The Baerum mosque shooting or Al-Noor Islamic Center shooting was an attack that occurred on 10 August 2019 at the Al-Noor Islamic Center mosque in Bærum, Norway, around 20km from the capital city Oslo.
Attack
The shooter, who has not officially been identified, was reportedly wearing a uniform and helmet when he entered the mosque. He was carrying two shotguns or "shotgun-like" weapons and a pistol, opening fire at the congregation. A 65-year-old man in the mosque was injured, but was thereafter restrained by other people in the room, and soon arrested by police.
After the attack, a young woman was found dead in the shooter's apartment. The woman has been reported by local Norwegian media to be the shooter's stepsister.
Suspect
The suspect is believed to be a "young white male" who is Norwegian and in his 20s. A Norwegian right-wing media source, Resett, was the first outlet to unofficially propose an identity of the suspect. He is indicted for terrorism and murder, according to Norwegian police.
Response
