== Return to editing? ==
Hi, | |||
As many of you may know, I left a few months ago to what I perceive as nastiness on the English Misplaced Pages. I still believe that it exists. After all I've seen in the wikimedia IRC channels — both first and second-hand, I believe that Misplaced Pages has some serious community issues. However, I no longer believe that walking away is the solution — I found myself coming here increasingly often under my responsibilities as a developer (both to document the changes I've made, and to diagnose and respond to issues reported by contributors on here). Many of the documentation edits I've made have been misconstrued due to my editing anonymously, and my technical opinion is probably best attributed to me.
As a result of all of these, I've decided to move my editing here back to editing logged-in. I will, however, try to avoid the political areas that burned me out in the first place. I will concentrate my editing here to my responsibilities as a developer, however I may contribute the odd article fix. I may, in the future, consider contributing in a more full manner here, however this is a good starter.

Welcome to my talk page. I'm currently on indefinite wikibreak. I'll be editing actively on Wiktionary and other projects. If you need to contact me, you're best off emailing me. Werdnabot will continue to run, and I will check this talk page every now and then to make sure it's running okay. Any urgent problems can be solved by blocking the bot. — Werdna talk criticism 04:10, 6 October 2006 (UTC) |
Werdnabot on Huwiki
Hi! I'm Dami from the Hungarian Misplaced Pages, where we don't have any automated solution for archiving. Recently I suggested there that we should have one, and I would like to ask your help to set up a clone of your bot on huwiki. If you would be willing to help, could you please provide the source code for Werdnabot or open an account on the Hungarian WP. Either way your help would be much apreciated. Please answer me on my Hungarian talk page--Dami 17:59, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- Hi! Thanks for your answer (it was especially pleasing that you translated it, though it was really uneccesary). I'll be glad to localise the interface, and maybe a basic help (I am short a bit on free time...). After that if I announce it on the local Village Pump I think your services would be much apreciated. I don't know if you have any other projects, but if you think any of them would be beneficial to other WP communities I would be glad to help in localising them. Please answer me on my Hungarian talk page--Dami 20:04, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
- Hi! Thanks, I'll start working on the translations, and hope to finish them by the end of this week. Meanwhile could you give an explanation to 's function (I'm not totally at home with regex, but if I know what it does, I can ask somebody to localise it), and also http://en.wikipedia.org/User:Werdnabot/Interface/Boilerplate and http://en.wikipedia.org/User:Werdnabot/Archiver/Linkhere seem to be empty pages ::(.--Dami 16:37, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hi again! I see now that the linkhere has text in its source.
- I'd like to ask you, what is the functions of the Months page, and the abbreviations there, where do they appear?
- --Dami 18:21, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hi. I finished translating the pages you sent me, (they're linked to from here: ). I didn't translate the boilerplate as the link you gave is to an empty page :(, and also I didn't translate the Timestampsregex, because I think it can be left in English until I see where does it come up.
- All that being said, I would like to start working on translating the templates at the top of the userpage (hopefully without breaking your bot's template detection...) and if there are any other help pages about the stuff like <!--werdnabot-noarchive-->, and what to do with unsigned comments etc. And thanks again for the work you put into the internationalisation of your bot --Dami 18:51, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- The only thing that can't be translated is the tags starting with . The rest can be translated. As for the timestampregex, this is a Regular expression for the way timestamps are shown on your wiki.
Hi! I sent you an e-mail, and repeat it here in case you didn't get it: I'm complete with the translation, they are here : , (in the right column), they just need to be moved or copied to the right place. Regards--Dami 21:49, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi again! Could you please give me an update on the Werdnabot situation on huwiki? Thanks--Dami 21:08, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- Also I saw on your meta talk page, that there are some new strings to be localised for huwiki. Please don't hesitate to contact me for their translation. Regards--Dami 21:14, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi! I copied all the interface messages under hu:User:Werdnabot in the same place as on the English original. I have placed the template with substitution on my talk page. Please do a test run, and if everythings okay, I'll start propagating it on the Hungarian Village Pump. Thanks for your help--Dami 10:53, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi, I know your busy Could you please start the bot on huwiki. Currently only I am using the template (hu:User:Werdnabot/Archiver/Linkhere, but if the bot was running I would recommend it to others as well, and I believe it would be a great success.--Dami 17:45, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Werdnabot is being abused

Abuse Report for 202.182.131.21
Hi Werdna, I wanted to let you know that I've opened up the abuse investigation for your IP address, 202.182.131.21. Information about my contact and investigation can be found here. I apologize for the long delay, and promise to give all my cases the utmost priority until they are resolved. ST47Talk 22:25, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
- For convenience: 202.182.131.21 (talk • contribs • WHOIS • block user • block log). To ST47: Are you sure that you have got the right user associated to this IP address? Are you aware that Werdna operates the Werdnabot robot which is used by many people and some projects to archive their talk pages? Recently, some vandals redirected its output to inappropriate pages. He has been working on repairing the bot. Before fixes to the security of the bot, it had to be blocked to prevent the vandalism from continuing. Also Werdna is "on vacation" and is not doing anything here at Misplaced Pages. If you want to talk to him you must go to his meta-page. JRSpriggs 07:12, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Talkarchive
Maybe it's only me... I recently made a second archive and noticed that as Werdnabot started to archive there, it didn't make put the "talkarchive" message in it. Can I fix that? O.o -WarthogDemon 18:07, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- As far as I know, Werdnabot will create the archive file if it does not exist, but it will not put the "{{talkarchive}}" template into it. If you want that template, you can, of course, edit the archive file yourself and put it at the beginning. Be aware that the template disables section-by-section editing of the archive leaving only the "edit this page" tab at the top. However, you probably want that, to discourage people from editing the archive. JRSpriggs 09:55, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Is This Right??
Hey werdna, I'd like to ask a small favor of you if you don't mind; Could you please check that the archive code on my talk page is correct, and if not, make any changes to make it work?? Let me know if it's right, and thanks for your time.Ardo 20:09, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
