Fisheaters.com

Thanks for the heads-up about what's going on on the Blacklist page. I don't get this, though. I don't understand why they have it in for the Fisheaters website. It's the only traditional site like it on the itnernet, it's been around forever, it gets used by priests, gets used in RCIA classes, has been cited in books. Something isn't right here. Will you go to the Whitelist page and argue for an unblocking? Thanks, Evrik. Something really shaky is going on. Check this out: the woman who runs Fisheaters says this about her site and Misplaced Pages: go to Fisheaters.com/wikipedia2.html And now Chabad has 2,118 links from Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Special:LinkSearch&limit=500&offset=2000&target=http%3A%2F%2F*.Chabad.org Why would they allow 2,118 links from Chabad but not one from a traditional Catholic website, and that because they say it "spammed" Wiki (when, if what the Fisheaters lady is saying is true, there were no rules against adding links to your own website!)? Does Misplaced Pages have a serious Catholic problem? It seems that way, and I'm starting to get angry about it. I don't know if you're Catholic or not or whether you have a dog in this fight, but even if you're not and you don't, simple fairness demands something be done about this.

This is kind of scary if you stop and think about it. Misplaced Pages is the biggest thing on the internet, the first thing people see if they use Google to search for anything, and it seems to be very anti-Catholic and very pro-Hassidic. Wikimedia DC celebrates Black History Month, and more!

Hello again!

Not even a week ago I sent out a message talking about upcoming events in DC. Guess what? There are more events coming up in February.

First, as a reminder, there is a WikiSalon on February 11 (RSVP here or just show up) and Wiki Loves Small Museums at the Small Museum Association Conference on February 15 (more information here).

Now, I am very pleased to announce:

• Tuesday, February 17 from 10 AM to 3 PM there will be #WikiTurgy at the University of Maryland. Join fellow theatre enthusiasts for a “mass act of public dramaturgy!”
• Thursday, February 19 from 10 AM to 4 PM we are hosting the Howard University Black History Edit-a-Thon. We are working in partnership with the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center to improve Misplaced Pages’s coverage of African-American and African diasporic history.
• Tuesday, February 24 from 6 PM to 8 PM we have the Black History Month “First Edit” at NPR. Help improve Misplaced Pages and help others make their first edit to Misplaced Pages!
• Finally, our monthly dinner meetup is on Saturday, February 28.

There is going to be a lot going on, and I hope you can come to some of the events!

Resurrection of Southern California Task Force

After moving from Los Angeles County to Kern County to San Luis Obispo County, I am finally realizing that there is life in California outside of L.A. and San Francisco, where I lived and grew up. Oh, I have also lived in San Diego, San Bernardino, San Joaquin, Yolo and Sacramento counties, and I earned my undergraduate degree in Riverside County. I am trying to breathe life into the Southern California Task Force, and I hope you will join me. Could you visit our list of participants at the other end of this link and update your description of what you are interested in doing for us, assuming that you still want to be in the mix, that is.

So as to avoid an edit war on this article, let's discuss it here or on the article's talk page. I cannot find mention of hypocrisy for this proverb/idiom in standard reference works: Brewer, Roget, Oxford Dictionary of Proverbs. Looking up hypocrisy, I find it listed in Roget under "deception" with reference to different idioms: a wolf in sheep's clothing and a whited sepulchre. There is a different between pretending to be what one is not and accusing someone of the very faults that one possesses. From the point of view of format, discussion of psychological projection and any alternative meaning properly belongs in the body of the article, not the lede. Johnbod, I suggest you read up on WP:NPA. Your messages here and elsewhere are troubling; from what I can tel Evrik did what they felt was best for the article, which is perfectly acceptable.
