Keiser University – College of Golf

Hi Prahlad balaji, my edits to the article you are talking about did not include any words or verbiage that made it come off in a wrongly persuasive way. I only made grammatical edits for content already put in place, and took out a section that had nothing to do with the article. It had nothing to do with conflict of interest, rather it was helping fix an article I saw that could use help. With that being said, {{Help me}} how do you think the Keiser University – College of Golf article should be edited (since you find this one to be biased and wrong) so that it has an overall neutral point of view? I would like to know, because I want to help. Thank you. (KTLC12 (talk) 19:46, 12 June 2020 (UTC))

KTLC12 I never reverted you, just restored the COI template. I never specified that the COI editor was you. PRAHLAD (M•T•AC) This message was left at 20:21, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

While we in the Twenty One Pilots fanbase appreciate the rollback of the password written into Tyler's page, that was an important part of an Alternate Reality Game the band set up for us today. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NotSentimental (talkcontribs) 05:04, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

I'd rather not go into too much detail per WP:BEANS, but the user's contributions matched a specific recurring spambot called "NTSAMR". creffett (talk) 20:37, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

Oh yes, I've seen those cases before. Is NTSAMR an LTA case? PRAHLAD (M•T•AC) This message was left at 20:38, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
Also, could you tell me where to find more about NTSAMR? Thanks. PRAHLAD (M•T•AC) This message was left at 20:40, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
Turns out it isn't quite as hush-hush as I thought. See meta:NTSAMR for some details. If you do see that pattern and are reasonably convinced it's a spambot, just report it to AIV as a spam-only account with an explanation like "NTSAMR pattern spammer" and the admins there should know what to look for. creffett (talk) 22:50, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) @Dattisan: As I mentioned on your talk page, you or any representative of the library have no right of ownership or editorial control over this article. Anyone acting in good faith can edit the article - you have no authority to tell them not to. If anything, you are the one who should not be editing the article, per Misplaced Pages's conflict of interest and paid editing rules. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 23:20, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

Boltzmann brain

Hi bro You undid my revisions claim "lack of reliable source." Please note:

  • some revisions removed unreliable, poorly source material including
  • I did read materials and keep two sources from the sections I trimmed or reworked
  • those sections were garbage, badly sourced and made outrageous claims anyway
  • one section rewrite for comprehension by target audience, otherwise just take it away because, "no" is the simple answer to that question — Preceding unsigned comment added by 14.200.167.203 (talkcontribs) 15:50, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Problems

  • There is a Wikidata item link in the sidebar on many pages. This disappeared for a couple of days for users who have the Monobook skin. This was because of a bug. It has now been fixed.
  • Editing, logging in and logging out didn't work properly for a short period of time last week. It was soon fixed.

Changes later this week

  • Recurrent item The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 16 June. It will be on non-Misplaced Pages wikis and some Wikipedias from 17 June. It will be on all wikis from 18 June (calendar).

Future changes

Significant editing problems

Hello Prahlad balaji.

I'm afraid I've noticed a considerable number of problems with your edits in recent days. You've begun to undertake some sort of clerking type role at some of the permission noticeboards, this is completely inappropriate and causes difficulties when trying to handle permission requests. We don't typically have clerks at this noticeboard, primarily because to be effective in clerking that noticeboard, you would need to be an administrator (in order to view deleted edits etc) and as administrators can perform all of the user permissions requests, it's a redundant role. This does mean, unfortunately, you're not qualified to be clerking any of the permissions noticeboards and shouldn't be doing so. We also find, regrettably, that good faith comments left about other users, when not in full possession of all the necessary facts, can cause disagreements and create some unfortunate situations or confusion, which is far from ideal.
Next, I see you're also making edit filter error reports, which is appreciated, however I notice one of your most recent edit filter reports, regarding edits to Jamie Dornan concern edits which were not approved. I'm disturbed that you've managed to file an edit filter report but have failed to approve the edits. This is far from ideal. The public facing areas of the encyclopedia are considerably more important than the behind the scenes maintenance aspects.
Moving on, I notice you've been making changes to sockpuppet templates - this is something that should really only be done under the auspices of checkusers and SPI clerks, there can be a significant difference in how we treat suspected versus confirmed sockpuppets, it is important that we do not incorrectly note that sockpuppetry has been confirmed by technical evidence when that may not be the case - in many cases, particularly where public WiFi and wide ranges of mobile telephone networks are involved, it can be impossible to confirm technically sockpuppetry, and in such cases, we rely on correct tags to determine whether we can include or exclude certain accounts from our investigations.
Finally, I noticed an edit to Talk:Speaker_of_the_Provincial_Assembly_of_Punjab, you should be reporting pages with personal information, financial information etc to WP:OVERSIGHT for permanent suppression, rather than nominating them for deletion or blanking them.
I don't wish to discourage you, your enthusiasm is appreciated, but I would really ask that you slow down, move into new areas more cautiously, and find more conventional areas to work in, rather than suddenly deciding to clerk noticeboards, do some unusual sockpuppet tagging etc.

-- Nick (talk) 15:13, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

@Nick, I understand all but " I'm disturbed that you've managed to file an edit filter report but have failed to approve the edits". Can you tell me what that means? PRAHLAD (M•T•AC) This message was left at 15:20, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
The edits made by Urbstkeptsecrets were still waiting in the pending changes queue quite some time after you filed the edit filter report (those edits were approved by Praxidicae). Nick (talk) 15:24, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
@Nick: I'm sorry about that, didn't know that the filter allowed it. PRAHLAD (M•T•AC) This message was left at 15:26, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
@Nick: Please tell me how to deal with all this. I have a feeling I'm going crazy. PRAHLAD (M•T•AC) This message was left at 15:31, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
I'm hoping some of your talk page stalkers may offer additional guidance, but as I said, it's a case of slowing down, if you can't see anything to edit, step away from your device instead of finding things to edit, when you move into a new area, tread very cautiously and ask people who know (so for the sockpuppet stuff, asking a checkuser or SPI clerk at the start, is one such example). Don't be afraid to ask administrators if there's anything we need help with, we can often suggest areas that suit your level of skill and expertise, such as checking on image sources and licenses, which are enormously helpful and which don't need any special permissions. Hope that's some help. Nick (talk) 15:52, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

Nick thanks. I don't know how many TPS I have :) PRAHLAD (M•T•AC) This message was left at 15:54, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

<--- Page information tells you how many watchers a page has (so how many Watchlists it's on). Nick (talk) 15:57, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
@Nick: No, I know that I have 33 watchers, just don't know who they are. I'm still quite sorry for what I did , and I want to fix it. Thanks for everything and take care. PRAHLAD (M•T•AC) This message was left at 16:00, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
  • @Nick: I see you're an admin: could you have a look at User_talk:Dattisan#Conflict_of_Interest where I think Prahlad may be dealing with matters best left to admins / UTRS etc, in relation to a COI editor with a WP:OWN problem (see above also). As I understand it emailing their sources to Prahlad is not a way to satisfy Misplaced Pages's sourcing requirements. Thanks. PamD 17:32, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
  • Yes, a brief overview of the situation would be appreciated, Prahlad balaji, so we can work out the best approach for dealing with the situation here. I'm sure you're aware, but source material for articles should be published in recognised reliable sources (typically taken to mean a source independent of the article subject, and made available in books, journals, magazines etc, which are reasonably widely distributed). Is that the sort of source material you've being sent by Dattisan ? Nick (talk) 19:14, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
@Nick and PamD: I told the user that to get a quicker reply, the user can discuss on the talkpage. And last time I checked, Dattisan hasn't replied. PRAHLAD (M•T•AC) This message was left at 20:00, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
Also, when Dattisan does email the sources, I will probably send it to one of you. PRAHLAD (M•T•AC) This message was left at 20:02, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer newsletter June 2020

Hello Prahlad balaji,

Your help can make a difference

NPP Sorting can be a great way to find pages needing new page patrolling that match your strengths and interests. Using ORES, it divides articles into topics such as Literature or Chemistry and on Geography. Take a look and see if you can find time to patrol a couple pages a day. With over 10,000 pages in the queue, the highest it's been since ACPERM, your help could really make a difference.

Google Adds New Languages to Google Translate

In late February, Google added 5 new languages to Google Translate: Kinyarwanda, Odia (Oriya), Tatar, Turkmen and Uyghur. This expands our ability to find and evaluate sources in those languages.

Discussions and Resources
  • A discussion on handling new article creation by paid editors is ongoing at the Village Pump.
  • Also at the Village Pump is a discussion about limiting participation at Articles for Deletion discussion.
  • A proposed new speedy deletion criteria for certain kinds of redirects ended with no consensus.
  • Also ending with no change was a proposal to change how we handle certain kinds of vector images.

It is very, very rare that you should be using the custom decline message with AFC. Additionally, you should never decline a draft for MOS or formatting issues; those can often be fixed more easily by the reviewer than the (often clueless) draft writer. Primefac (talk) 17:56, 19 June 2020 (UTC)
