::: {{re|Hamster Sandwich}} My article is not about pellet guns or pellets in general (though I have mentioned briefly what it is on the page, according to sources, specifically relating to this issue being discussed). The article is about their "usage" in the specific region of Jammu and Kashmir. It is a big issue in the region, a national debate often, and has been internationalized due to the area being so called disputed between India and Pakistan. The coverage of this article is beyond the scope of being included within the shotgun article. There are more than enough reliable and notable sources to justify a standalone article in my opinion. I can add a small section if you want into the original shotgun article as you suggested. Maybe even into crowd control articles. I am also not placing this within original Kashmir conflict articles since they are already so large. I will again add a small section in the main articles once this is stabilized. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. ] (]) 16:06, 25 December 2018 (UTC) | |||

Information on deleted article
Hello!
I am attempting to publish a page. I have discovered that a page with the same title was deleted in 2015 by a User. I would like to contact the user to determine more information as to why she deleted the page, but cannot find a way to contact her through the links! Any suggestions are appreciated, thank you! The User's name is "Liz". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Carole Basinger (talk • contribs) 17:43, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- Pinging Liz. She'll now be notified of this discussion. But you'll have to tell her the name of the article. Maproom (talk) 17:53, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hello, @Carole Basinger:. You can check the status of an article's creations, protections, and deletions using Special:Log, and typing the article name in the "Target" field. There, you will might find the user who deleted the article. Good luck on your article. –eggofreason 17:59, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Carole Basinger. I see from your user page and your sandbox that you are interested in Brian Rosenworcel. —teb728 t c 19:36, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- Carole Basinger, the deletion log for that article shows that it was deleted because it didn't show that he was notable by the standards of WP:MUSIC. For future reference, right after Liz's name in the deletion log is a link to her user talk page; you could have contacted her there. —teb728 t c 20:10, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- Someone call me? I heard a ping. The Brian Rosenworcel article was only a few sentences long and didn't indicate why he was a notable drummer and should have an article on Misplaced Pages. Because it was PROD'd, I can recover the page information and put it on a user page for you to work with, Carole Basinger. The article would have to be substantially improved to before it is moved back into the mainspace. Liz 23:36, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

Uploading a photo to page in creation
Hello, and thank you for the friendly help. How do I upload a photo into the draft I am creating? Thank you! Zuzuroo (talk) 19:15, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Carole Basinger. Since your subject is a living person, the photo must be uploaded to Commons. If you took the photo yourself, you can upload it using Commons:Special:UploadWizard. If it was taken by someone else, have the photographer upload it there. —teb728 t c 19:48, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
Responding to User:teb728 Must the photographer be a Misplaced Pages User? Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Carole Basinger (talk • contribs) 19:04, 22 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Carole Basinger. I just noticed your follow-up question. No, see Misplaced Pages:Donating copyrighted materials and Misplaced Pages:Requesting copyright permission. —teb728 t c 21:36, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
Pls approve the article asap!
Hello everyone,
I received a message that I should connect all the articles with the sources of Draft:Benjamin Schnau . I did that already on my last change.
What are you still asking for?
User Whispering is saying it would be OBVIOUS I don't do anything to make the article better which is an assumption he is doing which is offensive and rude and completely not the case.
I did what was asked for before already and now get that as a reply. Very unsatisfying.
Pls review the page its all connected.
Thanks in advance — Preceding unsigned comment added by Franklin187 (talk • contribs) 21:28, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Franklin187: The article is probably not going to be approved right now because:
- Many of the sources you cited are not reliable.
- I'm having trouble finding which sources are independent.
- It's unclear what sources support what article material.
- I've left instructions on your user talk page that explains the simple way to write articles that will not be rejected or deleted. You just need to summarize at least three professionally-published mainstream academic or journalistic sources that are independent of Schnau but still specifically about him. That's it. Writing unsourced material and slapping on dozens of questionable sources is a waste of your time and ours.
- Also, why does it need to be approved immediately? Ian.thomson (talk) 21:34, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
I didn't say immediately I said as soon as possible which is different.
I'm having trouble finding which sources are independent What do you mean by that statement 'independent'. All these articles are independent created based on the work he did.
- It's unclear what sources support what article material.
If you check the articles and sources you see the titles and the movies he was working on which is what the article is talking about??
https://www.stern.de/panorama/gesellschaft/benjamin-schnau--ein-deutscher-und-sein-harter-weg-nach-hollywood-7860132.html http://www.manilaupmagazine.com/issues/vol3-8/mobile/index.html#p=80 https://christoph-ulrich-mayer.com/unkategorisiert/von-den-besten-lernen-speaker-made-in-hollywood-2-2/ https://www.astrid-arens.com/the-german-oscars-2018/?lang=en
All these sources for example above are independent journalistic resources. I clearly don't understand what the problem is with that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Franklin187 (talk • contribs) 21:41, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
Thanks in advance for your reply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Franklin187 (talk • contribs) 21:38, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Franklin187: What you need to do is provide in-line citations. There are two in the article, which are insufficient. Also, both of those sources are IMDB, which is not a reliable source. IMBD is written by its users, not professionals.
- As I've already explained here and on your user talk page, all you need to do is summarize three professionally-published mainstream academic or journalistic sources that are independent of and unaffiliated with Schau. These should be in-line citations.
- If you get on that as soon as possible, the article can be approved as soon as possible. Ian.thomson (talk) 21:42, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
I have a feeling we are talking about different things here.
I'm talking about the external links you look at the reference field.
I added the journalistic sources to the reference field. Is that better? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Franklin187 (talk • contribs) 21:50, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- The draft still doesn't cite any sources. Until it does, it certainly won't be approved. Maybe you need to read Help: Referencing for beginners? Maproom (talk) 21:54, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) @Franklin187: My first post says
I'm having trouble finding which sources are independent
because you dumped the majority of references in the external links. It's unclear what sources support what article material
points to the fact that you're not using enough in-line citations. Many of the sources you cited are not reliable
addresses both sections. - It isn't an either/or problem, both are problems.
- The work you have done so far has been a waste of your time because you did not do it right. If you just follow the instructions I left at User_talk:Franklin187#How_to_write_articles, you will have this over with as soon as possible. Ian.thomson (talk) 21:55, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- (edit conflict)Hi Franklin187. It might seem strange to you, but the only thing you should put under the heading References is {{Reflist}}. Each actual references goes immediately after the statement that it supports, and the system inserts a reference number and lists the references where you put {{Reflist}}. I hope this helps you to understand how Misplaced Pages does references. Dbfirs 22:02, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
@Dfirs: thanks for the info. That means I just put
right under the word 'References' and thats it? Thanks in advance.
@Dfirs: Hi, Could you pls check again now, I connected everything between sources and text of the article. Pls let me know. Thanks for the effort. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Franklin187 (talk • contribs) 23:18, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- Franklin187 Do you work for or represent Benjamin Schnau? 331dot (talk) 23:25, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) @Franklin187: You've just replaced the text with external links instead of adding in-line citations to the end of the supported material. If you would just read the 8 simple steps I left on your user talk page, you'd get this over with sooner instead of wasting your time (and ours). Ian.thomson (talk) 23:28, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- Franklin187 I converted the first of your references to a ref as an example of what should be done with the rest. —teb728 t c 23:35, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
@teb728 Thanks for this example, that helped a lot. I did what everyone told me. Pls let me know. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Franklin187 (talk • contribs) 00:32, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
I did what everyone told me.
Except you didn't, though. Ian.thomson (talk) 00:34, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
@Ian.Thomson: I'm assuming you are talking about point 4, 5 and 6 in the link you sent me? What do these 3 points mean. Even reading them doesnt fully makes me understand what to do? If I'm assuming wrongly, I would appreciate if you would let me know what exactly you are talking about. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Franklin187 (talk • contribs) 00:45, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
- Franklin187 I will ask again; do you work for or represent Benjamin Schnau? 331dot (talk) 23:25, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
331dot: Yes I do! Why are you asking?
- You will need to review and comply with the conflict of interest policy as well as the paid editing policy and formally declare that on your user page or user talk page. The latter is a Misplaced Pages Terms of Use requirement for paid editors. Thanks 331dot (talk) 01:00, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
No this is a misunderstanding I don't get paid for that. What are you talking about? I do this in my free time.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Franklin187 (talk • contribs)
- If you are employed or hired by him to be his agent/representative/public relations person, you are a paid editor and must declare it. We have no way of knowing if you are on your free time or not. If you are just editing at his request and are not paid or employed by him, it is still a conflict of interest that you must declare. 331dot (talk) 01:40, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
Guys can someone pls do me a favor and just tell me know what is still missing on this article beside that. I got this link to this article explaining the steps of how to create an article but have no idea what that means? I added in-line citations, what else is missing. I don't get it! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Franklin187 (talk • contribs) 01:50, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
- There are no deadlines here; feel free to take all the time you need to learn about what you have been told and make the needed declarations. 331dot (talk) 02:05, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
If you work for Schnau you must create a User page and declare that. Even if you are not being paid to create a Misplaced Pages article. David notMD (talk) 04:07, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
- Franklin187, after you have posted the required declarations, there are still points outlined in the post on your talk page that you have not addressed. The most important ones are a) citing sources properly, b) showing the person is notable, and c) removing promotional phrasing. You have gone some way towards a) by placing some of the URLs to your sources within
<ref></ref>
tags, in the relevant places, but there is still a list of unidentified URLs (not connected to any part of the article) in the "References" section, and you do have to cite the sources, that is, clearly identify them so that a reader can understand what the source is, and potentially find the information even if the URL should go away. The link to the information about that (which is also in point 4 in the list on your talk page) is Misplaced Pages:Citing sources. As for b) it doesn't really look as if you followed the advice in point 2. on your talk page - the sources in your article are still basically the same as they were before your draft was rejected, and as far as I can see without spending too much time looking into unidentifid URLs, there is really only one (Stern) that is independent and talks about Schnau in depth, as opposed to mentioning him in passing. This is what is required. (There are also several inadequate references on the page, including but not limited to links to Netflix, YouTube, and Misplaced Pages itself, which do not meet the requirements for "professionally-published mainstream academic or journalistic sources".) As regards c), the draft is not entirely promotional, but it is also not neutrally written. That is often difficult when writing about topics where there is a conflict of interest, but it is not impossible. But again, before you look into these things you have to address the conflict of interest issue. Regards, --bonadea contributions talk 08:40, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
@bonadea: First of all thanks for your comments and feedback. Very valuable. I appreciate it. I addressed the conflict of interest on the user page. And would now work on the points you made in your comments. Is that ok? Thank you in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Franklin187 (talk • contribs) 21:40, 22 December 2018 (UTC)
- If you don't work for him, what is the urgency in getting the draft approved? 331dot (talk) 22:33, 22 December 2018 (UTC)
- Franklin187 has declared COI on User page. I cut and rearranged a lot, but still needs work, especially on referencing. And I also ask, what is with all the urgency? David notMD (talk) 12:16, 23 December 2018 (UTC)
Who changed the search options and why?
The basic search I have done for years now no longer works. Now I have to select image types to search instead of just doing a search that delivers all the images mapped to a specific date. Who thought that was a good idea? Find that person who made that change and tell them they are an idiot. You took something simple and jacked it up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Which-moron (talk • contribs) 04:29, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
- I suspect the changes being referred to (by this now-blocked-user) are those described here. They came about as a proposal in a Phabricator request. See here for details. Nick Moyes (talk) 02:28, 23 December 2018 (UTC)
Listing cultural references from The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana
A question about the page The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana, a novel by Umberto Eco.
Umberto Eco was a semiotician: he worked with words, assigning meaning to words, connecting words by meaning, context, etc.
The novel contains hundreds of quotations/allusions from poems, novels, songs, sayings, paintings, illustrations, etc.
Intertextuality is the main thing in this novel: by identifying and connecting the quotations/allusions that spring into the main character's mind, the competent reader learns about the story and inner world of meanings of the main character, a guy who has lost his autobiographic, episodic memory but not his semantic memory, i.e. he only remembers words — in fact, a Hell or a Heaven for a semiotician.
Any competent reader can identify the quotation/allusion, the original author, the work the quotation has been extracted from or the allusion points to, the year of publication, etc. These pieces of information are not owned by Umberto Eco nor by anyone (except a few quotations might be copyrighted, i.e. owned by the original authors).
I would like to add these pieces of information to the main article, or perhaps to new articles:
- Quotation/Allusion
- Name of Author
- Date of Birth
- Date of Death
- Nationality
- Language
- Title of the work being quoted or alluded to
- Year of Publication
- Website address as a reference for verification purposes
Misplaced Pages rules seem to allow the possibility to declare, with adequate references, the cultural connections that an author has chosen to reveal in their work, for example here or here, or even here, or here.
In the case of Umberto Eco's novel this would take up considerable space - probably many articles, perhaps one for each of the 18 chapters, as this project shows.
Would someone let me know what they think about it?, i.e. if such a project meets Misplaced Pages's criteria.
Unarosaèunarosa (talk) 08:05, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you Unarosaèunarosa for proposing this article and beginning work on it; it could become an interesting expansion to Misplaced Pages's coverage of Eco. All I would say is that such an article would benefit by referring to any published critical commentary that discusses these allusions and associations in The Mysterious Flame. In carrying out an analysis like this, it is important to avoid Misplaced Pages's prohibition on "original research", and not to be tempted to air any new thoughts of one's own: Noyster (talk), 14:52, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for your comment. I have made a draft which has been rejected. I asked advice here. Unarosaèunarosa (talk) 20:22, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Unarosaèunarosa: It is much appreciated that you sought advice here. In my view, and looking at your rejected draft, your proposed article would simply be highlighting innumerable phrases used by one artist and linking them to their original sources. I see that as a bad idea unless it is especially noteworthy in its own right. I'm sure large numbers of other writers have employed the exact same device in their own works. Of course, if you can cite independent, reliable sources with a high degree of academic rigour that demonstrate why this is notable in this particular instance, then you could add or enlarge a section on the page about Umberto Eco, giving a small number of example, plus a citation to allow readers to find more for themselves. Anything else would, as Noyster stated, be Original research, which we do not permit here. I would certainly avoid bloating any content with details like DOB/Date of Death/language/nationality of the donor artist. A simple wikilink should suffice.
- And, whilst I've not checked for it, I very much doubt we have an article listing all the musical references to The Smiths deployed by BBC TV naturalist Chris Packham during his BBC Springwatch broadcasts in 2009, despite there being a reliable source to demonstrate that he did. All three topics are notable, but the linkage between them is not. Whilst I'm not saying that Eco's use isn't noteworthy - you would have to work hard to demonstrate clearly that it is to have a separate article about it. (But maybe I'm just being a bit of a cultural philistine here?) Unless it were very carefully constructed, I would not be surprised if a stand-alone page along the lines you're currently thinking of didn't then quickly appear at a deletion discussion on the grounds of notability and original research. That having been said, I think it could still be a very interesting piece of research to collate and to put online in a blog or discussion forum for others to find via a normal Google search, though not here). All "timeline-related" articles on Timeline of the war in Donbass
Hi all,
I have a question related to "timeline-related" pages on wikipedia, specifically Timeline of the war in Donbass. Many articles related to the mentioned page (such as this & this) are on Special:LongPages with page sizes ranging from at least 400-500kB, the most having about 550kB. Although User:Pigsonthewing split some articles into respective months, they still have a page size of about 200kB. My point is that it seems to violate WP:TOOMUCH & WP:NOTNEWS, shouldn't timelines be a summary of what happened instead of a detailed explanation? In addition, majority of the information is added by 2 users, namely User:Pietadè & User:DagosNavy. Not all might agree with me but I would suggest that the pages to be summarised & unnecessary portions to be removed. To add on, the timeline about World War II only have a maximum page size of ~74kB. ‑‑V.S.(C)(T) 08:18, 22 December 2018 (UTC)
- As for me, You are welcome to summarise, and make much smaller articles (by the way, the current 'timelines' (not correct word for the war) falls into size limit), in some 80 or so years (e.g., if we take for start of the WWII JAP CHI "relations" in 1930s, then it makes some 80 yrs, give or take), to start new "counting"......
currently, people are killed, injured, displaced, in a daily basis, not only 1 (one) reader is interested in the subject (vedi page views)...
'cause, 1 (one) could consider titles like "War, Russian-Ukrainian, S01E01", et cetera...
can anyone hint some date in human history where no (known) war was "enterpris(z)ed"...—Pietadè (talk) 16:20, 22 December 2018 (UTC)
And, shall we start a new article, à la, The list of non-war days in human history, my first entry would be the day Mr Jean stepped on the Moon, since, so far, no known wars on this soil?—Pietadè (talk) 17:37, 22 December 2018 (UTC)
Rejected article
I have written an article about Jasna Horvat which was reviewed, accepted and then removed. The user Scope creep left a comment "Fairly low H-index for subject asserting WP:NPROF. Needs proper examination by review". I'd very much like some help to put the article up again. The page URL is: https://en.wikipedia.org/Draft:Jasna_Horvat — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hidrogen (talk • contribs) 11:01, 22 December 2018 (UTC)
- H-index The person does not seem notable currently, and many of your sources arent great either. (Does facebook seem like a reliable source?) It was pulled for that and being reviewed by a sock. In addition, the infobox is almost useless. WelpThatWorked (talk) 16:30, 22 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Hidrogen: Hello, and thanks for your question. One of the less obvious things about Misplaced Pages is that writing a new article is one of the most difficult things, normally best tackled only by editors who have been making improvements to existing articles for a while. Misplaced Pages has a number of policies and guidelines about new articles, and the one that matters here is called "notability" - it determines whether a particular subject should have a dedicated Misplaced Pages article or not. There are guidelines for different types of subjects: for academics the relevant guideline can be found by following this link to WP:NPROF. Simply being a professor or having some books published is not enough - the article needs to show how the person meets the criteria listed there. And there need to be independent, reliable sources to verify those facts. Please read those 9 criteria carefully, and consider whether there are good sources to show she meets them. If so, write the article based on those sources. If not, the article should wait until she achieves greater notability. If you're not sure, you could discuss the evidence with the original reviewer or ask again here. Good luck. --Gronk Oz (talk) 22:36, 22 December 2018 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, the original reviewer has been blocked for sockpuppetry, Gronk Oz. Hidrogen, I will add a template to the draft that allows you to resubmit it for review, but before you do so, I suggest that you ensure that it is fully supported by references to reliable sources. There shouldn't be anything in an article that can't be supported by a published source. Cordless Larry (talk) 18:45, 23 December 2018 (UTC)

Can I make an article for MEMZ Trojan?
I don't know whether to put it because it's user-made. It's been spreading around the net and I'm not sure whether it should be in this Wiki. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WernerHFan (talk • contribs) 12:12, 22 December 2018 (UTC)
- Generally wikis like enwiki are slow (WP:NORUSH), and "in the news" can be too soon to judge how relevant yet another malware will be in the future. OTOH, it's your decision, if you have reliable + relevant 3rd party sources (cf. WP:42) and want to create an article or stub, be bold. Maybe your article will be deleted, if folks disagree with your judgement call. And don't copy the Wikia (FANDOM) malware wiki MEMZ page verbatim. –84.46.53.231 (talk) 13:24, 22 December 2018 (UTC)

Weight in BLP
d:Q2709 and the biography of Sasha Grey state that her mass is 50kg, and that shaky info is imported by, e.g., c:Sasha Grey. There's no obvious reference and no qualifier (a wikidata "point in time" could make sense). Is this really as it should be in a BLP? It sounds stupid, but what happens if she eats more or less than usual until the end of 2018? From my POV that's nobody's business here, also see d:Wikidata:Project_chat#Wikidata:Living_people. –84.46.53.231 (talk) 13:08, 22 December 2018 (UTC)

Some while ago I was instrumental in creating a page on Misplaced Pages (bibliography of my father,Wing Commander Douglas Rivers Bagnall). - @GK1000: Hello and welcome to the Teahouse. Only administrators can view deleted pages, as allowing everyone to would defeat the purpose of deletion. To be an administrator you need to build up over years an edit history that shows you understand Misplaced Pages policies and practices, and be approved by the community. 331dot (talk) 19:56, 23 December 2018 (UTC)

Follow-up to The Lasting Bible
Muninnbot sent a message to me, received today, 12/23/18 around 2pm (EST). Here it is, “Hi Paul G. Humber! You created a thread called The Lasting Bible at Misplaced Pages:Teahouse, but it has been archived because there was no discussion for a few days. You can still find the archived discussion here. If you have any additional questions that weren't answered then, please create a new thread.”
Muninnbot, thanks for informing me. Would you be willing to help? There had been communication (2 days ago). The one who apparently rejected my submission emailed me as follows:
From: Roger W Haworth To: Paul G. Humber Sent: Fri, Dec 21, 2018 1:07 pm Subject: Re: Please Help
I did not think that the title was User:Paul G. Humber/sandbox - I knew perfectly well that that was the title. Kindly have the decency to wait until a) the book actually becomes notable and b) someone with no CoI writes about it in Misplaced Pages. Roger W. Haworth
I responded to him—same day:
Thanks, Roger, for responding. When I click on my sandbox, this comes up, “A page with this title has previously been moved or deleted. If you are creating a new page with different content, please continue. If you are recreating a page similar to the previously deleted page, or are unsure, please first contact the user(s) who performed the action(s) listed below. 10:27, 19 December 2018 RHaworth (talk | contribs) deleted page User:Paul G. Humber/sandbox (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion) (thank)”
It also says, “To start a page called User:Paul G. Humber/sandbox, type in the box below.” Can you see why I thought the title was misunderstood? Why would I want to start a page called that? Since I am new to the system, I may have made an error of some kind.
The doctor who championed hand-washing was Hungarian doctor, Ignaz Semmelweis. Can you imagine the disappointment he may have felt in promoting good medical practice when experiencing rejection—maybe with words like yours, “Kindly have the decency to wait until your method becomes notable and someone other than yourself promotes it.” According to the Wiki article about him, you can see these words, “his ideas were rejected by the medical community.” Eventually, his views prevailed, but it is sad that women likely died due to the delay.
Are you a philosopher? Englishman Thomas Hobbes was, and his views were right in line with concerns I have. This 17th century philosopher, in his masterwork Leviathan, wrote, “Another general error is from the misinterpretation of the words eternal life, everlasting death, and the second death. For though we read plainly in Holy Scripture that God created Adam in an estate of living for ever, which was conditional, that is to say, if he disobeyed not His commandment; which was not essential to human nature, but consequent to the virtue of the tree of life, whereof he had liberty to eat, as long as he had not sinned; and that he was thrust out of Paradise after he had sinned, lest he should eat thereof, and live for ever; and that Christ's Passion is a discharge of sin to all that believe on Him, and by consequence, a restitution of eternal life to all the faithful, and to them only: yet the doctrine is now and hath been a long time far otherwise; namely, that every man hath eternity of life by nature, inasmuch as his soul is immortal” (p438).
By “otherwise,” he was referring to the prevalent then (and even now) view, but it seems he assumed that “everlasting” was/is a good rendering for the Greek aionios, but it is not. The Greek word means lasting and is durationally indeterminate (can refer to either temporal or eternal things). The English translation, thus, should be equivalent to the Greek, but it is not. Forever is not durationally flexible, but both aionios (Greek) and lasting (English) are. Both can accommodate durational variance—temporal or eternal. Hobbes used the word “conditional” above, in line with “conditional immortality.” I am not aware of any Bible that gets aionios (NT Greek) and olam (Hebrew OT) consistently right. I may be something like Semmelweis—discerning something that needs to change.
On p. 445, Hobbes affirmed, “But there be other places of the New Testament where an immortality seemeth to be directly attributed to the wicked. For it is evident that they shall all rise to judgement. And it is said besides, in many places, that they shall go into "everlasting fire, everlasting torments, everlasting punishments; and that the worm of conscience never dieth"; and all this is comprehended in the word everlasting death, which is ordinarily interpreted "everlasting life in torments": and yet I can find nowhere that any man shall live in torments everlastingly.”
Again, he was struggling with the mistranslation, everlasting. It is sad that translators have used everlasting rather than lasting. He may not have been aware that Jesus actually nullified the mistranslation in Lk 12:47-48 and Matt 10:28. There Jesus taught proportional punishment and eventual cessation-of-being for the wicked. The word often mistranslated “everlasting” (with durational inflexibility) means lasting.
He is not the only one to recognize this problem. There are others, like Clement of Rome, Ignatius of Antioch, Justin Martyr, Irenaeus of Lyon, Defender-of-the Faith Athanasius, Martin Luther, William Tyndale, William Gladstone, Richard Weymouth, Harriet Beecher Stowe, C. S. Lewis, Clark H. Pinnock, F. F. Bruce, John Stott, Philip Hughes, and many more.
Again, if you would be willing to shepherd me through this new (for me) process—how, for example, I should diminish CoI and include references to Hobbes, etc., I would appreciate it. I realize this might take some of your time. Could I pay for services? Jesus said that a laborer is worth of his hire.
Thanks for your consideration, Paul.
Muninnbot, would you be willing to help me? Thank at least for helping a little. --Paul G. Humber (talk) 20:08, 23 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Paul, Muninnbot is a bot -- a program that automatically performs routine actions.
- I can tell that you're passionate about your project. But you don't add articles on Misplaced Pages to gain attention and notability for your ideas; you gain attention and notability for your ideas, and then Misplaced Pages articles reflect that. An encyclopedia wouldn't have documented Ignaz Semmelweis's theories until evidence supporting them accrued and the profession began adopting them. Schazjmd (talk) 20:22, 23 December 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, Schazjmd, or are you a "bot". Sorry, I don't know much about bots. Anyway, assuming you are real (not a bot), could I write something about many down through history who have promoted conditional immortality--in addition to some who have been mentioned in the Wiki article? The Wiki article has some, but many more could be added.Paul G. Humber (talk) 21:53, 23 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hello Paul G. Humber. A bot is an automatic program - a "robot": all bots (and only bots) should have user names ending with "bot". You can write about a subject if you can find reliably published sources that discuss that subject in some depth, and the you can summarise what those sources say. You should not include anything not found in your sources, and in particular you should not include any theory, argument, judgment, or conclusion which does not come directly from a single one of your sources (not even one that you reach by synthesising what two or more of the sources say). Please see Original research. --ColinFine (talk) 23:31, 23 December 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, Colin. I hope I am allowed to say thanks. Also, is it possible to delete my The Lasting Bible thread, or are they kept regardless? Thanks again, Paul G. Humber (talk) 23:42, 23 December 2018 (UTC)
- My first reaction was to dismiss you with: the only shepherding I am willing to do is shepherd you as far away from Misplaced Pages as possible. But I will make a few more comments. It is impossible to diminish your CoI - you edited that edition of the bible!
- Get your version listed on this page.
- Get your version reviewed in the Church Times, The Tablet, the Methodist Recorder, The Friend, similar publications for other British denominations and in other countries. - Hello, Thegooduser. May I wish you seasons greetings and ask if you think you've now achieved a sensible balance between your school work and your Misplaced Pages activities? You are certainly progressing well, and I fear your question may be a little too technical for the Teahouse. I did a search through the WP:Huggle archives, and could only find this post of any relevance. It's a good question, so I'd suggest you ask it at the Talk page of the Huggle page so that others can also benefit from the answer. I've only briefly dabbled with Huggle, but maybe others here can advise. Regards from the UK, Nick Moyes (talk) 00:30, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

Please don't post links to off-wiki downloadable files - these could easily contain viruses and be of harm to other users. I don't understand why you link to an affadavit, nor did I read through it. Image question
I found an image online and I want to add it to an article I created. I checked to see if there any copyright issues but google images indicated no copyright issues. Need help to verify before I post. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pilot03 (talk • contribs)
- Welcome to the Teahouse, Pilot03, and seasons greetings. Had you provided a url to the page where the image sits, we might have been able to assist further. But unless there is an extremely clear licencing statement that the image is freely available for both non-commercial and commercial re-use, then you absolutely must not attempt to upload it for use in a Misplaced Pages article. Ignore the fact that Google doesn't tell you there's a problem. Be pro-active and look for a clear 'Creative Commons' licence statement. If there isn't one, the image cannot be used. Even then, there are various types of CC licence. Give us the url and we might be able to assist further. Nick Moyes (talk) 00:17, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
Thank you for the quick response. Here is the URL to the image. - Thanks for the url, Pilot03. No, I'm afraid you cannot use that image. Just click on Google's 'usage rights' filter link, and select 'Labeled for reuse'. Had the image been licensed for commercial use under a Creative Commons licence, then the image would still have shown on the page. It's clearly not licenced that way, so you may not use it here. Sandbox Questions
I made a little practice edit in My Sandbox, and in trying to save it to experiment with later, I clicked the Publish button, and, naturally it was deleted by User:KylieTastic (Thanks, again, Kylie!) So now my Sandbox User:DaKine/sandbox has this big ol' Template sitting on it. So my questions are: How do I get rid of the template (I'm NOT going to resubmit), create a sandbox I can try edits out on, and save the edits to work on after I log off Misplaced Pages and return later without publishing the changes? DaKine (talk) 02:03, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- DaKine, I've removed the template.
- Kylie came to your draft and chose to slap that decline-template because whilst publishing, you had inserted the code:-
{{subst:submit}}
which (post-transclusion) indicated that you have a potential article for review. - It will be prudential to note that over here, publishing is a variant of save and clicking that button (without any insertion of the above code) will just save your sandbox and let you work/practice wiki-editing without any interference. ∯WBG 07:02, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hi DaKine, yes you are free to remove such notices from pages in your user area - however I have done so for you here as it was still there. You can also remove the notice from your talk page as well if you want. And no worries about the accidental submission, these things happen. Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 12:03, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

Can you make an article about Cyber Songman and Otomachi Una
They're Vocaloids by Yamaha. Cyber Diva and Fukase are already in this Wiki so how about them?
- Hello, WernerHFan, and welcome to the Teahouse. The way Misplaced Pages works is that everything is done by volunteers: you're perfectly at liberty to ask for something, but whether it happens or not depends on whether some volunteer editor decides to pick up your suggestion. Posting your request here is allowed, but there are other places where you are more likely to find somebody to pick it up. The general place to request articles is as Requested articles; but the truth is that the take-up rate there is quite low. Other possibilities are to find an appropriate Wikiproject and ask there; or to contact the editor who created those two articles, Angel Emfrbl, and see if they are interested (I have just pinged them, so they should see this discussion). Something you can usefully do, though, is look for reliable independent sources which talk about those vocaloids; because if there are not such sources yet, then no article is possible.
- Thank you for putting your user name at the end of your post here; but if you sign with four tildes (~~~~) the software will automatically add your username and the time and date. --ColinFine (talk) 09:54, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

Template for Contribution Counting
Is there any template available, which can count automatically user's contribution? —A H M Saqib 09:42, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- Welcome to the Teahouse, আ হ ম সাকিব. Yes there is a way to count editors' contributions. On any user's page, look for the 'User Contrubutions' link on the left hand side of the page. That gives you a list of all their most recent edits. Now look at the very bottom of that page, and you will see a set of links one of them labelled 'Edit Count'. Click that, and you will arrive at the tool which summarises that editor's Misplaced Pages contributions.
- Yours can be found at: https://xtools.wmflabs.org/ec/en.wikipedia.org/আ_হ_ম_সাকিব Hope this is what you wanted. Seasons greetings, Nick Moyes (talk) 10:48, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

- Anchitya. I'm sure IBT is a reliable source for some things. That article is a reliable source that Manohar claimed that it had taken Rs 35 crore in four days: it is not a reliable source for the claim itself. And the article does not even claim that The Villain took Rs 100 crore: just that one of the distributors predicted it would do so. It also says that "trade sources" have given different figures from those.
- Unless you can find a solid, reliable source, wholly unconnected with the distributors or the film in any way, that categorically states that it took over 100 crore, then I advise you to drop the stick and turn your attention elsewhere. And please sign your posts here and on other talk and discussion pages --ColinFine (talk) 15:50, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

To whom it may concern, Al Magharibia Channel in youtube is erroneously being described by Misplaced Pages as a Moroccan Public Broadcast service because it is confusing it with the Moroccan Al Magharibia TV (one word). How to upload your own photograph to English Misplaced Pages
I uploaded a photo of Cynthia Nielsen (which I own) to Wikicommons and posted it on Cynthia Nielsen's page. It was deleted. I am new to Misplaced Pages and am not sure how to proceed. Can someone help me to correctly upload the image? (Unfortunately, I am not super tech-savy.) Thanks in advance for any help you have time to offer. Kzolatova (talk) 16:37, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- Did you actually take the photograph yourself? Dbfirs 16:43, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
Yes. The photo was also used on Academia.edu, and since I own and took the picture myself, I thought it would be okay to use the same photo that had been posted there (https://udallas.academia.edu/CynthiaNielsen). I have the original photo on my computer and can upload it to show you, if that helps.Kzolatova (talk) 16:57, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- The problem is that academia.edu claims copyright. I don't know your exact contract with that organisation. Did you transfer copyright when you uploaded the photo to that site? Dbfirs 17:10, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
I don't recall any copyright agreement. I simply uploaded the image. If I can have the image removed from Academia.edu, which I believe I can, could I then re-upload it to Misplaced Pages Commons, and, as it were, start from scratch? By the way, thank you for the interaction and help. I appreciate it. Kzolatova (talk) 17:16, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

Last question, and thanks again. If I upload a different photo (that I own and that I took myself) to Misplaced Pages Commons--one that has not been posted on any site on the Internet--then it should be okay and I won't be breaking any rules, etc.? Kzolatova (talk) 17:24, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, Misplaced Pages:Uploading images gives full instructions. You might like to use the wizard at Commons. Dbfirs 17:40, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
"Does not appear to be constructive...?"
Hi.
I added the discontinued Cadbury confectionery "Lucky Numbers" (https://www.google.com/search?q=lucky+numbers+chocolates&rlz=1C5CHFA_enGB556GB556&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwinkrT0grnfAhVRqHEKHYj6D3wQsAR6BAgEEAE&biw=1816&bih=914)
to the Lucky Number disambiguation list and had id deleted because it was "not constructive".
It was a major brand in its time, remembered by many "of a certain age" and I don't see why it's any less "constructive" than anything else on the list (see below) some of which are a lot more obscure!

Lucky number may refer to: A number believed to affect one's luck Lucky number combinations, an element of Chinese numerology Contents 1 Mathematics 2 Film, TV and cartoon 3 Music 3.1 Albums 3.2 Songs Mathematics Lucky numbers generated by a particular sieve algorithm. My question is: What is the definition of constructive? Why, for example, is a 2001 song by Jolin Tsai more "constructive" than a product that was famous for decades, which I now see is on this "Cadbury's discontinued products" list? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.153.140.47 (talk) 18:10, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Geartooth: Would you mind explaining why you used a vandalism warning template for something that was patently not vandalism? Imperfectly formatted and not properly sourced? Sure. Vandalism? No. Ian.thomson (talk) 18:13, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- As an editor who created a couple "Candy Bar" related articles in the past, maybe I could offer my help to @Geartooth:? (Holy smokes! Both of those articles are #1 on Google search results!) Hamster Sandwich (talk) 19:09, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
Misplaced Pages Backlog / Articles Needing Sections
Hello! New to Misplaced Pages editing and practicing by going through the Misplaced Pages backlog.
I added new sections to the Glen Murphy page (woo hoo!).
Who removes the alerts at the top? Should I do that? (This article should be divided into sections by topic, to make it more accessible. Please help by adding section headings in accordance with Misplaced Pages's Manual of Style. (December 2018))
Thanks!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Slhalpert (talk • contribs) 19:11, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- Seasons greetings, Slhalpert, and welcome to the Teahouse. Yes, having addressed the issue, you are perfectly entitled to remove the template yourself. Look for the following line, and delete it: {{sections|date=December 2018}} Regards, Nick Moyes (talk) 19:25, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks Nick_Moyes!! Someone got to it before me but now I know for next time!
My vertified corrections on LP singer are being constantely deleted
Hello, I'm trying to correct the wrong information from uncensured tabloids with vertified information sources concerning LP (Laura Pergolizzi) especially her age and past history but it is constantly being deleted. What can I do? — Preceding unsigned comment added by YD65 (talk • contribs) 20:28, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- The place for discussion is on the article's talk page. You will see that the date of birth has been discussed previously. --David Biddulph (talk) 20:49, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- LP's publicity department has done an excellent job in convincing the magazines and purging information in other sources. You might like to know that her friend Alicia Godsberg was born in 1968 also. They started playing as Lionfish in 1995. It is not unusual for Misplaced Pages articles to show the age put out by a publicity machine. Dbfirs 09:30, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
Not sure where to go from draft
I have an article that's saved as a draft that I'd like reviewed. It's not clear to me how to go about doing that. Any advice would be welcome. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SimiCyclist (talk • contribs) 22:42, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- Welcome to the Teahouse SimiCyclist. Your draft was blatantly promotional and copied verbatim from the Groundlings website. What you should do is find significant coverage in reliable sources independent of the subject and summarize it from an neutral point of view in your own words. —teb728 t c 23:31, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
Thank for the input. In order to continue editing, does the draft have to be moved to a new article, or is there a way to edit the draft? — Preceding unsigned comment added by SimiCyclist (talk • contribs) 23:35, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- SimiCyclist. You can continue using the draft title Draft:Steve Bluestein, but the old version was deleted for being so promotional that it would need to be fundamentally rewritten. —teb728 t c 23:47, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
Submissions
Hi,
I've completed two translations and I've fine-tuned the drafts. It's not clear how to submit them for review.
I added the AFC submission template to each one. Will I see some sort of acknowledgement that they are in the queue?
Thanks, Chris — Preceding unsigned comment added by Riedener (talk • contribs) 23:54, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
- Are both awaiting review. You can continue to improve these articles while they are awaiting review.
- This can take a little time. Please be patient
- PS Please sign your posts using four tildes at the end of every talk page post. Also if you are referencing an action performed on another page, a link <---like this to the articles to which you are referring will save people some clicks.
- PPS I had a brief glance at the articles and they contain references, but lack in line citations. The reviewer will probably tell you to add them and resubmit the article. You can read up on how to do this and add inline citations before your article reaches the top of the queue. If you have any further queries related to the article content, please ping me on the talk pages of the articles and I will post any further advice there. Many thanks.
- Edaham (talk) 04:04, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) @Riedener: Welcome to the Teahouse. If you revisit both drafts you will see a very obvious header message confirming they have both submitted. I fear both may be rejected initially as being rather essay-like and not containing any inline references. You may carry on working on them whilst theyre in the AFC queue. See WP:REFBEGIN for help on adding citations. You should remove the redlinked 'Main article' templates as these are not relevant, and consider the relationship between your draft and the current page on Embroidery machine. You will also need to add a template to each to acknowledge the source for the translation. Regards Nick Moyes (talk) 04:19, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
- Nick Moyes & Edaham, please note that an ILC decline is only relevant for BLP drafts, so definitely not valid in this case. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 10:27, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
User requesting rename
please help me, i am newbie and i am lost. where do i have to request rename? Can you please help me, give me an instructions and link . (give me feedback what to do please) — Preceding unsigned comment added by გრინვეი (talk • contribs) 07:05, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
- Welcome back გრინვეი. Go to Misplaced Pages:Changing username/Simple#გრინვეი → Lika and reply to the request that you choose a different username to change to. Apparently the name Lika is already in use. —teb728 t c 08:10, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
- Dear გრინვეი. Because you are very new here, and have only made less than 10 edits, just follow the advice at WP:RENAME which states:
"Users who have made very few edits are encouraged to register a new account and discard the old one."
So, just abandon the old account and create a completely new one. Providing you don't subsequently revert to using the old one as well, this is perfectly ok, and makes far less work for our admins to do. We have thousands of abandoned acccounts here, and you could even leave a note on the old userpage that states the new name you're now using (and vice versa), if you wish. How does that sound? Are snapshots/screengrabs of Google search results allowed in articles?
Hi. Just now I created the page Pellet gun usage in Jammu and Kashmir. I want to add a screengrab of a blurb of an article from TIME magazine related to this topic that shows up in Google search results, currently right at the top. The point of the screengrab will be to show how the media reports on such a topic. This screengrab will be part of a larger prospective section on the page titled "Media reportage" with examples on how different terms are used when it comes to who actually uses pellet guns in Jammu and Kashmir. Are such screengrabs allowed on Misplaced Pages? Thanks. Regards. DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 11:57, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
- DiplomatTesterMan Screengrabs can be manipulated. You're better off simply including the URL in a citation. TimTempleton 15:49, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Timtempleton: Thanks for the reply. The problem with this specific instance is the the blurb for the TIME article says something else, something misleading, which isn't mentioned in the main article itself. Why this becomes a more important example it that it is TIME magazine, and the blurb is first thing appearing when I type "Kashmir pellet guns". This is the article "Faces in the Darkness: The Victims of ’Non-Lethal’ Weapons in Kashmir"... the blurb on Google says - "India's army injured thousands with pellet guns." This is what I want to use. Can Google search results be archived? DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 15:55, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
- @DiplomatTesterMan: welcome to the Teahouse. What you are suggesting is a form of original research, which is not allowed. You'll need independent reliable sources discussing and analysing the media coverage - not instances of media coverage which you yourself analyse. In addition, a Google search is never a good source since what comes out on top is different for people in different parts of the world, and also depends on other searches you have made. So I'm afraid the answer is no, a Google search (whether it is a screengrab or a direct url to the search) is not a useful source. --bonadea contributions talk 15:51, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Bonadea: I don't think what I am is suggesting original research persay. But thanks for the reply. I think I will just leave this out. DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 15:57, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hello User:DiplomatTesterMan; I must comment that in common usage in different parts of the world, a "pellet gun" refers to an air-powered rifle or pistol. The article you have written seems to be about a type of Shotgun with very small type pelletized ammunition... similar to "birdshot" from your description. Perhaps your addition should properly be a sub-section of the more comprehensive "Shotgun" article? Cheers, Hamster Sandwich (talk) 15:54, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
- @Hamster Sandwich: My article is not about pellet guns or pellets in general (though I have mentioned briefly what it is on the page, according to sources, specifically relating to this issue being discussed). DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 16:06, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
Can anyone help me with my peer review?
the link is here any suggestions? thanks --I love rpgs 15:59, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
