He served as a Member of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan from 2005 until his death in 2019. and Deputy chairman of Azerbaijani National Assembly's Committee on Human Rights. Abramov is a Mountain Jew, representing a part of Azerbaijani Jewish community.

His father was a former leader and spiritual guide of the Jewish community of Azerbaijan. His family's 750-year-old history traces back to Shemakha, about 250 km north-west of Baku. In 1902, when an earthquake stroke the town, many surviving Jews left for Quba. His father left to fight in the World War II against Nazi Germany.
