John Ebnezar is an Internationally renowned Indian orthopedic surgeon, A Padma Shri Awardee and 2 times National Awardee, from the Indian state of Karnataka, known for promoting wholistic orthopedics, a practice combining modern medical techniques with yoga for the management of Osteoarthritis of the knees and other Chronic Orthopaedic problems like lower back pain, neck pain, frozen shoulder etc. He received a Best Research Award from SVYASA Yoga University, Bangalore for his work on OA Knees in 2012 and on the Role of Yoga on fracture treatment (2010).

Guinnness Book of World Records

He was twice listed by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2010 and 2012 for the most books written by an individual in one year.

Ebnezar first featured in the Guinness Book of Records in 2010 when he published eight books between February 2009 and January 2010, a world record he subsequently bettered in 2012 by publishing 108 books between January 2011 and January 2012

Prolific Author

. He is the author of over 200 books, all related to medical science, and is the only Indian orthopedic surgeon to have his books translated into Spanish and Italian. Among his notable books are Textbook of Orthopedics: With Clinical Examination Methods in Orthopedics, John Ebnezar Cbs Handbooks in Orthopedics and Fractures, Step by Step: Injection Techniques in Orthopaedics, Step by Step: Emergency in Orthopaedics, Low Back Pain and Practical Orthopedics.

Pioneered Wholistic Orthopedics

Armed with a PhD in Yoga, he developed an Integrated Module of combining it with Modern Orthopedics in treating Modern Musculoskeletal Problems like Life Style Orthopedics problems in the young and Geriatric Orthopedic Problems in the elderly. As the causative factors in these disorders are multiple conventional treatment methods are ineffective. Through research he has proved that the Integrated approach works best in them.

Awards

He is a recipient of Rajyotsava Prashasti, the second highest civilian award of the Government of Karnataka, which he received in 2010, Kempegowda Award(2011). The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2016, for his contributions to medical science, thus making him the first orthopedic surgeon from Karnataka to receive the honor. He is also the first and only orthopaedic surgeon from Karnataka to get the coveted Dr BC Roy National Award. He recently received his 2nd National Award, the Silver Jubilee Research Award by the Medical Council of India in 2018. So far he has received more than 275 International, National and State Awards for his outstanding achievements in the field of Orthopaedics,making him one of the most decorated orthopaedic surgeon of India.
