discuss the changes seems like vandalism to me. What would you suggest?????????? It is now happening multiple times a day. I have now tried to get the users blocked. Jeffpw 15:54, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- It's not only anons removing that section. It's also a good faith effort, not vandalism. There is no real edit warring occurring, and you've put a lot of effort into improving the article these last few days, so full protection isn't an option. -- Steel 17:15, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Tomas Osmeña (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: This article was a target of vandalism by two IP users (] and ]) .. I was worried that they may entirely edit some parts of the article of the Cebu City Mayor which are hard to notice.
Some of their edits were:
- He met Duane Mark Cañete in highschool. He became his enemy. But his mistress Janice May Inoc saved the world from cavitees.
- He met Duane Mark Cañete, who in later years turned into a homosexual drug addict, in highschool. He became his enemy. But his mistress Janice May Inoc saved the world from cavitees.
- He met Duane Mark Cañete in highschool. He became Cañete's enemy in subsequent years when Cañete was found dealing low grade methanphetamines with Cañete's mistress, Janice May Inoc, a dentist. ----Kevin Ray 03:24, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

File:Emblem_of_Kyrgyzstan.png (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
This image is protected for no reason that I can see. The copyright attribution is incorrect at present (the attribution states that a GIF of the original image may be freely used but this version is a PNG) so the page needs to be unprotected so that the correct copyvio template can be added. -- Hux 18:21, 11 November 2006 (UTC).
- Un-protected. It's not on the Main Page anymore. Nishkid64 01:38, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Michael Ignatieff (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
The article was protected 3 weeks ago to deal with problem editors who have since been blocked or quit editing even the talk page. At least 2 editors who were not involved in any problems and who have not been accused of any wrongdoing have requested the article be unprotected; The administrator, SarahEwart, is keeping a watchful eye on the article so if any problems recurr she can quickly protect it again if necessary but for now it should be unprotected as there are numerous important current developments related to Michael Ignatieff which are being left out of wikipedia because of the protection. 65.95.151.230 14:24, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Unprotected Shyam 15:00, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- ottawaman, you are evading a block. Please do not speak on my behalf. If other editors who are not currently evading their block wish to make changes to the article, they can do so via the talk page. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 16:52, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Operation Gladio (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
This article is being protected to keep a POV and unsourced version of history. IT needs to be unlocked so that sourcing and writing can be improved. --Tbeatty 15:26, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Not unprotected due to revert warring. See m:The Wrong Version. -- Steel 15:28, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
You Are What You Eat (UK TV Show) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-Protection - IP account continues to insert potentially libellous information without references. Addhoc 13:11, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- There is not enough recent activity to justify protection at this time. Just watchlist and revert any vandalism. WinHunter 14:06, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Operation Gladio (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Protection - Has been a consistent target of edit warring, complete with numerous blankings of sourced material, and hoax tags. Page was protected by admin Seabhcan to give editors a chance to work out issues of sourcing reliability on talk rather than by edit war. A user complained at the protection, because protecting admin had made an edit, Misplaced Pages:Administrators'_noticeboard#Operation_Gladio. Admin Centrx unprotected based on that complaint. Regardless of the process, the protect was a good idea. We should sort out disputes about sourcing reliability through discussion, not through the revert button. The discussion was becoming productive imho, once the edit-warring and blanking was stopped, but it is nowhere near finished. Derex 08:16, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- I would suggest you don't revert if you don't like revert wars. The article should remain unprotected so that approriate source tags and informaiton can be added. You reverted an edit that added tags while saying it was being hashed out in talk. Also, the particular revert you did was only about style as no information was actually lost. And as I recall, the blanking done by a different editor was a WP:POINT violation, not an actual attempt at removing material. --Tbeatty 08:26, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
