Your post at WP:AN/I

Please read my response here. For help with using "diffs", read about it here. Thanks, Daniel.Bryant 09:03, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

Shashi Tharoor

Regarding the SSB controversy best not to have it. His web page is referred by someone regarding his beliefs. I just read that page and it didn't say anything much.--PremKudva 05:03, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

OK thanks for your views. I'm still wondering about the inclusion of the Rationalist International material and its reputability as a source, but I guess these things have to be ironed out. Ekantik 00:18, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Sanathana Sarathi

I split the article into two. Wasn't the link in the approporiate article?. Kkrystian 24 October 16:54 (UTC+1)

Not as far as I could see, sorry. Ekantik 00:16, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to the India project

Welcome!

Hi, and welcome to the India WikiProject! We're a group of editors working to improve Misplaced Pages's coverage of India.

A few features that you might find helpful:

There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:

  • Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every India article in Misplaced Pages.
  • Can you code? The automation department uses automated and semi-automated methods to perform batch tasks that would be tedious to do manually.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Ganeshk (talk) 02:12, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Image:Suman Ranganathan.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Suman Ranganathan.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Misplaced Pages articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok 20:00, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Done. Ekantik 17:44, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
I've responded on the talk page, sorry for the delay. As to your other question; I'm not an admin, so I can't delete anything. An admin will look at the photo and the talk page on or after the 24th and make a decision. —Chowbok 01:00, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Sathya Sai Baba article (link)

What exactly was wrong with my placing that link there? Please respond on my talk page. 19.11.2006 13:31 (UTC+1) Kkrystian

But this website was not critical of SSB. 20.11.2006 16:58 (UTC+1) Kkrystian

Shangri LaXin Zhong De Ri Yue

What does the article need?

It needs more information about what the subject is, what it is for, who created it, etc? For starters, what is Shangri La Xin Zhong De Ri Yue? Ekantik 05:32, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Oh I see, I'll work on it^^jackietang33 05:34, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Cathy L. Lanier

You put a speedy delete onto the page of Cathy L. Lanier even before I was finished creating the initial version! She was selected to become the first woman police chief for Washington DC. I note that her predecessor Charles H. Ramsey has a page. She is a notable authority on homeland security (which is partly why she was chosen, at age 39, to be chief). (Also, you left your comment on the talk page unsigned) -- Sholom 18:58, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi. I would like add that you seemed to have misused the speedy delete tag. Please note that the criteria for speedy deletion states that speedy deletes are for articles that do not "assert the importance or significance of its subject." This article clearly stated the importance of the subject as the incoming Washington D.C. police chief. If you disagree with her importance please note the following from the speedy delete criteria: "If the assertion is controversial or there has been a previous AfD, the article should be nominated for AfD instead." Feel free to nominate the article, but I seriously doubt it will result in a deletion. - Ektar 19:48, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Oh sorry. Newpage patrollers tend to be very fast. Sorry again. Ekantik 19:55, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Re article Holy Spirit School of Tagbilaran

Re expansion of Holy Spirit School of Tagbilaran, I have worked on it...still need to do more, but can you check for feedback? Thanks. Please answer in my talk page.Best regards. - Pinay06 22:30, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Thank you so much! I know...there is still much to be done...Best of luck!--Pinay06 01:12, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Shahrukh Khan

Hello, Ekantik, I noticed your contributions to Shahrukh Khan's article and I have some questions regarding them:

  • Why did you remove the citations for his announced movies and added movies to the filmography where he has no part in (like Krrish, where he is suppossed to play Krrish???)
  • Why did you add to Economic Honours? The reference was added earlier (see here:http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Shahrukh_Khan&oldid=88632450) along with other references and then removed.
  • Lots of references where removed in the process - why? I thought WP *likes* references. ;)

Best regards, --Plumcouch 08:57, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Hello PlumCouch, thanks for getting in touch with me about this. Here are my answers to your questions -
  • The citation for one announced movie ("I See You") was sourced to a site that is an unreliable source (see WP:RS) and is not suitable in a Misplaced Pages article under WP:BLP guidelines. I didn't add any movies though, that must have been done by someone else.
  • A citation is required for his qualification in Economics because the source for that information is similarly unreliable for reasons listed above. Under WP:BLP policies, unreliable sources cannot be used to provide information in Misplaced Pages. If Shah Rukh has graduated in Economics then it should be easy to find a reputable source that says so.
  • Again for reasons listed above, references have to be reputable in accordance with WP:BLP. Many of the references were not reputable and so they were removed. To be specific, information found on online websites is generally unreliable. Exceptions to the rule include articles from Rediff and other sites which are online editions of printed publications. Also, common sense has to be employed because a lot of filmi information (even from reputable sources) are gossip, innuendo and speculation so editors must be judicious in selecting which material to include.
  • I also removed lots of POV sentences and converted them to NPOV. I do not claim to be a perfect editor but hopefully I have brought the article to a standard that fits Misplaced Pages policies.

WP:BIO??

WP:BIO? Did you mean Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Hinduism? Thank you for the compliment on the mediation. Unfortunately, I became pressed with other matters and had to bow out, and the conflict eventually went to arbcom. I don't count it as a success story, although some things were resolved.
