I suspected that there might be a better way to change the name of an article when I looked in to how to delete the old one. I had just found it, when I got your message. Bear475 19:19, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for the quick phisical correction ;-) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Teferi (talkcontribs) .

Wow that was quick! Thanks for noticing - I'll put it right! Skinsmoke 10:44, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Trashment Day

Yes, that was definitely a speedy -- it's gone, thanks. NawlinWiki 16:53, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Sword of Embers

Yes, someone else had already clued me on the prod thing. I already changed it to prod. I also got a lovely email from a person that could ONLY be the article authir (based on the level of literacy displayed). --Bill W. Smith, Jr. 16:37, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

ALLBUS

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your interest and for editing the article about the German General Social Survey. Unfortunately, a larger amount of possibly improving text got lost, because we have been working at the same time. That's history - even though quite a few people are interested in this project all over the world. The already existing article about U.S. GSS might give more information about the concept of the General Social Surveys.

The enforced title of the present GGSS article is now German General Social Survey. This is a secondary name. The proper name of this project is ALLBUS. That's what most people would be searching for. You wouldn't change Volkswagen into People's Car - even though that would been at least a translation.

All the best,

Microloan Foundation

Thanks very much Tony (and Mangojuice) for dealing with the issues on this article. The resolution and protocol explanations are much appreciated. Still getting used to how it all works but looking forwarded to contributing in the future!

Sorry

For replacing you speedy tag with mine--I clicked the save button twice, my (same) tag replaced yours after the edit conflict.--Fuhghettaboutit 12:14, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Maori

You're absolutely correct. I've given him an "assignment" to try and expand a current article. Still, I don't want to just "hold his hand" if, after all this time, he's still doing weird edits. Thankfully, he isn't malicious. Just a bit unclear on the concept.  :) See you 'round the wiki. Always a pleasure to hear from you. - Lucky 6.9 02:17, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Spam Reader

Thanks for note! I've added some references proved article notability. Have a good day. - Alrubin 07 November 17:07 2006 (UTC)

No attack template

When you tag a page for speedy deletion {{db-g10}} it gives you a reccomended template to put on the users talk page. I dont remeber what it is, i just copy and paste it when i mark pages for speedy like that! Hope that helped. Chris Kreider 12:11, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Chrisjj's silly error

Thanks for cleaning up after me Tony. You wrote... 'rm test template. Per the contribution record this is an experienced editor!)'... Hmm, not experienced enough apparently :-(

I got totally confused as I haven't done much on Misplaced Pages recently and have been using different wiki software at work where 'user' pages form part of the main structure. Doh! Chris Jefferies 12:49, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Welcome and Tests - Lethaniol

Point taken - I saw you moving the info - so thanks - will do better next time - Cheers Lethaniol 18:47, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Bus Wars

Oh, yes! Episedos! I forgot to include that on the AfD. I don't know whether it's just the day I've had today (caught up with spam and copyvio instead of straightforward vandalism and non-notability) but that just tickled me. I would leave the author a "bravo" note, however I feel it would encourage them to make a fourth season or - heavens forbid - recreate the article! Cheers. Bubba hotep 22:09, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

Hey dude, thanks for reverting vandalism on my user page. Tractorkingsfan 12:19, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Brahma

Hi there once more; I didn't make a comment, other than prodding the article on Temples of Brahma, but in fact I have seen temples to Brahma; not in India, although for all I know they exist, but on Bali, which as you may know is over 90% Hindu.

I see your vandal count is now in double figures; my count has reached 31. You need to get out out there and annoy the vandals more!--Anthony.bradbury 12:34, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

OOps :)

Yes, I did... thanks for catching that! --SB_Johnny||books 12:41, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Yup, sometimes you just can't have enough coffee before trying to make userspace pages :). In case you were wondering, it was for making an RfA thank-you note, as follows:

Thanks for your input!

Thank you for taking part in my RfA. The RfA was not successful, mostly because I did a pretty bad job of presenting myself. I'll run again sometime in the next few months, in the hopes that some will reconsider.

In the meantime, one of the projects I'm working on is A Wikimedia Administrator's Handbook. This is a wikibook how-to guide intended to help new administrators learn the ropes, as well as to simply "demystify" what adminship entails. If you are an administrator, please help out with writing it, particularly on the technical aspects of the tools. Both administrators and non-administrators are welcome to help link in and sort all of the various policies regarding the use of these tools on wikipedia in particular (as well as other projects: for example, I have almost no experience with how things work on wiktionary or wikinews). Users who are neither familiar with policy or the sysop tools could be of great help by asking questions about anything that's unclear. The goal is to get everything together in one place, with a narrative form designed to anticipate the reader's next question.

A second project, related but not entailed, is a book on wikimedia in general, with a history of how various policies evolved over time, interesting trivia (e.g., what the heck was "wikimoney" about?), and a history of how the wikimedia foundation itself came about and the larger issues that occurred during its history (such as the infamous "Spanish Fork").

Again, thanks for your input on the RfA, and thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide for the handbook. --SB_Johnny||books 13:23, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Color Old Lace

Thank you for editing the article on the color Old Lace with me. I have been creating dozens of color articles for Misplaced Pages. I wanted to ask you, how do I download those two templates you have to the right of your talk page that say This user is a native speaker of English and This user is an Aquarius (I am an Aquarius also)?Keraunos 14:21, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

P.S. The reason I began creating the color article for Old Lace is so that, just for fun, I could put color swatches for the colors Arsenic (which I also created tonight) and Old Lace at the end of the article on the film Arsenic and Old Lace. Best wishes to you. Keraunos 14:21, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

I was wondering, how is it that you happened to go to the article on the color Old Lace right after I started creating it? Do you have some kind of detection system that detects when new articles are being created? Do you get paid for being an editor of Misplaced Pages?Keraunos 14:31, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Since you worked at Sun Microsystems you know a lot about computers. I was wondering, how difficult would it be for Misplaced Pages to put a counter on each article so that if you write an article, you would know how many people have visited it within a period of time? Is there any realistic possibility that this could be done anytime soon?Keraunos 14:49, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Web Colors

What year were the original 17 web colors invented? I assume it would be approximately in 1981 when the IBM PC first came out. (John Draper, who wrote the first word processing program for the IBM PC, is a friend of mine whom I have known for many years.) Would 1981 be the exact year they first were invented? (To see the 17 original web colors, go to the bottom of the article on Purple, most of which I wrote.) Keraunos 16:54, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

My second question about computer colors is, when were the numerous X11 colors shown in the web colors article invented? I assume it was in the early 1990s when the world wide web first came into use, but do you know the exact year? Was there a certain person who invented them and decided what their formulae would be? Keraunos 16:58, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

X11 Color Names

I have two more questions.

1. If the HTML color list of short list of the original 16 colors came out in 1997, what was the exact year the long list of X11 web colors came out?

2. There is a table in the X11 color names article showing where the X11 and HTML colors differ. It shows the X11 green, purple, and maroon colors as brighter than the darker colors in HTML. However, in the long list of web colors (which I assume are supposed to be the X11 colors), they show both greens (the dark green as web color green and the bright green as the web color lime ), but they only show the darker HTML purple and the darker HTML maroon on the web color list, but the brighter purple of the X11 list and the brighter maroon of the X11 list are not shown at all on the web color list. Why is that?

Thank you and best wishes, Keraunos 18:26, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

I just entered the X11 purple as Vivid Purple in my purple article, which I distinguish from HTML purple which I call Royal Purple. Go to Purple. Yours, Keraunos 18:55, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Violin String Organization

True, this word is a neologism, but it has quickly spread in common parlance in Finland, far outside the IT business. The word does not appear in dictionaries, but everyone understands what it means.Suviljan 12:17, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

UCCF revert

I'm not sure why you restored the {{db-atk}} tag on there. The attack page as tagged by Quendus was inappropriately tagged in the first place as a glance at the edit history shows that the attack page as tagged is simple vandalism of a good article that should have been cured by reversion, not deletion. (And yeah, I often forget to check the history as well). I've detagged it as reverted to the last good version. Tonywalton  | Talk 13:06, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for fixing this! I reverted at the same time as you. As my revert removed the tag, I restored it with {{hangon}}, since I assumed Quendus had a reason for the tag. I am not an admin, so I am not supposed to remove speedy delete tags, only contest them. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 13:17, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm not an admin either, but your understanding of speedy delete tags seems to differ from mine. My understanding is that if an article is inappropriately tagged anyone may remove the tag (and if an article on CAT:CSD can be salvaged then there's nothing wrong with salvaging it (by adding content or references, perhaps) then removing the tag. {{db-meta}} mentions only "pages that you have created yourself". {{hangon}} is a convenience to "hold" an article from immediate deletion while a rationale is put together as to why it shouldn't be deleted (not too relevant at the moment as the backlog of speedy deletions is such that things are taking a day to disappear). And ultimately, of course, WP:IAR may apply :-) Tonywalton  | Talk 13:26, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
WP:IAR only helps when I understand the rules to ignore–I wasn't aware that any user could remove a speedy delete tag, but I couldn't anyway as I wondered if the tagger knew the rules better than I did, or had actually intended to request the attack to be excised from history. I did use {{hangon}} to write a rationale on the talk page. Thanks again for the help, and thanks for the extra info. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 13:36, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Please delete.

Tony,

Your anti-vandalism bot has reverted Designs of the Time to the wrong version and did not take into account changes that were made.

As it is I made a mistake with the title (correct usage of capitalisation in the title is lower case "t" for "time") and moved the content to the correctly titled page Designs of the time. Please delete the page Designs of the time

Thanks

Stephen
